[MAC] Client not responding (new beta update)

Hi there,
same problem here.

Got the 10.10.3 (14D87p) Build for “Photo”-Testing. Since it worked before the beta update, I’m pretty sure it’s because of the new client build.

Having issues since September patch?

I can confirm this. Got around 50% more FPS on my late 2009 iMac. Way to go, but a right step. Thanks!

Full native client status?

What Falming said. I understand your point, Todd, but you have to be honest for a certain point: ANet advertises the Game to run on Mac and Windows and since there are people out there that buy the game for the Mac part, they may not necessarily expect it to be in a beta status that’s not working as it should be. ANet doensn’t even mention it on the Specs page.

Again, I’m not whining about the beta status, it’s about the lack of communication from the staff. If there will ever be a post like “hey guys, we’ve messed up and we don’t have the mac experience to get a full native client, we’re sorry but we’ll to our best to improve the existing one” that is totally ok for me.

It’s about no one saying nothing about anything. Only thing I read here is “we got a new staff guy working on the forums”, then he posts a “hey, I’m new and I’ll do everything better now” and then you won’t read him for another 1-2 months – at least here on the english forums. In our german forums, we haven’t hear anything for 4 months and counting from any staff member. That’s the point. I’m not begging for a magica unicorn and a miracle, I’m asking for a clear, honest answer.

Full native client status?

Hey there,

just jumping over to this forums from the german area since we’re totally left alone there with our mac problems. Last posting was nearly 4 months ago and even though there’s not much more activity here, there seem to be at least one or two Arenanet workers to step by here (Lacey Hiteshue).

Now, reading on the topics of this forum, you guys seem to have the same problem with this crappy “Beta” Client that didn’t get significant updates for nearly 2 years now. I understand that Windows is still dominant and there’s a small number of Mac-Users (that use it for playing) that’s not worth to get a fully native client from launch. I’m totally fine with that -even in today’s times with STEAM showing how to deal with more and more crossplay-games – and it’s something I am totally aware of.

Now, years after launch, we’re still fighting with this 32-bit-Wine-port that slows down the system and prohibits options from using “High Textures” and other, 64-Bit-Features, even though we use a 64-Bit-System.

Yes, I am aware that I can install Win7 via Bootcamp and have an excellent performance and up to 50% more FPS with the exact same Settings like on the mac, but this is nothing I want to handle every day (switching systems from time to time).

My system is an iMac late 2009, with 2,8Ghz, 8GB Ram and a 512MB HD Radeon 4850 and I know i will not be able to enjoy this game in maxed out settings. But that’s not what it’s about. I want to enjoy it at least on average settings that my system could easily handle (as seen on the windows7 64bit environment). Instead, “we” have to fight with unexplainable FPS-drops and a cut visual experience, that makes my system work harder than it should have to.

You have left us hanging here from day one that was acceptable, since every Mac User knows that the primary platform is windows and I was so glad to have at least an “emergency solution” to play this awesome game on my mac – but now, some years later, I’ll ask myself if this BETA will ever disappear from the top of the game?

There were several community managers dropping in and out, leaving us hanging here and making the community to solve most problems by theirselves (thanks for that awesome work to every experience mac user!) also all the time there was just one unanswered question that no one ever answered:

Will there ever be a fully, native Mac-Client supporting all 64-Bit Features and make full use of a mac system? Are there any plans for this?

I don’t mind waiting another year it’s just one point: I want a clear answer on this. That’s all.

Sorry if you get me wrong – this is not a flame, this is just a user that was totally left alone in the german forums and that tries to get an answer here. I want to experience this game as it was meant to be and not with these barriers thrown in my path.

Thx (and sorry for any spelling errors)

Possible. There was a huge inclination down in this cave that would be perfekt for epic battles. Cave itself got a lot of tents and compounds. Maybe it’s a black market or sth

Here’s a sneak peak of the new area to expect. You were able to enter it with the “Assisted Leap” Skill very easy before the last update. Looked very nice but it’s been pretty small.
