And this is where we learn how suggestions are falsified.
Not all classes have stunbreakers : the ranger has none against knockdown.

I’m fairly certain that Lightning Reflexes and Signet of Renewal are ranger’s skills.

Lightning Reflexes doesn’t work on knockdown.

Lieutenant Kholer: The pull is highly telegraphed and can be dodged or blocked by any ranged block skill or aegis.
Kholer’s minions: They only seem to have further range as they are above you. Pull Kholer down off the platform and engage him seperately. The minions will withdraw and allow you to kill just Kholer. After he is down, run up and wipe the minions with ease.
Graveling Breeders: Prioritize them and hit them hard.
Graveling Burrows: Prioritize right after the breeders. On path 1 (Hodgins) in the room with the burrows you can prevent the breeder from spawning with a hard enough preemptive strike on the burrow. Elementalist’s ice bow skill 4 with two players with bows can take out the burrow in about 1 second or so. I, personally, find that skill so useful that I don’t run AC without a party member being an ele (I have an ele alt, so I run it if noone else does).
Graveling Scavengers: They are a pain. If you can dodge their pounce, they will still do their full attack downed player animation making them not attack back for a short bit. If you do get pounced, use a stun-break. All classes have them and they are essential to surviving the scavengers if you do get pounced.

This dungeon can seem hard if you are not familiar with the tricks, but once you gain more experience you will see that this is not only one of the easiest dungeons, but also one of the better ones if you are simply looking to make money the honest way (aka not abusing the TP).

1/28 Dungeon update: Your thoughts?

I absolutely love the new “No WP after death” update!

Now the people who can’t hold their own in the dungeon with me find themselves watching me fight and win.. gives them a little time to rethink their strategy.

Edit: For example today – Had one person leave the Arah group right before Lupi, so we were stuck with 4. Couldn’t get another in (due to patching and people having a different client version). Ended up four manning Lupi, the Guardian and Elementalist friends were pretty bad at the fight (ended up dying during P2). My ele friend and I then proceeded to 2 man Lupi, no problem.

It makes everything so much more interesting

Perfect example that this patch’s intention is already failed.

I think the funniest part is that they noticed players were rezzing and wping a lot in some dungs but… they didn’t care to check why?
Instead they immediately concluded it was a rez-rushing abuse and nerfed the scaling down.

Best joke of the month.

Before I had exotics, I ran all these dungeons with Rares and green trinkets, no problem (I actually still have green trinkets). And yes, even Arah. It’s a combination of knowing/learning enemies attack patterns so you can dodge properly (and not waste it on useless things and be out of energy all the time), having a good trait setup, and the right utility’s at the right time. Obviously these things come with experience.

People need to fail these dungeons horribly, learn what they’re doing wrong and why they’re dying, adapt and succeed.

Except it’s not possible anymore : you fail (i.e. : you’re dead), you lay on the ground and wait…
There’s no experience when you’re forced to lay uselessly on the ground.

Thank you dungeon design team

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks challenge is a good thing in a game.

Fast-clicking on a mouse is not exactly what I can a challenge.

Thanks Anet to remind me that there are better games around.

The concept of a game not letting you do content if you weren’t good enough to do it is a foreign one – .

Then they should set all dungeons to lvl 80.

Modern gamers are not the breed of determined kittenes we used to know who reveled in the fact that they found something they failed at, and forced them to get better.

Actually, I would love a game like that.
I would love a game that forces me to be rezzed and to come back into the fight.
But here, it’s the exact opposite : players are forced to not get better in dungeon runs (either you’re already good at them or you don’t do them).

Because everyone at one point in their gw2 career was unprepared and ungeared.

That is the whole point of people doing those dungeons, for TOKENS so they can GET GEARED.

Are you telling me those people need to have the full exotic gears that they don’t have in order to run those dungeons in order to get those exotic gears?

Actually, that’s what the devs are telling : don’t run a dung if you’re not already geared (but then i’m trying to figure what’s the point of running a dung if we’re already geared….).

Arah and new WP mechanic...

Poor play? Wtf are you talking about? In every god kitten PuG at least one person dies in that fight. You are over punishing players who can’t spent all day preparing for Arah.

How is having decent gear and having played the game for long enough to be able to dodge/recognize attack patterns/listen to someone who’s done it before “spending all day preparing for Arah”?

Also if you pug and they’re terrible, you’re doing it to yourself. If you pug the hardest dungeon in the game and someone can’t keep up, then you only have yourself to blame.

Don’t take this as a personal attack, mind. It’s like if someone wanted to enter the pro starcraft scene and they’d never played an RTS before, they’re obviously not ready but you’re claiming they should get some kind of crutch that lets them get there. It’s not a personal attack, it’s a fact – if you can’t do arah, then you shouldn’t be able to rely on a blatant and broken crutch (waypoint zerging) to finish something that normally they wouldn’t be able to do (because they’re not able to dodge lupi’s attacks).

And this is exactly the problem as this new patch discourages even more teamplay.
It’s even more about solo builds who can handle themselves on their own and rely on no teamplay.
Let me requote you again :

I’m still not clearly understanding the definition of “something that players wouldn’t normally be able to do”… applied to a mmo playable to all.

There are obviously a lot of pros and cons to the WP issue.

Question though: what would people think about having the WP mechanic where you can’t res whilst party is in combat scale in difficulty?

Allow modes of difficulty, and appropriate achievements, that mean you can turn the feature on or off according to how your group wants to play?

It would make more sense.
Beginners would be able to do their first dung run and die and wp.
Skilled dung runners would have a challenging mode with wp disabled while in combat… and better rewards, of course.

“Polished dungeons and removed the ability to use waypoints while any player is in combat.”

From personal perspective I don’t find everything about this update to be completely ridiculous, such as the waypoint removal while party is in combat, as certain elements like this force the party to work together to a greater degree than previously.

What I disagree about this update is how it mixes an issue with a wrong answer.

Dungeons were designed to be highly focused on teamwork. The current res-rushing mechanic discourages the type of behavior we intended when a fellow player goes down.

Which is a lie.
Teamrezzing is discouraged by the fact that reviving pushs the player on top of the aggro, i.e. : the boss will change target to focus on the rezzer, making the reviving impossible to complete.

Teamrezzing will be even more discouraged with this update.

Run in > Die > Come back > Run in > Die > Come back

Rinse and repeat until the boss is dead, with no need to take note of mechanics of the fight.

How is that a good mechanic exactly?

Tell that to the Devs who added the “die” part…
This is their issue and we’re penalized for it.

This is a poor move as it reduces the possible strategies and open a wide door to elitism (read some answers here and you’ll see what i mean) while GW2 should be fun for all and not just the pro dungeon-runners.

Quoting the article :
““Res-rushing” is when a player uses a waypoint to resurrect immediately after being defeated in a dungeon and then runs back to the fight, instead of waiting for their party members to resurrect them.”

Then REMOVE the aggro from res !!!
