This game is too difficult to understand as it is (according to Anet design) -> Many people can’t seem to handle UWC/are bad at UWC -> The majority of these therefore also hate UWC -> Nothing related to UWC will come out anymore -> It’ll be removed by some future feature pack, with some feature they were going to release anyway given to take attention away from the removal.
I like it, I was decent at it, but the balance around it was a joke. It is buggy, and that is why even more people dislike it, however they could perhaps be won over by a big fix.
However, ANET needs cheap solutions (usually ignoring the problem or deleting it a la twilight arbor), preferably that caters to the lowest common denominator. That’s why my little slippery slope might actually, to some degree, come to fruition.
But hey, we’re getting more guild features three years after release (and losing some at the same time, but so goes Guild Wars 2), miracles can happen =P
The underwater dragon would cause them to need to implement and fix it. They added gliding which was a game changer. In a recent leak they may supposedly adding mounts. Them repairing something with the help of the community to make effective underwater combat should be easier because they already have a decent basis. Personally, I don’t mind underwater combat. It is beautiful and the animations for many skills are quite lovely, though there is definitely a need for more weapon choices that reflect the variation in on land builds and some skill changes needs to be fidgeted with so people feel they actually have an impact underwater of more than just moving around and being confused.
Land and Water should be separate, there should be a tab in our equipment section and our build section that allow us to switch between Land and Water, so that you can actually build for each situation. For an example, my druid is completely ineffective underwater, she is a healer and one that relies on glyphs and staff. Most of the druid tree is irrelevant to me underwater. I can’t use glyphs and my underwater weapons don’t allow me to heal. This then makes my armor of healing redundant underwater and makes me weak in underwater combat because my DPS underwater weapons that I get no other choice on, do not reflect all of the armor that I have.
PvP they currently don’t have Underwater combat and very few people do Underwater combat in WvW. The WvW system would obviously be the same as PvE for setting the builds. And in PvP it would be as simple as changing them through the builds tab. This would include different amulets and runes, not just traits and such for underwater.
For the most part of all of this I agree.
But one issue is with the idea of Mastery based learning to breathe underwater. There are hearts and such that occur underwater before you would have access to the mastery. You can’t just take away everyone’s ability to breathe underwater, I mean you can breathe without one before you get a rebreather. Lower levels and even people just starting to get masteries going in HoT would be disadvantaged in all of the maps that contain water. I mean tangled depths is already confusing, imagine suddenly being unable to breathe to get the hero point there, it would be ridiculous.
What if we as the player character are not meant to kill every single Elder Dragon on our own
We never did. Zhaitan was killed by Destiny’s Edge and the entire Pact (which included the commander). Mordremoth was also killed by the entire Pact and Dragon’s Watch (which again included the commander).
Killing Elder Dragons is and always has been a group effort.
Mordremoth was a two part battle, that required not only the Dragon’s Watch and the Pact, but all the forces the other races had to offer as well. Dragon’s Watch only dealt with the internal battle of Mordremoth, Dragon’s Stand meta event is how he was distracted and killed from the outside. We never would have made it to enter his mind without the Pact and the troops sent by the other races marching their forces down three lanes and distracting the “Mouth of Mordremoth”.
We have never killed a Dragon alone, but we were a great force combiner and leader that heard peoples plans and made the tough choices, as we have always done. There is no excuse that the player can’t do it alone and Braham is a fool in thinking that we are the deciders. We never choose who gets to kill a Dragon, we fought them as they fought us and played the cards we have always been dealt and that is something Braham doesn’t understand. He rushes in and doesn’t look at the card he has to play with. He is a destructive force and will kill a lot of people.
Honestly, I hate Braham’s character so much. In itself, he is very poorly written. He showed none of this emotion for the man who raised him but now with his mother who has recently just become close to him and passed on is now the be all and end all of his life. Like I understand she is important but his emotional reactions make no sense. To me it comes off as poorly written.
To me it makes sense that their most angst-ridden and foolish character is the one who goes off and makes a weapon to chip a tooth. If you speak to Elder Ulf about the “legend” (myth), he claims that it mostly just gives people goals to aspire to and that there is no need to be honest about it just being a myth. I believe what Braham has done is meant to create a conflict between the Norn and the other races. This chipping of the tooth mean his people will look to him to lead an assault on Jormag and Braham is not ready to do such a thing due to his carelessness, he has proved that multiple times by rushing in, this time in particular getting Rox frozen and then he has nothing to contribute by any sort of idea that you have to crash the monster into the little ice things, to me this might be somewhat intentional because he just bashes an ice creature the whole time and offers no assistance. On top of that, he seemed to show no real concern to what happened to Rox due to his behavior. Like others have said, we need to be united in order to make the Dragon’s fall.
Furthermore, it is insulting to hear coming from Braham’s mouth that his mother would not want us in Destiny’s Edge. They have been hit with such deadly forces in the past, any of the current members would be able to tell it would be time to call it quits and assist a new guild in taking on forces, far greater then they ever could. Zojja told us herself that we were a huge portion of DE’s firepower. Eir, for the most part was an incredibly smart and level-headed norn, who would have learned that fighting the Dragon’s alone wasn’t an option. Why else would she end up in a guild that was filled with mixed races with common goals and enemies. If she learned anything from fighting Zhaitan, it’s that working together is the only way. Braham doesn’t know Eir and bring shame to her legacy and unless his character actually could show some growth in a way that actually makes sense rather than continue to prove him time and time again that he is just a brutish guy with a rock for a brain, then honestly I hope his character get serious consequences and with his assault on Jormag, I hope it fails miserably, maybe he even dies honestly. It is infuriating to see the lack of consequences for his dumb actions, it often effects others and he won’t even care.
The other characters all have something to offer, sure Marjory didn’t listen when we told her it was a bad idea to go off with Lazarus, but that is something we need to find out and she is someone who shows she can think things through and offer well thought out ideas. Not only that, but her personality is far better written and when her family member died, she didn’t act entirely foolish, she listened to friends and learned. Not only that but she was actually raised with her sister, side by side. I am not trying to imply Braham can’t be hurt by his mother’s death, I am just saying that it makes no sense for him to have shown no emotion for his father and all the emotion for his mother with very little presence in his life. I am an angsty person and I am not close with my mother, in fact I would say I have a similar reaction to my mother as Braham used to, but if I got close to her and then she passed away there is no way I would act out for her the way Braham does for his mother, but I am close with my father, he raised me and I would be absolutely heart broken. This is probably why to me, his character reactions make no sense.
I think we should all upvote this poster in this post. They organized their post really well and covers pretty much everything.
Alright, I know there are some level of difference between LWS2 and 3, but I joined the game and bought HoT and then also proceeded to buy LWS2 and to be honest it didn’t kitten me off at all. In fact, it just made me eager for LWS3 and to make sure I logged in to get the episodes and be a part of something in that moment and if I missed it, tough, I just go and buy it.
I think a lot of you are over exaggerating, new players will have so much content to play through, not to mention ones newer than myself will have to buy both, but I doubt they will be that upset because they’ll probably just play through the two main stories first and then decide they want what is in between (like I did), hell I know I would even buy the instance based story stuff of LWS1 if there was any, just so I could experience defeating Scarlett.
Someone who really likes the game won’t think it is that unfair to be honest.
I understand this feel. I am not a good player and the only reason I am trying to hard and want these rank ups so badly is because I really want the Legendary PVP wings which means I need to do the achievements.
I realised only this season about the achievements and I have completed one by accident last season and this season I got the second one. I am currently up to the third and in terms of ranking up I need one more to at least save myself needing 5 in the next season (I could not possibly get 5 next season, I can hardly get the third I need for this season so I only have to do four next season).
I also wouldn’t be trying so hard to get these achievements in such a small period of time if I wasn’t hearing that next season is the last one before they change how to get the wings (and I assume it will be harder to get them by that point).
Oh no, this totally sucks. I am in Sapphire right now, if I get to Ruby before this season ends (unlikely because I am horrible) that next season which will now be my last chance I need to go from Amber to the beginning of Diamond. I am so close, I truly believe I can earn this back pack, but with this news, there is no way I can earn this back pack with one season left, I am so sad
I haven’t done any of Living World Season 1 or 2 and I have Headgear, Boots, Shoulders and Glove box unlocked at vendors and got a shirt from a Bandit loot chest box. I haven’t gotten leg gear, which is apparently only obtainable after Living World Season 2 Chapter 7, which I have now gotten knowing this info, but now I am confused how I have any other of these items.
