Guild Wars 2

So I’ve had this laptop for a few years and the heat hasn’t changed on this thing yet which I’m extremely thankful for. That being said, I would like to play this game but I do need a bit of advice from you people with laptops.

I can play the game on all low settings at pretty good FPS 40-60, but I do like to limit my FPS to 30 to reduce heat. My question is, my CPU heat is around 75-85C, is this normal for a laptop?

Hello, I’ve been trying to look for an answer for this for quite a while as I believe it would make playing this quite better. Is there anyway currently for the game’s FPS to reduce down to a certain number (say, 5-8FPS) while the game window is out of focus? I’ve seen a lot of games do this and thought it might help me play GW2 as I do play on a laptop. If not is there anyway to let the team know about this? I’m sorry if this is in the wrong forum by the way, but I thought this might be something someone from the team may be able to see if its on these forums. Thank you.

Admittedly haven’t read the entire thread, but I have a laptop with an 860M, i7 processor, and used to get around 50-60 FPS and now can’t get above 32. Changing the settings have no impact (including Shadows, which I would expect would be a big FPS increase to turn off).

I recently installed the latest nvidia update which included the NVidia Experience for GW2. I haven’t tweaked any of the settings but could this be related?

What is your GPU/CPU heat like?

Ice Mage, how is the heat from your laptop whilst playing this game? I’d like to know since you’re one of the few that plays on a laptop besides myself.

This is scary, as I was going to be starting to play this game again. I’ve looked through the thread as much as I possible could, but could anyone say that plays on a laptop what the performance updates did in case of heat? My card ran the game at around 70-75C beforehand.

Is the impact greater for laptops or is it simply desktop oriented?
