[Suggestion] Ascended Armor Transmutation

One of the most appealing things to me about this game is its mix-and-matchable wardrobe system, and the amount of armor skins available to choose from. Collecting the various skins and creating new outfits is one of my favorite things to do.

I feel like currently, ascended armor forces you to stick to a single ‘look’; sure, if you get tired of the look after a month or two, you can switch to another look for 6 transmutation charges, which really isn’t a big deal. But for people like me with several favorite looks, there’s no easy way to switch between them from day to day without either spending massive amounts of gems for transmutation charges, or acquiring more than one set of ascended armor for the character.

I propose allowing each piece of ascended armor to ‘store’ three skins, with each of the stored skins being free to toggle between at any time. Each skin that is not the default will cost a transmutation charge to add to storage; when full, a transmutation charge can also be spent to replace any of the currently stored skins with a new one. This would preserve the value of transmutation charges while allowing players like myself to switch between outfits more freely and frequently.

This could be extended to exotic armor as well, but I don’t think it’s as big of a problem with exotics since it’s not nearly as difficult to acquire multiple sets. It would save inventory space for people who do so, though!

Thank you for listening, ANet!

When the whole pre-purchase fiasco started, many players were quick to voice their dissatisfaction, myself included. Provided we complained tactfully (which I understand not all of us did), I don’t see anything wrong with that; we had to let ANet know just how many of us felt this way, and how strongly. But now that they’ve shown that we’ve been heard, it’s only fair that we show our appreciation just as quickly and adamantly.

So thank you!!

I, for one, never believed that paying $50 for the expansion was too much, regardless of the amount of content. Anet has worked kitten their game, and they deserve to be paid for it. What bothers me, and I’m sure many people will agree, is that they’re not charging $50 for just the expansion, and then something like $60 for the expansion plus base game. Or giving existing players a perk upon purchase for already owning the base game. No amount of content will right the unfairness of that.

This would be all ANet needs to do to right this entire fiasco, IMO. X could be as low as 800; I would be happy.

They say they’re listening to our feedback, which is great. But listening is not enough; I’d like to see action, I’d like to see change. I really hope I won’t have to resort to something drastic like boycotting HoT completely.

Another HoT Thread

Yes, I am aware that there are already a multitude of threads on this issue. But I decided to start yet another one because there’s one point that’s really been bugging me about this whole thing, one that I don’t think has been brought up yet. But first of all to clarify where I stand:

If ANet decides that the content they have created in HoT is worth $50 and that’s what they wish to charge for it, that’s absolutely fine with me. Sure, it may not be as much content as the base game, but as the game’s creators they have the right to charge whatever they perceive its value to be. As the customer, we simply have the decision to buy it or leave it.

If ANet decides that the base game is no longer worth anything, or has depreciated to a point where it can be given away for free, that is also fine with me. It’s only natural for the pricing of a product to go down over time, and again, how much so is up to the creators to decide.

However, we all seem to be missing the fact that one day, no, one hour before the HoT pre-purchase was announced, they were still selling the base game in the shop for $39.99. If the value of the base game has gone down to a point where it’s not part of the $50 tag on HoT, why was the base game not $10, or even $20 just days before the pre-order? To me, this is hypocrisy at its finest.

Now I’ve read the thread on ‘veteran player entitlement’, and again, if ANet does not wish to reward their veteran players, they have every right not to. But what about the poor saps that decided on June 15th, 2015 that they were going to get into Guild Wars 2 and shelled out $40 for the core game? Are they expected, a mere day later, to pay $50 for a bundle that includes the very same game they bought hours ago? How do you think they, or heck, anyone who bought this game in the past month, feel about their decision to buy the core game then, and not just wait a little? It’s not like they were given any warning, or anything.

Now as a disclaimer, I am not ranting because I’m one of those aforementioned people that got screwed over by this. I’m ranting from just thinking about the potential of this happening to someone, and the ridiculous business decision ANet had to make for this to happen. I would honestly be happier if HoT was $50, and the bundle that included HoT and the base game was $70. In my opinion, that’s only fair.

I love this game to death, and I will only be boycotting ANet where I feel they’ve done wrong. I will continue to play and support this game, but I will not be buying HoT until there is a bundle, for a lower price, that does not include the base game.
