Wow, thanks for all of this help guys! I’ve learnt a lot I didn’t know before! I’m definitely going to have to start doing some of the things you’ve all reccomended. Thanks!
I’ve had a look at the sticky of what to do at 80, But I’m still a bit confused.
I just hit 80 with my thief.. I’m trying to get a full valkyrie set. And I’ve got all rare gear bought from the TP which is valkyrie. I’ve got my leatherworking and weaponcrafting up to 400 so crafting is an option.
How do I go about getting the best exotic gear atm? Do I need to get last tiers exotic gear and then there is this tiers exotic gear? Does this game even have tiers!?
I hope you can help me in my quest for epic loot.
Berserker’s Prowler Mask, Shoulders, Coat, Legs, Boots, Gloves.
MH: Rampager’s Krait Ripper OH: Valkyrie Krait Ripper / Sentinel’s Krait Short Bow
Soldier’s Field Guide, Chrysocola Mithril Earring of Carrion, Chrysocola Mithril Amulet of Carrion, Berserker’s Ring, Penetrating Ring.
All of these items are rare quality. I don’t even know how to get started on earning exotic items
I just picked items with stats that seemed useful – Thinking a bit of toughness and vitality would be of use but I honestly don’t have a clue. So all help would be appreciated!
Hi, I’ve leveled my thief up via crafting. However, I did play by leveling for like 15 levels from 40-55.
I’m not going to claim that I am thoroughly aware of all things thief. But I’ve put together this: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fYAQNAoYVlUmiP3ey5E9JFxWhdy9wpItp+C0ZQzWC build, thinking its good – but In WvW it doesn’t seem very good!
I don’t have a lot of money – So I can’t really afford to replace my whole set of weapons and armor but I’m sure some things I can buy replacements for.
I have all berserker rare armor. Is this a good choice?
Also, a sort of ‘rotation’ would be really helpful – or what abilities to be using when. Since I only really know anything about S/P.
I’m looking for a build that is straight up power, Stealth is pretty cool – but it’s something I’d be willing to sacrifice if I could get a better build without stealth.
I have a thief at level 40 right now. I am enjoying my thief, don’t get me wrong – it’s a great class with lots of potential different builds etc..
I have around 50 gold right now, and I am going to do some crafting to level up a character. I could either get my thief up to 80 (yay) or create a Mesmer, and get that to about level 50.
I’m not asking which class is better, because in the long term I want to have both of these classes at level 80. But what I’m asking is, is the gold gain exponential as you level up? So maybe I would be better off having one level 80 than 2 level 40/50s? Then I could earn some gold with my thief, and just craft up my Mesmer?
Thanks for all the responses everybody, I’ve decided I’m going to go Human, I like the look of those and from what I’ve played of them – the storyline is quite good. I think I’m going to have a play of elementalist again though just to see if I enjoy that because looking online, dagger elementalist looks super fun!
Thanks again for all your help, the GW2 community really is great
Hi, I’ve decided that I like the caster classes in guildwars 2 Mesmer looks really interesting, necromancer is fun to play and I like the whole disease aspect of the class but they don’t seem to be very good looking at posts in the necro forums, I have elemental a go and it was great fun but it was really difficult to play and I dont know if I have the skill :P
I’m a complete noob to the game, I bought it on release but am only beginning to play now really.- which of the 3 faster classes would be best to somebody who’s new. I’m not looking for a fast class to level, I’m looking forwards to seeing story etc of the game, but I do want to be going at a reasonable pace so I feel like I’m making progress.
Based on this, which of the 3 caster classes would be best for me? And what race should I pick, I want a race with an interesting storyline and nice zones. I enjoyed the human starting zone but haven’t really taken the time to look into the others.
Oh, and sorry if I’ve posted this in the wrong forum. I couldn’t find a newcomer type forum..
Thanks!
Edit: also, how’d do you level up in gw2? I don’t see quests anywhere, or anything similar.. Is doing your characters main storyline quests faster than doing quests out in the wild?

I don’t know much about the classes in Guildwars 2. I started playing at release but stopped to play another well known popular mmo – Well know, I’m back, but I don’t know what class I should play.
I want a class thats pretty simple to master and doesn’t have any crazy mechanics such as the elementalist. I do however like the idea of a magic based class but only if It has a bit of survivability to it.
Saying that however, on the complete opposite end of the spectrum I do enjoy melee classes aswell, such as warriors and gaurdians I suppose.
I was thinking about warrior, apparently thats easy to play. But I was also liking the look of a mesmer but apparently that class isn’t very good early on but is really good later in the game? Is that true?
Thanks.
