What is the best way to get into raiding?

For starters I main chronomancer, I have the gear required for a chronotank build, all of my accessories save one earring are ascended, the one earring that is exotic is commander’s stats with a plat doubloon for boon duration. I have 3/6 pieces of ascended armor with the rest being exotic, leadership runes for the boon duration and ascended weapons. I have learned the rotations in the raid training area and can maintain near 100% uptime for quickness and a high alacrity uptime. I have also studied many of the fights, watching clears on youtube and reading up on the mechanics on the subreddit, forum and wiki. Not that its overly relevant, but I used to raid heavily in other games, with me main tanking in WoW from vanilla through WotLK.

My biggest issues at this time is that I am in a dead guild and I maintain an odd schedule, it was started by a friend of mine but it never got off the ground, I pretty much only rep the tag so I don’t get random guild invites. So I don’t have an organized group that I can just go and raid with. Due to my work schedule I am rarely available before midnight EST which makes it harder as I have looked into training guilds on reddit, but they all raid outside my window of availability. I have also looked into LFG for raids but the ones I have found all want people for either challenge motes or to ping LIs before they let them join. That being said what would be the best way for me to start raiding

Harbringer of Woe and Omadd's Machine

Ok don’t really want to risk posting in a dead thread, but figured I would way in on this, first the second screenshot you posted is what the Durmand Priory called The All, you can see it better if you watch the Omadd’s Machine cinematic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQGGytoNXk8 or even here https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_All. Now I think based on what bread crumbs ArenaNet has given us is that the Harbinger of Woe is showing what will happen to Tyria if we keep messing with the balance of power. First we have Morderemoth’s reaction to death his exact quote was “What have you done?” Now I don’t believe that too be a throw away line, Mordremoth showed more intelligence than Zhaitan ever did simply based on our conversation with him, he very well could have been aware of The All or as we know the Anti-Kytheria Mechanism. Again something along these lines is brought up in the Caladbolg restoration current event. Spoiler:
"The hero sought to save the world. "If I keep trying, I'll be able to win," the hero thought. But the harder the hero fought, the further the world seemed to tumble away. Drowning in doubt, the hero could not even save themselves."
This sequence doesn’t seem to be a throw-away thing either and points to the fact that we need to find replacements for the Elder Dragon’s no Aurene will not cut it, if anything after seeing the events in Bloodstone Fen I don’t believe she can regulate that much magic by herself, it took 6 dragons and still they fell to the hunger to consume magic and that is assuming they were once noble. If you look at the Harbinger and pay closer attention to the story and events it’s clear that killing all 6 dragons without 6 suitable replacements to regulate magic there will be problems. That image on the Harbinger is a potential future for Tyria. So no I don’t believe that the image is the destruction of the dragon orbs, because the dragon orbs aren’t real they were metaphysical expressions of the 6 powers that maintain the balance of the world in the Eternal Alchemy.

Can we just stop calling them "elite specs " FKS (for kittens sake)!

They are alternate play style, they are no more elite than any other extra trait line with a new weapon. Continuing to refer to them as elite is a misnomer and propagating the fact is just getting asinine at this point. Unlocking them should be an accomplishment yes, but no more so than unlocking your other trait lines/weapons/utilities IMO.

They are elite specs specifically because you can only ever take one at a time, and unlike core specs the actually confer more mechanical changes and grant skills and weapons you can only use when equipping them.

They may not feel particularly elite now, but once the second spec is released that term will make a lot more sense. Their power is extreme enough that taking two would be OP. That’s what makes them elite.

They’re elite not because of any raw mechanical power they add, but because of the level of what they add to a character compared to core specs. They’re simply “better” than core specs because of the shift in playstyle they can add to a character, a thing that core spec lines don’t do.

You are talking in riddles with no facts to base them on. The only thing that makes these specs actually special is that they (many of them anyways) change the way your classes actually play… and after 3 years of the same way to play our classes, you can understand why people consider these as “better”.

And you are wrong because the core specs DO bring shifts in playstyle (a D/D elementalist plays a whole hell of a lot differently than a staff Ele, A condi Thief plays differently than a direct damage one etc.)… the difference is that we’ve already played those playstyles ad nauseum for 3 years already.

I think what they’re trying to say is while yes a DD ele plays different than a staff ele, an ele cannot equip a warhorn only a tempest can, yet a tempest can still equip any weapon an ele has, thus a change in the play style. Also what makes an elite spec special at least right now is that it can only be slotted in the bottom specialization slot for builds meaning unless this changes you will only ever be able to use one elite spec at a time as they add more. This leads to more class variety and more variations in play style than if there were no elite specializations. So basically there are mechanics that you can only access by slotting the elite spec.

This is a good thing, you now no longer need to grind the multiple 4 million exp masteries to unlock all the hero points on all four maps anymore.

You only need all 40 hero challenges on a character that is going into the expansion with less than 10 available hero points, meaning little to no map completion has been done. This is the thing I don’t get, having played multiple MMOs and been in betas for a few I never expected a max level character out of the gate I knew I had to earn it. I also knew that if an expac is coming up the smart thing to do is get characters I plan to play ready to go whether that means learning a crafting profession, earning gold to start out or exploring for map completion. There is an old saying a failure to prepare on your part doesn’t constitute an emergency on my part. The expac was announced over 6 months ago, people had time to work on map completion, to get alts ready. Them choosing not to shouldn’t mean that Anet nerfs content to cater to them. To me it belittles the effort of the people that already unlocked it, I have 100% central Tyria map exploration on 3 characters and am working on my fourth. I have chronomancer 100% done and would already have 213 extra hero points when I finish Magus Falls map exploration, now I’ll have 363 with the change and nothing to spend them on. If Anet is smart the next expac will have elite specs at 400 points and they’ll keep them there.

What I think they should do is keep it at 400 points but separate the traits from the new utilities. You spend the 60 points to unlock the elite spec and have separate tracks for traits and utlities. So each trait is 15 points meaning it would be 180 points to cap the traits, so everyone can have their traits for their build but that would leave the remaining 160 needed for the heal, utilities and elite. Still costs 400 points, but more flexible in how you unlock it.

We’ll take a look at the next step “Sign Cutting” being bugged out, as well as some or all of you having to jump through hoops to get the quest to update correctly. Sorry again for the inconvenience – we’ll have the quest’s designer and QA do a deeper dive on these issues.

Still silence on the larger issue at hand, when is the elite spec grind going to be addressed?

that is a non issue, its not a grind (that would be doing the same thing over and over) and its not that hard

It absolutely is a grind, I HATE world completion content, I have 10 characters that I have to unlock the elite spec on each of them, thus doing the same, boring content that takes forever over and over again. And the WvW way is just a constant, painfully slow ktrain.

If that isn’t grinding I don’t know what is.

As someone that finished Chronomancer 100% I can say that while it took a while, this has nothing on some of the rep grinds that WoW required for content. I also had 100% map completion, which meant I was already starting with around 210 hero points including what I had from Dry Top and Silverwastes, the game has been out for 3 years for classes excluding the Revenant you had plenty of time to work on map completion. You want Anet to cater to you because you don’t like map completion. What about the people who do or have done it? If they rebalance the elite specs that stilll leaves a lot of hero points left over for nothing, there are still hero challenges to do for people that went in with map completion on their mains with nothing to unlock meaning they’ll be saved for future elite specs, a quick count has me with 21 hero challenges in HoT left to complete. In any MMO it’s a situation where you can’t please anyone and both sides are extreme. If you could get everything in one day people would complain, now that people can’t get everything in one day they still complain.

She said she will not make another Caladbolg. Why? Who knows. Doesn’t matter. Caladbolg is unique. And good luck making the Pale Tree do something she doesn’t want to do.

But that’s just an artificial limitation. It’s as though the inventor of the laser cannon and the only one with the blueprints burned them and said he doesn’t want to make a new one. The fact remains that it would be just as easy, if not easier, to mass produce Caladbolgs as it would be to mass produce laser cannons.

Except that making another Caladbolg would be pointless. Caladbolg as a weapon had a unique advantage against the risen and Zhaitan being made from the Pale Tree herself. So if they were to move forward with the belief that all Sylvari are immune to dragon corruption then I believe the Pale Tree would have to make a new and unique magic weapon for each type of ED corruption. I’m also not sure if that whole anti corruption thing is true, because of Mordremoth. Its possible that this dragon is responsible for the nightmare or spiritual corruption. I just hope not because that would be too WoW like. Which could be supported by the Sylvari intro, maybe the wyld hunt wasn’t just Zhaitan but all the elder dragons and the shadow of the dragon was a direct representation of Mordremoth’s power.
