Cool I kind of figured that I just didn’t want to assume anything. I get in trouble when I do that.

It figures,. you get home from class all ready to game and some yahoo cuts the cable line.

I wish I had 10gb connection. its just the most basic cable at 768k. I can dl 4gb or so a day thru my internet download manager so that would still be faster than what im experiencing with Anets servers. ive forwarded ports done the msconfig to turn off processes. so now my only real hope is that I can get a dl link from Sobe

I was thinking about this and I figured you might want to PM me the d/l link so access directly to your pc isn’t on the forums for every idiot to see. it might be safer

my email maxes out at 15 o4r Id prob take you up on that. I see where your coming from as far as patches. I agree there, as those are usually small.

Can you just imagine how many of these posts would not exist and how much time the tech people would have to help others if there was a viable download/patch alternate????

You can try downloading BattlePing from: http://www.battleping.com/setup.php and see if that allows you to download the game more efficiently. You have to create an account (No email verification needed, it’s very quick), copy-paste in the activation code you get from the post register screen along with entering your credentials you just registered with, and then select and connect to a server that is near you.

BP does disconnect every 20 minutes but the Guild Wars 2 launcher should pick back up where it left off when you reconnect.

Its only supposed to disconnect if your not a member. I did d/l it and try it but my connection still dropped to 0 for no apparent reason. Thanks for the help though

Strange question, I have downloaded about 3-4gb so far and yet the folder only shows 1.8gb. At the same time my disc shows about the 3-4gb the launcher does. Where did the rest go?

I have seen other posts showing Port 80 and other ports mentoned as the ports needed for connection to Anet.

will the following work or can this only be done one port at a time

“C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” /clientport 80, 443, 6112, 6600

I have tried all the things that the tech support people have said.
turning off/on firewalls
sending reports from hackthis program
trying specific ports
growling at my isp (Who say its not their side)

My download wont stay running consistently enough to d/l such a large program. I can download other games/patches or items thru my download manager fine. So that leaves me to believe it has to be AN’s side.

If anyone has an alternate download option I would love to hear it, or I will not be able to play. Im at 3-4gb and I know this game is in the teens to 20’s in gig size.

p.s. I am not trying to disparage arenanet I just want it to be clear I have tried all I can and its out of my hands at this point

No idea if this is an issue or not, but here goes. Ive had launcher issues, the typical drops to 0 issue. I think I have that worked out but now my question is this….

The launcher states its downloaded about 5gb but the folder shows 3gb does the launcher know something my pc doesn’t????
