but if you don’t want to use the pistol offhand, you have to supplement it with something that will deal great damage.
But the off hand pistol only deals damage short range, with the burn, right? So if we’re farther range than that, a pistol in off hand or a shield, does it change something?
What is a “FULL” elixir build? It means 30 in alchemy, right, but then? 30 in firearms and take pistol/pistol? So a condition damage build with pistols and alchemy?
You don’t have text infos about this build, and a build link for the build?
I mean, it is harder to follow a video build as a guideline to make our character

I have tried the 0/15/30/20/5, I liked it, what bothered me though is that the “justice renew on kill” is good against trash mobs, if you fight veterans or champions it is of no use, and better keep the virtue for the passive effect…
I don’t know how you can be ranged in GW2, especially when solo in PvE… Sure, to engage a fight, this is fine, but once the monster is coming I’m unable to keep range, except a very small one. And for this, scepter or staff is fine, I just run around the enemy, firing…
But for this kind of use I usually prefer the staff, as it can hit several enemies at once…
The scepter 2nd attack is useless while pulling as the mob does not stay in, so you need a still enemy, and this can be achieved only when you’re close to the target, target smashing at you…
Oh ok Soldier armor is not a draconic one And so this is a Karma armor…
Sometimes I wonder if I should not drop jewellery and train cooking instead, as jewels… once you have them… so… you have them… but food you have to make a lot ^^
What is this soldier armour about?
I mean I don’t find it here:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Draconic_armor
I like your build because for the most part I play with GS and hammer, just switching to other weapons according to my need (like the staff when I have to run long distances in a map ^^).
I had a 0/15/30/20/5 build, then I switched to a 0/5/30/30/5, now I’m in a 0/0/30/30/10, considering perhaps to a 0/5/30/30/5 again… With 4 parts of knight armor so far… exotic hammer but rare GS, and I have to find better weapons. But I’m broken and so I can’t even complete my armor yet…
(edited by hithlain.4385)
I sometimes pop all my virtues at once, but when I have renewed virtue on, so I can refresh them at once…
I’m at work so cannot watch your video, I’ll do it later.
Can you remind me what might does? I’m french so unsure what the french word is.
About runes, I have thought about a 6xLyssa as well. Divinity provides % critical damage, but Lyssa improves precision, and therefore the critical chances. Dunno what’s better. And the 6th Lyssa provides a way to dismiss all conditions you have on you… and sometimes especially in Orr, when I have a few undeads on me, it is not uncommon I end up with 6 conditions at once, and it hurts badly ^^
I’m not very experimented so I’m not sure about what I say though, but this is my current feeling…

Thanks for the build.
Could you explain (through text, and in brief) some comparison between yours and the Brutaly’s hammer build?
Why this mix between knight and soldier armor?
Why “Paragon”? Usually it comes with “Paragon of Virtues” but you have only 5 in the virtues line ^^
Why Shelter instead of the healing signet? (I always have issues with Shelter as it is best used when you know the enemy will hit you hard, and I have difficulties timing it good)
Why the runes of divinity?
In pvp maybe, in pve enemies rarely dodge my attacks
So as there is no player elephant in GW2… I doubt an elephant will dodge… mmm… I don’t think there’s any elephant in GW2…
When it comes to build I use for now 0/0/30/30/10. Dunno what you think about this. Before I used 0/15/30/20/5. Both work well to me.
I use usually both GS and hammer, but I have every weapons on me.
I have 4 parts of the knight armor, no money yet to make the last two parts. No rune on the armor yet, as I said, no money, nothing on the weapons as well as most are just rare weapons, not my ultimate exotic weapons.
I do only pve for now…
Selfless daring is the heal on roll, right? If so, I think this is a good trait. This is one of OP build, I mean to put 5 points in this. As with other traits you have vigors on criticals, you do critics quite often, so you can roll quite often, and so to heal while rolling is very fine to me…
Today we killed a level 80 champion troll, we were just two. It took a bit of time, but evading while healing was a good thing, and I healed myself AND the other one as well, as I planned my rolls so I ended up near him…
In fact I have noticed this is one of the many merchants, one in each cathedral. But if we want vit/pre/heal armor, then we have to mix armor pieces, right?
I have made the mistake of buying both the dwayna breastplate and leggings. Breastplate is vit/pre/heal, but leggings is pre/toughness/cond damage.
Where is the Karma vendor who sells vit/pre/heal armor? I could use this one while I collect what I need for my knight armor
Thanks
This is not really a problem of “money” but more of “time”, as I’ll make my own cleric armor, I’ll not buy it, so I need a bit of time to get my armorsmith to 400 (I’m at 325 right now), then I’ll have to farm for the mats.
Where do I get this soldier armor?
Thanks
Against the glowing eyes, hey we are human, not a supernatural being or strange species… but tatoos and some other stuff yes why not…
btw I guess the cleric armor takes a while to get… so meanwhile, with my new level 80 armor, what kind of armor/weapon I should aim to, something that I can get quite fast, in order to be able to wait for the cleric armor…
Usually I salvage white and blue items. Green and above, I check at trading post if I can sell them above 1 pa, if so I sell, if not I salvage.
I’m sure it is not the best solution ^^
I always use the second lowest salvage kit (the one by stack of 25) but just because I’m lazy considering which one to use…
Just wonder… How people can hack account with the “new place confirmation by mail” or the authenticator? Does it mean the hacker hacked your IP too? (The place we start the game is by IP, right?)
Really? Others don’t hear when we shout aloud? I didn’t know…
I agree, I doubt many guardians use this skill to really retreat ^^ Hey a guardian never flees, a guardian dies where he is…
Perhaps the best way to do this, but I doubt it is doable, is to shout “retreat” if you’re going away from monsters, “charge” if you’re going to the enemy, and “be ready” if you’re not moving, so a way to have the vocal change depending on the situation…
I have all weapons on me, but as I’m still on my levelling path, many weapons I have are 10 levels or so below my level ^^
Ok I’m starting to figure out how to use this build
btw don’t you think the staff as secondary weapon could be good too? It provides some heal with power, a bit of range, and it is a two handed weapon so it benefits the 2H weapon trait…
I really have to learn to fight with such a build I’m 62, just switched to this build, and did the 59th personal story.
I died once and was on the ground two or three times
The lack of good condition remover is an issue. Perhaps I should use the mace so I have a bit more heal, sword+focus is a bit agressive with not enough protection…
lol yes, Anet are liars
To me, DXTory is the best one. It is not free, but it is less cpu intensive than fraps, and so you can record things full screen HD without noticeable fps drop.
If I remember well they have a trial.
Indeed, to me dungeons should be huge, maze like places, with many things inside and many paths ^^
Hey when you play a paper game dungeon and dragon in a dungeon, the game master does not tell you “the visible exit is : forth or back”
Or put her in a foreigh language server, this way she will be unable to understant what is being said
And my advice, play with her, so be sure she understands zombies are just computer pixels and not awful monsters ^^
Yes the idea is fine. I don’t like going underwater because I don’t like my weapons, and I can understand we need some different build underwater…
btw I wonder, trident and spear are considered two handed weapons, right? So the trait to reduce 2H weap cooldown works fine underwater, isn’t it?
Are you sure? Boons from utilities are not applied to every allies in vicinity, including NPC?
I am 62 now, just switched yesterday to try your build. I have put 30 points in virtues, 10 in valor and the remaining in honor if I remember well. I bought a new greatsword, and a good focus to go with my 1h sword.
I also crafted a cleric level 60 armor.
No time to try it yet as I went to bed before fighting with it, but this evening I’ll try my personal story with… ^^
I guess I’ll have to figure out all those changes, because this is a very different way of fight than with my previous tank build with my hammer.
I wonder… does the focus alteration removal skill works on ourself as well?
Are you sure your granddaughter will not make nightmares with all those zombies around? ^^
Usually when I play I try to not show the monsters too close when my children are around… (my daughter is 8 years old, my son is 5 years old)
I’m 58 with a hammer and never had issues with veterans of my level… except those who poison, poison is awful…
Don’t remember what the two torches skills for the guardian are. Does it create a fire zone? If so, it could be good to use for a combo.
And you cannot have too many burns
Have you read my post? Or just the title? I know you can travel in main towns for free by using the PvP tab.
What I say is:
- people not aware about this pay to travel to towns
- so either travelling to town outside the PvP tab should be free, or there should be no way to travel to LA from the PvP tab, the portal should bring you back to where you were before entering PvP.
Hi,
Have you noticed how it can be expensive to go from a far far away region to lion’s arch for instance, or any other capital town?
To me this is fine, I do not complain about that…
BUT… there’s a free way to go to any capital town… just enter PvP or WvW from anywhere, it is free, then enter the lion’s arch portal, still free, and from then you can go to any capital for free.
So, what I would ask :
- either make travelling to any waypoint inside a main town free, so people knowing this travel tip will not be advantaged… free for all to go to a main town.
- or make it so the portal in WvW or PvP does not lead to lion’s arch, but instead leads to the place you just left before entering PvP or WvW (like if you had used the “leave PvP” option).
So going from anywhere to lion’s arch or any main town should be free for all, or should cost money for all…
In fact yes, I guess shield is fail… As if you look at many builds out there, most do not use a shield at all ^^
When I first played GW2, to me I saw the guardian as a sword and shield fighter, but in fact the shield is very situational, and not really needed… Many mobs apply conditions, and for that, the focus is more useful…
Why? I mean, when you are near others, PC or NPC, hitting the same mob, you’re definitively in a group. No need to create a real group
To me this is the strength of GW2, groups without the need to create one No more “elementalist need group” except for dungeons, now we just ask “champion at … anybody wants to help?”
Shouldn’t it be the opposite? If the player spec as a tank, the companion spec as a dps, in order to fix the player less dps ^^
As if the player spec as a tank, this perhaps means he will take the aggro (I said perhaps), and so a tank companion is useless.
I could be wrong though, I never played an elementalist…
As for myself I use a wired logitech illuminated keyboard. The backlight is a must have when I play late in the evening, and I can’t stand keyboards with big keys, I prefer keyboards with notebook kind of keys… thin ones…
I disagree. I may be wrong but, increased loot on champ will only lead to one thing: champ farming. And I think that ANet wants to avoid that. They prefer that you go hunt about anywhere on the map than farming champs…
Now if only the Bank paid interest for you electing to keep your money in their vaults…
lol yes we need this, interests for letting money in the bank ^^ not a lot, just a little
What is might btw? I mean unsure what the french word is so if someone can explain. Same as power?
You can have the fire field with a fire utility.
Oh btw I wonder… this build is about healing power… so can we imagine playing it with mace/shield for even more survability? Will the mace healing scale well with the healing power of this build?
In fact I have noticed I have the most issues against undeads, especially when you’re outnumbered, when you’re fighting a few at once. Undeads spam conditions, especially poison, you can remove them, sure, but as soon as you have removed one, another one is popping because there are many undeads.
And with poison your life drops that fast that I have to activate my condition removal signet, and so after that I have no more condition removal every 10s, except purity.
And often with undeads I have 4 or 5 conditions at once, too many for purity or the condition removal signet…
Hi,
Have you noticed how some links on some builds are broken, because the forum does not accept semicolons in a link? This is a problem, as it requires us to copy / past the link. Not a big issue, but usually you have to do it twice as the first thing you do usually is clicking on the link.
So for people posting builds, I have another solution… link shorteners.
There are quite a few out there, and they work fine, I have tested it.
Example : https://bitly.com/
So, instead of posting your link, go in this website, copy / paste your link there, then you just have to put the bitly link in the forum instead of your long link, and it will work just fine.
Thanks for reading, and happy build making ^^
I once stood in front of a keep door using my default staff attack. Acutally killed a guy on the other side.
Isn’t what ANet called an abuse, a bug that is forbidden to use till they found the fix for this? I remember reading something about this somewhere…
Usually as main weapon I use hammer, but this is just me. GS is neat as well of course.
As a second weapon, I use the staff. Why? Because it allows me to run faster, because there is a staff skill that adds power, and so then you switch for GS for max damage.
Scepter / Focus is great as well, because of the condition removal of the focus.
Scepter / shield is not that useful to me, mostly because if you have scepter this is because you need range, and the shield skill is short range, if you use it to damage the enemies as well.
What about range? Note that I only do pve. And in pve it is not often I really need range, as the monsters are fast on me and I cannot run fast enough, especially backward, to keep them at range while still doing damage to them. Though perhaps against distance enemies who shoot at you, a wall of reflection and the scepter could be fun… I guess with the good utilities you can do something fine against ranged enemies with the scepter.
I’m near 58 now. And yes, the mobs with heavy conditions are a pain, I can die quickly. Perhaps the utility which converts all conditions to boons would be fine then, and with AH (I don’t have it yet), more boons means more healing.
I still hesitate between this kind of build and the healway guardian build I saw elsewhere on the forum, perhaps at 60 I’ll try the healway path to check how it works…
