I’m getting this bug too. It’s my first story mission after a long absence from the game – and it’s broken. So annoying.

Submitted bug report, and I’ll have to acquire a ranged weapon to follow the video posted above.

Quite disheartening if I’m honest. Anet haven’t responded in over a month.

For anybody intimidated by dungeons...

Up until a couple of days ago, I’d never completed a dungeon.

I was always a bit intimidated by them because I have a habit of relying on Solo for pretty much every aspect of the game, and was loathe to the need to rely on others to play the game.

There was a point in my past where I tried to have a go at Caudecus’s Manor, but as soon as I hit the LFG tool, I was faced with maybe two active groups. One was French, so I didn’t want to join that one, and another was British so I joined. I was then asked by some of the party members what gear I had, so I replied, and was kicked.

For a casual gamer like myself, this was a poor introduction to Dungeons and to be honest, was one of the main reasons I didn’t go back.

A couple of days ago, my main just reached level 80, and I’m about to complete the Personal Story, however, Arah (the final mission) is a dungeon. I was not happy about being forced to rely on others to complete my personal story – after all, it’s a ‘Personal’ story.

I looked for a group, and got kicked pretty quickly once more – I’m a casual gamer and I’m not necessarily kitted out in line with the more hardcore gamers specifications. I was told that I needed Exotic minimum and that if I tried to complete it, I’d fail because I’m just not kitted out well enough. Same old story as Caudecus’s Manor, same fail.

However, I was determined to finish the Personal Story, so I thought to hell with it, I’ll create my own group. So I added my party to the LFG tool, citing that I just wanted to complete my Personal Story. I prepared myself for a long wait whilst I imagined players looking and thinking “eww, a newbie.”

Now for the silver lining… Within probably 10 seconds, I had a full party of five and everyone was chatting in the Party coms. They were all saying encouraging things and quite open to helping me complete my PS. We were in and completed fairly quickly, with cutscenes on, and whenever I needed help, I was helped by my party members.

This is where I realised that my fears were unnecessary. Instead of trying to join a group of career dungeoneers who were trying to speedrun/grind for rewards, I needed to simply create my own group, put in the text that I’m a newbie to the dungeon, and people will join to help.

“If you book them, they will come” ~ the spirit of Jim Morrison (Wayne’s World 2).

A major win for the Guild Wars 2 community, in my mind.
