Not true. If the warrior is decently build for 1v1’s he will do as well as any other class.

1v1 is all about the build and skill, off course. As you learn the game you’ll get better so no problem there.
All professions have good 1v1 builds and some of them will be better against X and worse against Y. I hate to use this cliche advise but pick whatever you enjoy the most.
As for PVE, I believe the most popular professions are warriors and eles. I’m not a PVE guy though…

Hey guys,
I created a Necro with the intention to use in WvW. I have several other classes so I understand the game very well, no need for noob tips. But I’m having a hard time figuring out which are the most popular/optimal builds for Necro in WvW.
I’d like just one or two builds that would be my first ones to try and learn the class.
I roam and zerg, so both builds are welcome.

Roaming - D/D or S/D?

Assuming typical builds for both sets for roaming:

Pros of D/D: decent sustained damage with occasional high burst, high survivability, great mobility, great soft and hard CC, point blank AoE attacks for everything
Cons of D/D: can be hard to recover from burst damage, only melee, rather slow and somewhat predictable rotations which can leave you vulnerable to some experienced players
Example video
Base build for typical D/D is x/x/x/4/6

Pros of S/D: ranged, more unpredictable, very high and instant single target burst quite often, high but slow AoE burst/area denial
Cons of S/D: Thief prey, cooldowns, not very great sustain, not the greatest mobility, hardly any CC

Base typical build for S/D is x/6/x/x/2

In general, D/D is “better” just for it being more forgiving than S/D and more flexible in fights or group compositions. Personally I think S/D is more fun (I play D/D), but it can be frustrating in comparison to D/D.

The S/D videos don’t show any close or outnumbered fights though, or even fights agains warriors/guards. Seems like a “fun” build to burst low levels and light armor professions, while not really effective on close fights against skilled players.
S/D probably shines when the attention is not on you, like 2-5 man group roaming and you are free to burst people with low hp and AOE burst them to prevent res.
Has anyone tried S/D extensively to contribute to the thread?

I’m a WvW roamer but I’ve been taking interest in zerging lately.
I have 4 classes which are specced for roaming but none of which fit well into zerg play.
I see the Elementalist as a potential roamer with D/D and zerg fighter with Staff. This versatility attracts me.

I really wanted to adquire a celestial exotic set but it’s only possible through crafting.

My question is: How much would it cost for me (who never leveled a crafting discipline) to craft a Celestial Exotic set considering I have 0 materials?

Ranger: They are the “pet class” and pets aren’t the main source of damage. Spirits dont do damage, they only provide buffs/heals, whats is wrong with that? So do banners. Are rangers op? No.

Mesmer: Phatasms die with two hits and are shattered either way if they don’t. To me, phantasms are an attack, a skill, which damages. That’s all, not op at all. Completely useless in team fights due to AOE (maybe not the duelist or the warlock).

MM Necro: has to be built entirely to make them useful. Ocupy all the utility/elite slots and have limited active utility, with exception of golem and bone minions. When they die the skill goes on cooldown, makes it very hard for them to be usefull at teamfights.

My point here is: Even if they are a good source of damage/utility, AOE skills in teamfights screw them up very badly. I don’t think AI is a problem here, imo this is a L2P issue. With all due respect to you guys that stated otherwise

I’ve been running this build before the patch too. I used to love it but the ferocity change crippled it a bit.

The build below is very popular nowadays. You can also use Elixir Gun instead of Elixir S.
I believer this build would work for WvW as well, with some adjustments.

What kind of issue are you specifically having that could be related to lag? Skill lag and teleport bugs.
What server are you on? Borlis Pass
Has there ever been a time when you or a friend are experiencing lag, while others in your party are not? No, we usualy lag at the same time.
Has there ever been a time where one party in a map is experiencing lag, while other parties in that same map are not? Maybe.
Do you experience the lag at very specific times? when approaching zergs or when too many people are on the same map.

Hey guys,
I don’t main a Mesmer but a friend of mine is starting to play one and is almost level 80.
He is interested in WvW, like me, but as I don’t play Mesmer I’m having trouble suggesting him a good roaming build, specially a noob-friendly one.

I have already checked the forums and Osicats builds. I’m sure all those builds are effective but, as I said, I have trouble choosing a noob-friendly one.

Hey guys,

Sorry if this has already been answered, couldn’t find anything on the forums.

Will glory be retired as a currency on the upcoming patch (March 18th)? Should I rush and spend it all before that? Would really appreciated if a Dev could take the time to clear things up a little.

Side note: What would you guys recommend I spend my glory on? I tried dyes but sadly I’m out of crafting materials now.

Hidden Killer , almost always when relying on Backstabs. You just don’t have enough Fury uptime to make Executioner viable. Builds that don’t rely on Backstab will typically use Executioner though.

30 Shadow Arts and 30 Critical Strikes are a must have.

The only optional part is if you like Mug or prefer having 10 points in Acrobatics. That’s a matter of personal taste. Some like Mug, personally however I don’t.

The only trait that you might want to switch around when alternating between the weapon-sets is Cloaked in Shadows. It’s extremely useful for D/D but somewhat redundant when running D/P. That’s something you might want to switch with Infusion of Shadows or Shadow Protector at times.

Otherwise both builds use both Shadows Embrace and Shadow Rejuvenation.

To sum up, I believe it’s safe to say that:
D/D – Shines on outnumbered fights due to stealth spam and distracted enemies.
D/P – Shines on small scale/solo fights due to blind spam and mobility.

I would love to run both to be prepared for any situation. But I still have trouble deciding how I should trait.
For a hybrid setup with D/P and D/D, what would you recommend?
- 10/30/0/0/30
- 0/30/10/0/30 – 10 in SA for shadow embrace.
- 10/30/30/0/0
- 10/0/30/0/30

Which two of the three main trait lines should I go for? Trickery, DA or SA?

Really hard match up indeed. You cant move in for a backstab or you’ll get melted. I just used SB to possibly kill a few of his minions until backup arrived, since it’s easier to take him down on a 2vs2. And watch out for dark pact, as Maugetarr said.

You can swap Elixir S for Slick Shoes to combo with magnetic pull.
You can also swap tool kit for bomb kit or elixir gun. Or maybe run 3 kits.
The good thing about this build is that every kit fits it well, so you can choose whatever you like.

IMO, turrets should be fire and forget in much the same way as necromancers do wells. The only place where turrets in current form makes sense is SPVP capture point bunkering. Everywhere else the very idea of keeping turrets up for extended periods is pretty much bunk.

As such, overcharge should pretty much be the default. Picking turrets up should join the dodo, and we should be able to always use the relevant toolbelt skill (bye bye detonate).

I also dislike the toolbelt skills being replaced. Really kills turrets for me.

Hybrid Condition/Power build viable?

I think its possible with the engineer. We have many mixed up kits/weapons with power and condi damage.
I dont know if I would run celestial because the critical damage% is nearly useless since you dont get enough precision. Maybe focusing on condi damaga+power+vit/tough?
