GW2 is the first game I encountered, in which the devs are not listening to the community.
They don’t reply, they don’t discuss and it feels like any complain is just ignored.
I don’t want to be salty or just hate about the devs, but please think about anet’s refuse to rework anything broken.
Other huge games release a new patch very often with more little tweaks and fixes to bring a class/character into a specific position, instead of huge and gamechanging patches.
A big patch wouldn’t be that bad, if they would also do the necessary tweaks afterwards, which anet don’t do.
Less patches a year than fingers at your hand.
The only thing anet response really fast if players discover a farm method, the rest is mostly abandoned.
I love this game, I hate anet’s lazy and ignorant patch policy.

I’ts sad, but true. I am a developer as well, and as I there are a lots of problems. It seems they don’t have enough time to polish. There is no balance in pve, because there is no money on it.

Let’s take a look at pvp. Pvp is an e-sport material, so it needs to have very good balance or nobody will play it. But as they polising pvp, and btw using the same numbers and mechanins as on pve, they wont have enough time to do it on pve as well. The 2 system should be completly separated from each other (like in WoW). It’s radicoulus to chose between traits when one is only useful in pvp and the other is useful in pve. Because it’s not a choice. So as the mechanics, the numbers and multipliers too have to follow a separeted design in the two mode. They give every class the same medals and gear stat possibilities. Belive me, impossible to balance such a thing. Or if not impossible, it takes way to much money to manage it.

Balance was never exsisted and never will.

Pve balance:
- every class should be able to do same amount of single target dps (in 10% range from each other)
- every class should have a burst setup
- every class should have an aoe setup
- every class should have a viable support setup
- every class should have a viable tanky setup
- every class should have a viable condi and a viable power setup for dps-ing

And last one is the bigest joke by a ranger perspective. Our condi dps is over 30k, our power dps hardly hit 20k. What the kitten is going on ANet. Did you tried it? Did you played with it for more than a half hour?
Then let’s take a look on tempest….
But we have a viable healer option. Hmmm. Really. I didn’t like druid when came out, but the time i started to love it. BUT I chose ranger, because I WANTED TO BE A kittenING RANGED DPS, like in every other mmo. And here is the problem. I have to be kittening healer, because ANet wants it. And what if I dont want. Oh then forget raids. (Or go condi ranger which i don’t like, the ranger wasn’t condi for years.)

Consider, not everybody have enough time to change classes like panties. New character means map completion + bag slots + lots of other repetitive thing which I don’t want to do again and BUY AGAIN with real money.

SO PLEASE ANet, don’t change the class roles, we chose a class because we want to be that, what archetype provides. You are playing with us as you like and FORCING us to do things as you want. And how to solve this problem? Give us proper balance and then I don’t have to change my playstyle to stay viable. Until it wont get fixed, I’m out.

Thank you for destroying my day with this stuck bug. Made my whole day free only for playing, doing masteries, enjoying new stuffs. In the next couple of days i wont have any time.
Failing in the FIRST, not in a random story instance after that, but in the FIRST one. What kind of testing is it? And where is fix? We’re speaking about this issue all day….

This not GW1 though. Thats like saying Warcraft fans should have say so in the direction of World of Warcraft gameplay. ..

Try more. Both GW 1 and GW 2 share the same universe, names, ideas, thematic s, lore, both are online required for play games. The creators are the same and still here, many prominent employees (field is irrelevant) are still the same since 10 years ago. List can go on and on. Guild Wars 1 was a hard game. An average GW 2 player would quit after 2 days. The game was and still is as of today very easy after the introduction of heroes, PvE only elites and title skills/buffs along with consumables. But before that we would cry in FoW, UW, Urgoz, The deep or in Sorrow’s Furnace.

I agree with OP, it is a nice step especially since the content in not forced on anyone through gear tiers for example. If you think, in the situation that the raid reward will be legendary armor pieces and not a precursor for a piece, that you are forced to do it because you want it, I would like to suggest that you are just jealous of people being better at a certain part of the content. Chances are a person who does not likes raids is at the moment not liking fractals/dungeons. Why would you NEED the new armor? For open world? It makes an galactic difference I am sure. For the QoL stat change? For where, again Open World? Since the only place that QoL would be useful is the content you do not play.

No more entitlement, more exclusivity. Let the only barrier that a casual player should met in this exclusivity, be its own stubbornness and refusal (on various reasons), and not because the game does not permit or if it does, it takes galactic effort.

Totally, 100% agree.

Fractal EndReward problem

Or just learn to read/pay attention to whats happening. In the dialog after successful fractal you dont even get to chose yes/no so that should be a giant clue by itself.

Say to that ppl who clicked on yes, pls. I’ts just a reflex for them, but the system could prevent this problems. You can’t teach them how to read.

Fractal EndReward problem

I think there is a huge problem with the fractal closure menchanism. In this week the second time trolled me somebody with returning before we get the fractal end chest (which can contain ascended).

Current problem:
We did the last boss.
Looted the boss chest.
Waited some second and someone pushed the “return” button.
Of course, nobody read in the team, just say yes. Probably they thougth this is the fractal end dialog.
And voila, we returned, without the main chest.

Solution:
After we finished the last boss in the last fractal, we musn’t push the return button. Just remove it for that time.

Or

Only teleport us back, if all 5 man say yes. Or 3 ppl enough to troll us.

Please fix this as soon as you can, it can be really anoying.

Great… the elitist attitude of a great number of “raiders” that drove me away from WoW has finally reared its ugly head in GW2. No, not all raiders are like that, but a lot of them are, and it is just so annoying. They can’t stand it that someone not socially comfortable with nine strangers, or people in a very small guild might get something awesome in some other facet of gameplay… y’know, ’cause raiding is so obviously the only part of any game that requires skill and they really need other people to pay attention to how skilled they are, because they have a psychedelic glowing chestpiece that shoots fireworks.

I realize that there are some things I will never acquire in the game- like a legendary weapon. I make an ascended one and deal with it. Not having something is not what makes me dubious about this change. It’s the fact that introducing raids into GW2 is just going to introduce toxicity, elitism and drama. Some of the replies to this thread already make that pretty obvious.

Just leave the game, we dont need toxic players like you. I’ll be a hardcore raider and I’ll as polite as i can with new ones and I’ll help them. It only depends on us. You are making opinion about something, what still haven’t realed and you haven’t tried it. Maybe, you try it and you’ll be bigest fun of the content…
Blaming something early means toxicity. What do you want know for developers? Delete raids? Or make some chestfarms for legendary armor? Or how could you imagine challanging content without unique rewards?

Nobody’s talking about “facerolling” anything except for straw men, but there should be alternatives that don’t involve having to participate in raiding. Raiding is not for everybody, that’s one of the main reasons why GW2 has players, because some people didn’t want to be playing WoW.

You probably misheard Colin but Gw2 raids are not WoW raids.

From what I read on their website, that’s pretty much what I gathered, though. Instances with (gimmick) mechanics that require you to execute certain steps in a certain order inside a very small margin of error to get exclusive shinies to brag with. That’s…WoW.

That’s called good pve content, that all other MMO’s have.

I’m sorry your blind hatred of WoW and general lack of MMO experience causes you to not see this.

Let’s just disagree on that. Yes, I hate scripted gimmick fights (and that’s the only thing I actually hate WoW for, btw – for inflicting this stuff on the MMO genre, because they really came up with it). Scripted fights are ultimately boring and the only reason why they are difficult at all is their ridiculously low margin for error in execution.

What I don’t understand nor ever will understand is why fans of said content come to the ONLY game not having it and nag the devs for three years to add it, instead of simply playing one of the 20 WoW clones providing that exact content.
Me? I was very happy that GW2 didn’t make me feel like a second class player and lock me out from content and desirable items just because I don’t and never will like WoW-style raids. There is a reason why I liked GW2 you know? It NOT being like other MMOs. Thing of the past, I guess. You guys couldn’t let people like me have ONE game that’s different and didn’t make me feel left out just because I don’t want to raid or be in a raiding guild. Congratulations. You won. I lost. I guess in the end the loudest voice always wins after all and I have to give it to the raiding crowd that they were both loud and persistent.

I played WOW for years. You dont know what are you saying. In WOW raiding is about getting better gear. LEGENDARY WONT GIVE ANY BETTER STAT. If you don’t want to play it, you wont get any reward.

There are unique fractal rewards.
There will be unique pvp rewards.
Unique www rewards.
And raiding rewards as well.
Crafing can give you ascended.

Different types of content has different rewards.
And there is nothing wrong with it.

AND JESUS WE ARE TALKING ABOUT SKINS. In wow, you know if you have better you are a god over who doeasn’t. That’s the huge difference.

YOU GUYS ALL WANT REWARDS FOR NOTHING. I hate this attitude and shows a weak personality. If you want a shiny thing, work for it.

What you want is an easier way to get the armor, its not happening.

No, I’m not looking for an easier method, just one that doesn’t involve raiding. Raiding is not a fun way to spend my time in game. If you enjoy raiding, then that’s great, you raid, but there’s no reason I should have to.

You can get it by paying gold! That is all you need. pay gold and afk at the entrance.

That sounds like a really fun way to spend an evening, but I think I’d really prefer to actually be playing the game instead, just in a different area.

All part of the game has their own rewards. Please let us to be rewarded for challanging content in a unique way. I’ts a perfect decison from Anet, because if you see somebody with a legendary fractal back, you know, omg that man did the lvl 100 fractal, and the same with legendary pvp back. Let raiders a unique reward as well. If you play just a casual way, you wont need for a stat change item anyway. That’s only what legendrary armor pieces can do.

As I said, my story was an example (true, but it doesn’t matter that much). I’m watching this as a software developer. You are a zerker as you said, speed runner, high risk high reward player. No problem with this. But the only way to do this in this game binded to the following 3 thing: power, precision, ferocity. You can’t use conditions, you can’t be tanky, you can’t be true support, you have to go power to reach your goal. And this is the problem.

Ok, you can say, you can find a condi based team. Make a video about, how much time you need to get one (I bet at least 30 minute without friends) (and everybody in team have to have a decent usable condi build). Belive me ppl only know this. The majority of players playing metazerk only (especially the skilled ones). Hard to get sikilled ppl from the another side.

Think yourself in a situation as a new player. In the most ad in LFG you see, zerk, if you not see, they think you’ll be zerk, because everybody is zerk. So you start to build yourself to it, because community force you, other way, they just dont want to play with you. Of course, build your own society. Man, it’s not that easy, especially for a newbie. So the new player gona be zerk and until he not realise that this isn’t the only way, will become flamer againts anything new. This attitude is a problem.

There is 8 profession in game, why everybody uses the same stats? Why can’t a condi build fit to a zerker one? Why an overall celestial build can’t fit to it?

As an eye of a developer it’s a mistake from developers. If you’re saying you’re zerker, its only about stats, not a play style. If it’s a play style why other stats doesn’t support it? Why we are forced to use not fun skills? Why we can’t ,,zerk" with a condi build? Because the fault of the system. The system of the game gives the potential to the zerk. Other builds should be more viable. Thats all. I don’t want to kill the berzerk now , my rage has ended, but we need better alternatives.

Anyway, zerker is only, ONLY good because the system of the game supports it. It’s not about skill or combo. If every profession’s best gear is zerker there is a problem.

My story was just an example for a problem. Because it is. You can be sure there is a lot of player (most of player), who think: the meta is the only way, and players without is just noobs, because they don’t understand the game… This is the current attitude and it isn’t healthy. They wont come to the forum, they wont start arguing about it, just believing the s.hh.t. So we have to make moves, to saying to them: this isn’t the only way. And have to create mechanins in the game to support this idea. And that’s why I started this conversation. Anyway I gave some solution and idea too.

either you played badly or they. Group broke up. Your and their playstyle apparently donĀ“t mix well. you probably will not team with them again. Problem solved, zerker ok. Credits.

Ok, my playstlye doesn’t fit with zerker team, and I’ll never play with them again, but EVERYBODY play with zerker. So you’re saying, if I’m playing a unique way (which is good anyway) I’ll never get a team who can deal with me. Of course in most of the times we can do dungeons easly, just getting so bored about this playstyle, we need more alternatives, and changing, and everybody should look around his build. They shouls ask about themselves, really like their builds? Fun to play? Or just forced to use it, because everybody use it. We should start creating unique ones, creative ones, and that’s why we have to kill the meta. Don’t say me it’s fun, if everybody use the same gear.

I fed up with this berserker stuff. I’m relatively new in the game, I’m playing it for almost 1 year, but today I had an experiance, which was so dissapointinting. So the stroy:

I went to a dungeon (Twiligth arbor up/fwd), and my teammates died a lot of times. I said them they shouldn’t use the zerker meta, they getting to be too squishy with it and can’t deal with the dmg. Of course there was a zerker fun guys, who explained me we died because of lack of dps. WHAT THE BLOODY HELL? Everybody in zerker (expect me, I have 4 celectial, rest zerker) and he said we don’t have enough dmg. They dying from 1 shot, but yeah, as he said: if EVERYBODY would have full zerker in the team we wouldn’t die. I thought, OK, lets move on. At the near of the end, they died again, I was only alive and they kicked me, saying we need full meta zerker. Because I was the problem there, I wasnt had full zerker gear and didn’t use the full meta build so we didn’t have enough dps and that’s why we died. (I’ve made the dungeon about 50 times before, you can be sure I was very good, I have very good dps without full zerker.)

I’m sick from this. What is this, why am I forced to a not even fun build and gear setup.?ArenaNet have to end this madness. We have to kill this mentality in game. Enemies needs more dmg to kill the zerkers instanly, or at least need some tank to the team who mitigate the dmg, and kind of healers as well. I’m not saying making another wow, just don’t do like this. Make sure about not the berserker the fastest way to go through a dungeon and pls SAY IT TO THE PLAYER BASE, communicate to them, explain it, make a post about it. Because they are still in a belive about zerker zerker zerker. They can’t make a build alone, just using ugly meta and blaming us for not using it.

Anyway, I don’t understand how zerker can be this good. People have a lack of surviveability, so they’re falling more times, they loose dps. And teammates looses dps as well, because they have to help. But actually in a lot of situation when a zerker starts revieve an another zerker, he’s falling too, it’s just so anoying.

And what zerker boys saying: you have to be fast, good, with good reflexes, you can dodge, WITHOUT A SINGLE MISTAKE, and this way you’re gona have huge dps. I’ts not bad at all, but forcing everybody to use it maybe not the best deceison. I’m a hardcore player, in every game I want to be the best, but I want to be unique as well. In spite of this there are players (like my girlfriend who’s palying with me) who doesn’t have this good reflexes, abilities and knowledge about what stats they need, just go up to the internet, wathcing what is the current meta, oh, berserker gear with full dps stuffs, allright. And they’re falling with it so hard.

I beg you, kill the zerker and wash our pain away. Make us more reliable choices to make our own build, without chains and meta stuffs, and make them as much as good, if not better than this. (You can still hold the zerker just give us better alternatives.)

Solution:
Make tanks, healers and overall supports more viable. They have to be a good choice anD have to grant access some utilies to go faster through the dungeons (and not just migth stacking and stealth). Because all about the time, that’s why zerker is exsist. Or make the zerkers much more vulnerable. Really, a single mistake: die, standing in an aoe: die, getting shot from an enemy: half life, this way, tanks would be viable choices. Maybe there should be some dmg redirection mechanic for every tank profession, and good aoe heals as well (like wash the pain away). For making tanks even better, create some aggro system, which not based on dmg dealt, but some abilities (tank abilities) should generate more, maybe it should be based on thougness and vitality. (Thoughness + vitality) * (dmg dealt/2) = aggro dealing to enemy. (I’m a programmer, i know this is the easiest way to deal with the problem ).

I hope elite specs will partially solve this problem, but still need some upgrade for dungeons and fractals to support this playstyles.

Sry for long post, tl;dr: I HATE ZERKER META.

Honestly I am tired of the DPS focus in this game. Want more other roles. Hopefully Druid fills those other roles better

Can’t watch the video right now. Care to sum up what you trying to say in the video?
Because the Support,Control,Damage trinity really doesn’t exist because damage is not equal in role to control and support.

it’s a summary of how control and support are very much key roles in the dungeon meta, but people see “you’re expected to do at least one of those roles and damage at the same time” and think “NOPE, DPS IS ALL THERE IS TO GW2”.

it basically says that just because you’re not fully specced into support, doesn’t mean it’s not there (the meta dungeon builds in fact aren’t the optimal DPS builds), same with control.

he also provides a ton of examples of support and control coming into play in organized groups to speed up the dungeon clearing process, so that people don’t say it’s all talk and no show.

in other words, it’s not a DPS meta, it’s a hybrid meta. everyone has to do everything for the best outcome, which is actually the original idea behind the GW2 combat. “no one is stuck to a dedicated role, the whole team shares all 3 cores of combat”

Actually, ranger meta is full, totally dps now….

I have laptop and fps drop is a big problem to me (as well for my girlfriend), my pc:
i3 2328M
4Gb RAM
GT 620M

I know it’s not a hard config but it did well on gw2 at all. Until these days.

I’m a developer (programmer) anyway, I’m working at IBM (you can say now, this guy is working for the IBM and have this kitten laptop, but c’mon I’m just 21 and I’m form Hungary).

So, my fps in the old areas is very good and playable, avarege of 30-40, and don’t have too much problems with group content either (thanks for good options). But in the beta area my fps was under the playable, comfortable level (about 10-20). As a developer, I know, the optimization is the last, because a lot of things are volatile, the debug stuffs are in and who cares about performance when a lot of other stuff doesn’t work properly yet. I hope that’s the case here, but if not, please do something with it, mesaure which graphical functions suck the fps, and make them removable, but be careful about not to make it too ugly.
Belive me, the key to the success is the good engine (graphical). And you have it, for example Lions Arc is awsome, and the fps is good as well.

I love this game, I pre-d it, but don’t say me I have to buy a new laptop to play with. I know the new expansion looks prettier and this needs harder pc, but this way you lose your audience. (look at WoW, 10 ten year and still the same engine = profit)
Guild Wars 2 has nice graphics at all, don’t ruin it with some fancy smoke effect (this caused the most problem). The other problem was with some enemy area effect.

For example, as you made it in LA the colors are very important, also you can simulate the shadows with it, instead of dynamic ligth, use static ones, and put less smoke to the map.
I’ve recognized that’s maybe because of the huge maps with more vertical levels and with a lot of object, there are more stuff in memory. I don’t know, load distance and the displayed objects distance how exactly working, but I hope, it’s not only about horizontally range. Calculate it maybe vertically too.
And at last, please test the game in older pc-s too, and on laptops like mine, because in Hungary for example, my laptop not bad at all. A lot of ppl can’t afford a better one. So if you want to hold you gamers of the poorer countries, please make the game optimized, just like you did until now

I beg you, make it playable, make it run smoother, but hold the quality of the graphics as you can and this game going to have a huge success and Guild Wars 2 will be the best MMO in the world.
