Ricky said: if the beta doesn’t help, I believe version 316 or 310 was a good build for nvidia to go back to.
Actually, the 314 NVidia drivers seem the most stable for most folks. But there is still an issue. And it is in GW2’s court.

Try doing a clean install of the 314 NVidia drivers. They give me the least trouble. I run with two GTX 295 cards.
Indeed, avoid the 320.18 NVidia drivers. The 314 drivers give me the least issues—notice, I didn’t say ‘no issues’. I still crash now and then in different parts of the game (look at my posting history to see more details on that).
Helped what? Some details would be nice
I’ve been dealing with this crash issue since I installed the game about a month ago:
—> Crash <—
Assertion: (m_dims.x == highResDims.x >> 1) && (m_dims.y == highResDims.y >> 1)
File: ..\..\..\Engine\Gr\Dx9\Dx9Tex.cpp(1154)
I use the 3.14 nVidia drivers. Tried older drives and get the BlackScreen (not fixable with the suggested fix), and tried the 320 drivers (the ones just prior to the version you suggested) and the game crashes with the error above immediately upon logging in a character. It’s not just my issue. Me and several others players are disparate for a resolution to this issue. If these latest beta drivers help, I’d like to know—yeah, I’ll try them and see what happens.

Same error here. I’ve found that this error occurs more in certain areas of the game. I avoid those areas and I crash much less. The crash starts with the game freezing followed shortly by crashing to the “Submit Error Report” dialog. I’ve had some luck Alt+Tabbing out of the game when it freezes, then Alt+Tabbing back into the game and it unfreezes and is playable again. So I can prevent the crash if I’m fast enough.

@SolarNova: What you are recommending is completely unnecessary. I have zero issues with any other games I play (AoC, LoTRO, TSW, ME, ME2). This crashing problem only happens in GW2. Heck, GW2 won’t even run without crashing immediately if I have the latest NVidia drivers (320) installed. It is a GW2 issue. While there are players here and there that have hardware/software problems that contribute to this issue, it is still primarily a GW2 problem. I appreciate your suggestions, but it shifts all the blame onto people’s computers. And that is not where all the blame lies.

My saga so far with this issue. I have a quad-SLI setup with 2 NVidia GTX-295 cards. I was using the 314 drivers when I installed the game about 2 weeks ago. This is the crash error I am getting:
Assertion: (m_dims.x == highResDims.x >> 1) && (m_dims.y == highResDims.y >> 1)
File: ..\..\..\Engine\Gr\Dx9\Dx9Tex.cpp(1154)
I had one character (human warrior) who was crashing about once every 30 minutes, and a Sylvari Elementalist who was crashing regularly within 30 seconds of logging her in.
I reverted my drivers to the 306 version and I got the Black Screen problem whenever I logged in a character (no crashing now). But the “fix” for the Black Screen problem did not work for me (set Anti-Aliasing to Application, which it already was). So next I installed the latest drivers (320)—bad idea, now the game crashed immediately upon logging in a character. So I reverted back to the 314 drivers and deleted my characters that crashed regularly and made a new character. I was able to play the new character for over an hour without a crash. But then I got a crash on that character as well. I made another new character and so far no crash, but I’ve only played them less than an hour. I see more crashing in my future.
Dear devs, can we get a fix for this problem, which really does seem to be game related.

The game freezes and Alt-Tabbing reveals the Graphic Error crash dialog. The ArenaNet.log file has this info:

When I first installed the game a few days ago I had no issues at all. Played hours on end with no problems. Then a couple days ago I had a crash. But just once that day. Yesterday had several crashes. And now today I can’t play for more than a minute without the same crash. I did a -repair. My graphic drivers are up-to-date. And I play AoC and LoTRO with graphics set to maximum without any issues.
Edit to add: The crashing ties itself to a particular character. I can log in an alt and the crashing is far less frequent. I have one character who always crashes within a minute, and another who I can play for an hour before crashing the same way.
