As per the original mechanic … these exotics can only “equip” 1 sigil at a time and sigils can be “replaced” or “swapped” when out of combat.
Notice how I placed the highest tier weapon in “greater esteem” by having this “upgrade component” have more “sigil slots.” The legendaries … owing to the fact that they are “legendary” should be given 7 interchangeable slots. The ascended weapons … given that they are harder to come by should be given 5 interchangeable slots. The exotics … since they are fairly common, should be given 3 interchangeable slots. Again … this does not alter the “basic” mechanic of the game where sigils are concerned in combat.
This upgrade should give players a significant quality of life improvement in-game. I for one have tons of weapons of the same type … equipped with different sigils. All because I like trying out new combinations and effects. Believe me when I tell you I have 7 scepters with same stats and different sigils, and 7 foci with same stats and different sigils … all for different combinations and effects. It all depends on the situation and enemy type … and if I am playing pve or WvW.
I know a majority of players just “waste” the original sigils in their weapons when they find a “new one” that works better for them. Who buys upgrade extractors anyway? Unless it is a very unique of high priced sigil or upgrade … I doubt alot of people buy upgrade extractors.
To recap:
Please consider making an “upgrade component” that allows players to “stack” a number of sigils in 1 weapon.
For legendaries: 7 interchangeable sigil slots.
For Ascended: 5 interchangeable sigil slots.
For Exotics: 3 interchangeable sigil slots.
Basic mechanic of having 1 or 2 sigils active per weapon does not change. Sigils can only be “swapped” out of combat.
This upgrade can and will bring significant quality of life improvement to your players. I would like to say this upgrade will make your players happy. And happy players are what you are looking for … for happy players open up their wallets to business. I WOULD CERTAINLY BUY THIS IF THIS WAS A GEM STORE ITEM.
Whether you implement this “upgrade” through crafting in-game or drops or through the gem store … I believe a lot of players will see the benefit from having this upgrade.
Happy players = Happy customers = Happy revenue.
Heck we can even go all out and make 12 interchangeable sigils slots … FOR EVERY WEAPON TIER … whatever floats the boat folks …
To all readers of this post … if you think this upgrade will bring about a nice quality of life enhancement to our gaming experience … please do make a discussion out of this. Maybe if more people get involved … Anet might actually listen and consider doing this. Gone will be the days where you “dispose” of your old sigil in favor of a new one … only to find out that the old sigil still had a place in your playstyle and with new balance updates. Gone will be the days when you have soooo many weapons sitting in your bank or bags … rotting away unused. Gone will be the days when you have many weapons of the same stat line … just because you love all the sigils you have bought and don’t want to waste them. All this will be solved … with this one “upgrade” component.
So guys … if you think this can be a thing … please help let Anet know … by turning this into a discussion. Heck you might even have a better idea that the one proposed. Let Anet know that we WANT this thing !!!
AND EVEN IF IT IS A GEM STORE ITEM … I WILL BUY THE HECK OUT OF IT.
That is it folks.
Keep on GW2ing …
P.S.
We will get on armor rune swapping another time. We strive for little victories here and there …
Good day Anet staff and all you forum readers. I am proposing a new “item” or “upgrade component” in-game which will make life a little bit better for us players … and for the developers as well … if they so choose. And this all concerns … sigils.
Currently we can equip only 1 sigil for a one-handed weapon and 2 sigils for a two-handed weapon. What I propose does not change this basic mechanic of the game. Instead … I propose that the developers make up an “upgrade component” that can be attached to any legendary, ascended and exotic weapon that will allow the said weapon to carry “a certain number of sigils.” The weapon can only use the 1 or 2 sigils at a time depending on the weapon type … but players will have the ability to “swap” sigils out of combat to whatever sigils they have “stacked” in that said weapon. This is similar to the swapping of stats on a legendary.
For example …
A zerker warrior with Twilight can have the following sigils “attached” to it through this upgrade:
- Superior Sigil of Force
– Superior Sigil of Accuracy
– Superior Sigil of Fire
– Superior Sigil of Lightning
– Superior Sigil of Bloodlust
– Superior Sigil of Blood
– Superior Sigil of Strength
This weapon can only use 2 sigils at time as per the original mechanic. It can only be changed out of combat.
Another example …
A condi necro wielding Coalforge’s Spire can have the following “sigils” attached to it through this upgrade:
- Superior Sigil of the Blight
– Superior Sigil of Corruption
– Superior Sigil of Torment
– Superior Sigil of Incapacitation
– Superior Sigil of Bursting
Again, only two sigils at a time may be used as per the original mechanic … but sigils can be swapped out of combat.
Final example …
A hybrid engineer wielding a pistol and shield may have the following equiped …
Pearl Hand Canon:
- Superior Sigil of Earth
– Superior Sigil of Agony
– Superior Sigil of Generosity
Pearl Shield:
- Superior Sigil of Purity
– Superior Sigil of Malice
– Superior Sigil of Perception
from the back … looks like a margonite … which means … abbadon … but he dead alrdy … maybe he once had modremort for a pet … =)
ok Wind … when you get to SoS and start doing WvW stuff … hook me up … I was told that you guys are trying to go to SoS … last time I was with u guys … u did not run anything in WvW … so please do so this time around …
Leafy Gexy
Smiling Sylvari Ranger
Hook me up shadow … i believe i was in [Wind] or something similar … it was advertised as a ranger group … but … there was no one on WvW … all the others were on different servers WvW … anyway … I think I can free up some space from my guilds list … so hook me up when the majority get to SoS and start WvWing …
Hi all. I was wondering if my beloved SoS server has dedicated ranger groups for WvW? There is a particular guild recruiting rangers for whatever but that is a cross server guild … I am looking for a guild that would run rangers in WvW. Its just that seeing five rangers in action is quite … enjoyable, never mind seeing 10 rangers. Is there a dedicated group that runs around twice a week, 1-3 hours at a time? If not … are you guys up to it? Would some of u consider making a ranger guild [RNGR](?) or join one? I am very interested in this particular scenario … your thoughts?
Against Heavies:
I honestly don’t know if this will work. Against similar numbers … I think we would be at a disadvantage. Depends on what build we encounter I guess.
Against Softies and Medium:
We would win … hands down … that is why other softies or mediums have second thoughts on engaging a ranger group …
For a 10 Ranger havoc:
I would bring 2 more Tank rangers, 2 more zerk rangers, I would drop the trapper in favor of a shout ranger. So the group would be 3 Tanks, 3 Zerks, 2 Spirits and 2 Shouts …
Wutcha guys think? Hopefully you can improve on this … but this is just my take on a ranger havoc krewe. We can’t be all zerk … It is in the diversity that we will sustain.
Additional thoughts: Add a venom share thief into the mix = good times. =)
I was roaming around WvW the other day and was fortunate to group with 3 other rangers. This is out of the blue. The two were guild mates. I sort of tagged along with them. They invited me to join their party after a couple of encounters. We ran into a fourth ranger after a short time and we proceeded to do some damage in that particular borderland. This was like a “havoc” krewe … the two did not really want to take towers … just camps … and gank the unfortunate passers by, yaks and guards. The real fun came when we encountered a group of 6-7 pugs of various classes. Even though they had us outnumbered by 2-3 guys … they were very reluctant to “rush” us. The few times they tried to come at us with even numbers … it was a massacre … for them. I don’t know if they just had the wrong set-up or they were all zerk as well (hence being squishy). Anyway … it was fun to run around with my fellow flower rangers … until my guild came calling for a guild “raid” on the borderlands. One of the rangers with me told me to just ignore them and pretend to be afk. Unfortunately … the next group we encounter … were my guild mates … so that cut my ranger fun run short.
Anyway … this is about A ranger havoc krewe. What would you want your 5 man ranger krewe to be “specd”? Humor me on this one. If it was up to you to build this 5 man krewe … what would it be … armor wise, rune wise, utility wise, trait wise, pet wise. What would you spec for your 10 man ranger havoc krewe? … for GW1 veterans … wouldn’t it be nice to have the old ranger “spike” countdowns in this scenario?
Anyway … this is for those who would like to experiment on all things ranger. This is of course a havok scenario … we won’t be taking on blobs … we can try to take on heavies of similar numbers … that is as far as I am trying to push this … I don’t know what the results will be against them. For light to medium armored opponents … I believe we can win most of the time …
Ranger 1 = This is the “tank” ranger … its purpose is to be the guy “who gets hit first” … AND SURVIVE … hence the high health and defense … it would be ideal if this guy knew how to “spot” the correct target to take out first. He/she would be at the front … always at the front of any engagement … You can switch out sigil of purity to sigil of frailty in your longbow for more damage. Switch out “Sic Em” for “Protect Me” for … additional protection. Of course you should switch one of your pooches to a bear if you decide to do this …

Ranger 2 = This is your typical zerk ranger … high damage … hit em hard … kill em fast … high mobility is needed hence “rampage as one” for the elite. Use S/D for “dodges” … be aware of the rangers that can give u heals as kitting around them would probably mean your survival … You can switch out sigil of bloodlust/frailty … to fire/precision depending on your play style

Ranger 3 = You are the “Spirit Ranger” … buff your team mates … supply heals to your squishy damage dealers … speed buffs for greater map mobility …

Ranger 4 = You are the “Trapper” … you lay down traps so your team can kite around that area … giving pause to would be melee opponents. You are zerky enough to deal significant damage with a longbow … you have heals for your team … you have group swiftness to navigate through the map faster …
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fNAQNBjODbkRl2V7WxcFqWDoHUrDgDItZXwpwK4KhLYTF-TlCBABGp0wq9HUSZmEKBh+gAAwFAIPNB+o+DDPAgAOCAkCwPdVA-w
Ranger 5 = You are the “Shout Ranger” … shout away … you give regen and swiftness … you have decent damage mitigation … and decent damage output … together with the trapper and the spirit ranger … you should be able to keep the group alive for prolonged fights …

Tactics:
Since the longbow has insane range … kill the opposition from a distance. It would be wise to be close to each other as you get buffs from the shouts and the spirits. Lay down traps as needed and have the team kite around em … Together with Entangle and pet immob and fear … you should have very good crowd control … with healing spring and shouts – you should have decent heals and regen.
Lighter side of things … post your ranger jokes …
Question: What is the favorite ranger skill of Spanish/Mexican Rangers ???
Answer: “Rampage as JUAN” … =)
ANET … pls allow for more storage space in our personal bank. I have all character classes in this game. I collect a lot of stuff for them. Different armor sets and jewelry and weapons for the type of build I am currently running. Having 7 “storage tables” for all my toons is just not enough. I don’t mind paying for them … just give me the space …
Hello people. Just wanted to give you all my 2 cents input on the subject matter of “Guild Wars 2 Crashes at Startup.” I have 2 computers were I can run GW2. The older model is a 2 year old with an i7-2600k cpu, Nvidia Gtx 570 video card and 16 Gb of DDR 1333. This computer has no problems whatsoever running GW2. No crashes at all unless I get dc’d due to a bad connection which sometimes happens with my internet provider. A year after I got this rig, I bought another one as another member of my family started infringing on my playtime with this computer. My second rig had an AMD 4.1 Ghz quad core cpu, Nvidia Gtx 680 video card and 16 Gb of 1866 ram. Awesome computer right? YES IT WAS. It ran everything … counter strike, sword of the stars 2, GW1, SWTOR, etc. It ran GW2 just fine until several months ago when the game started crashing after startup. Sometimes I would be able to get to the character select menu and select my toon. Sometimes it would not and immediately kick me out into the all too familiar GW2 error report screen. Sometimes I would be albe to play for several minutes then it would crash. At first I blamed it on the AMD system. Graphics performance with the above specifications was so-so. And I growing frustrated with my machine. It is supposed to be the better rig of the two. This went on for several months until I finally grew so sick and tired of not being able to play GW2 that I decided to change the motherboard and the cpu. I upgraded to an Intel i7-3770k cpu and an asrock motherboard. Awesome. I noticed better performance with all the games I played. The graphics were smoother and response times were better. And I thought this would solve my GW2 troubles. After doing a clean re-install of windows 7, GW2 and all the necessary drivers for all the computer components blah blah blah … STILL … STILL GW2 CRASHED. I frequented this forum and other forums to see if I can find a solution to this problem. I wanted to play GW2 with this new rig. My other … OLDER computer had no trouble running the dang game. The error message I received looked almost like the error message you guys have been posting. I do not understand the things in the error report but I would scroll down to the end and look at what it said. And everytime it said something like Nvidia driver blah blah blah in the end. I could not post the exact error message here because I no longer have the problem. I have all the latest updated drivers for the video cards and mobos. Everything is updated software wise in my rig. The problem was not with the GPU at all though the error code does incriminate the GPU. It was with my RAM. I have 16 Gb of the g.skill ripjaws. My friend and I decided to test the memory after reading it as an answer given by one of the devs at anet. I forgot his name and I can’t seem to find the thread where I found it. We downloaded MEMTEST86+ (it is a free software —- google is your friend) and installed it in a usb drive and set things up in the bios so that the computers will boot from the usb. We tried it first on the older computer. Memtest did not find any errors with my other system memory. I took around an hour for it to complete 1 whole pass. No errors. We tried it on my new computer. BANG … not 2 seconds into the test the screen screemed of errors in RAM left and right. The bottom part of the test screen was completely colored red which means … hardware errors from the RAM. It took an hour as well to complete the test. Now I knew it was the memory. I unhooked the RAM from the slots and tested them one at a time. It took around 15 minutes for each RAM to be tested completely. Result: 1 of my RAMs had tons of errors in it, the second one was dead as the computer failed to start and began giving off the ‘RAM is dead’ beep. The other 2 RAM modules were fine. So now I just use the undamaged ram. I have 8 Gb of 1866 DRAM instead of 16 Gb. But
GW2 has been running smoothly since. No crashes. No blue screens. No issues. My windows test scores for the system actually went up from 7.7 to 7.8. It seems that defective or even dead ram will still make your computer run as long as it has ‘good’ ram placed in the slots together with them. My other games did not crash with the defective ram probably because they are not as memory intensive as GW2. Playing GW2 12 straight hours as of this writing. No crashes. So … my advice to you all experiencing startup crashes with GW2 is to get MEMTEST86+ and run a diagnostic with your memory. MEMTEST86+ is free and the test should not take you more than an hour to complete. I have now solved my problem. It was not the GTX 680 as I previously thought … but the RAM. Hope this was helpful.
