Just did a round of 1000 shots myself — completely stripped down, 20 trait points in tools for ‘scope’ only. 4% base crit…
54 shots out of 1000 critted. So, 5.4% chance. Granted, I don’t think I was 100% accurate in my count (used a tally program on my phone and had to look away from the screen a couple times) but I’m pretty sure there’s not a margin of error in it enough to account for not recording 100-ish crits.
If people -really- want me to, I can look into recording a round outright and editing in a running tally on screen, then uploading to youtube or something.
So uh, tell us which main attack we’re supposed to be using that’s not AoE, then?
Med Kit?
I know you’re joking, but…
Nah, the attack on Med Kit (explosion from refined kits; still not sure why refined kits adds a bomb to your medkit) is PBAoE. Likely to be nerfed too, since it’s not technically a melee cleave :P
This topic title is misleading. Girls don’t play games…that’s a myth.
On topic: nearly every profession forum has posts that think this is a bad thing. AN wants to reduce the use of AoE against single targets. That means changing loadouts based upon the upcoming encounter (can’t just run grenades or bombs the whole dungeon). Supposedly this will reduce zergs in WvW. I still struggle to understand the logic behind that one.
So uh, tell us which main attack we’re supposed to be using that’s not AoE, then?
So, considering everything engineers do is aoe damage, aside from like… static discharge, and the crowbar skill on tool kit.
Does this mean we’re officially done for?
(Rifle shots pierce. AoE. I don’t think it’s escaping. Plus, it’s a mainhand weapon attack, which means engineers are supposed to suck at it.)
“Myko Meowmeow”
I can only assume your ranger’s spent much too much time out roaming the lands, and has formed Meow warband consisting of herself and her ranger pets. :P
8/10, I laughed
(May as well toss mine up here again, since last time I tried things were lost in forum pages acting silly :P)
Illyume – male engineer. I use the name a lot, and it didn’t seem too out of place. He’s a gladium, so he doesn’t get any nifty surname.
Ahnassi Silentpaw – female thief. I liked the reference too much to pass up on it. I’ve noticed quite a few ‘Paw’ warbands around, which makes me a little sad I picked that as her warband name, but eh…
Krisara Goretalon – female warrior. Part of the Talon warband: Moa ranchers, and in her opinion quite boring. She got the Gore part of her name on account of being one of the more ‘spirited’ of her group.
1h sword swing animation is terrible on Charr, I agree. I’ve noticed this on both my thief, and my warrior.
I was thinking about a white tiger look for my warrior, but then I realized just this phenomenon.
Instead, I now have a tawny-brown engineer, a golden-orangeyellow thief, and a panther-black warrior.
I’m not real fond of the voice acting either (starting to get used to it at least), but it’s worth it, for how awesome the female Charr look.
I can confirm. My Charr’s eaten lots of chocolate cakes, and he’s still kicking. :P
Manah, that set actually looks pretty neat. o.o
I’d probably copy at least some of it if I had a light-armor Charr.
First one here’s my engineer. Primary character I play, and so far, he’s by far my favorite.
I’ll pitch in with support for the thief option — they’re the only class I can think of that really excel at the whole popping in and out of combat thing, with the way their stealth mechanic works. It gets all the better when you go 15 points into their Shadow Arts tree and pick up “Infusion of Shadow”. With a dagger off-hand you can basically pop in and out of stealth forever.
Dont really want to judge other peoples names but I’m going to make a Charr thief named Charrtemis Entreri
Clever (8/10) but not very Charr-like (2/10).
5/10 overall?
My Charr characters:

It seems to me that in many games you’ll find more humans/humanoids played than any other race. Does anyone know the breakdown of race for WoW? Did the Horde get a big population boost when the Blood Elves came on the scene, for example?
http://www.warcraftrealms.com/census.php
It’s actually a lot more even than I would have expected…
I do remember a time, however, when Horde-side was very, very heavily skewed toward Blood Elves.
Ack, confusion stacks, yeah they hurt.
Even worse, they toss weakness on you too!
I’ve been killed a number of times because my elixir gun’s heal-field decided to strip weakness (which I don’t really care so much about; most of my damage comes from conditions anyway) instead of stripping the 8+ stacks of confusion. Next thing I know, I’ve accidentally auto-attacked twice, and I’m lying on the ground.
:S
I feel like I ought to post my feelings on this jump puzzle too.
I enjoy the heck outta this thing! Took me a few tries to get it, but after that I’ve been getting runs down smoother and smoother.
The quaggan trail (one on the very right) is kind of boring… and the snowman one (the one in the middle) has that really annoying jump from the side-sticking candycanes to the snowflake waaaaay off to the right…
But I have a lot of fun with the gingerbread path (one on the very left)! It’s got a lot of semi-tricky jumps that get easier once you get a feel for what spot on the previous snowflake is safe to jump from, and that nice split in the path near where the snowflakes turn to peppermint-disc platforms.
Also, the pacing feels about perfect, really. There’s enough leeway for some pause and maybe one or two small mistakes, but enough pressure to keep you moving.
PS: If you’re running into issues with snowflakes disappearing from beneath yourself, you’re moving too slowly to finish the puzzle. Keep the pace up, don’t stop moving unless it’s to position a very difficult jump or to wait for mechanics (wind/snowballs), and be sure to use right-click turning and full wasd movement for precise positioning!
Hmm, I’m quite fond of the whole trapper’s set on a ranger, though admittedly the helm feels kind of out of place on it.
How do you feel these coats might look with the trapper shoulders/gloves?
PVP Orrian Coat
Whispers Coat
Vigil Coat
Acalonian Leather Chestguard
Of a quick-look through, those stood out most to me as both fitting the theme of the trapper’s pieces you mentioned, while also looking alright on a Charr.
I’d say the mistwalker WvWvW coat too… but… ugh, the stretch and the huge bustle on that one. Kittens. Kittens and fluff. :/
Hmm, that really depends on what sort of look you’re going for, and what sorts of ‘faults’ you’re willing to put up with in your gear’s appearance.
Are you going for something more tough and bulky? Sleek? Clean and refined? Ferocious and primitive?
Hmm, which shoulders and gloves did you like? Maybe that’s a good starting point.
A while back, I was running around in a full set of the crafted exotic medium armor (dragonscale-looking stuff) with red-hued scales, and ‘lemon ice’ (a very light, goldikitteninted color) for the trim…
Some sylvari in Caledon Forest (where I was running around to work on world completion) mistook the lemon ice as being white, and thought my outfit looked rather Christmas-ish… and took to calling me “Santa Charr, Santa Charr!”
I changed my color scheme to green+gold (with ‘sand dye’ for a less white-ish tone) soon afterward.
But for posterity’s sake:

" sed s/bleedD/bleeds/ "
Problem solved (if files hosting tooltip data are set up on a server that runs the sed command, anyway). I really thought this would have been corrected by now!
While we’re at it, can we get numbers on how long this skill bleeds/cripples for? And maybe numbers on impact damage/etc?
