I think you are more disappointed by the fact that the immortal ele is replaced by immortal mesmer. Just because your class does not feel as powerful as before doesnt mean it has suddenly become boring.
Tempest is very fun to play. I like how i can keep my team alive and fully heal them in few seconds, rather than just run around being unkillable as before the expansion.
It is a matter of personal preference. If you are enjoying D/D arcane then continue to play as one, but dont bash on the specialization.
Specs are supposed to give an alternative style of playing the class. To my eyes more options mean more interesting gameplay. It would be boring if the Tempest offered the same play-style as core ele. Core Ele is more of a back line-stance swapping class, but as a Tempest you are a front line support that focuses on 1 or 2 attunements at a time.

The only thing harming the community is the existence of sheep like you believing what Nemesis says. There is no such thing as the “idea of a meta”, there is a metagame just like in all other games, the definition of it being what stands out in terms of efficiency to complete the content. If you aren’t even able to grasp this, go back to killing does in Queen’s Dale.

You are not paying for a sub fee, you are not paying for game releases and patches and you have not a single pay wall in the game. So paying 50 after 3 years of gameplay, makes it an 100 dollars/euros for 3 years so far and possible 3 years more of game play. That is actually super cheap. If you dont believe it s cheap then you should check the prices on other MMO … lol

also on smaller targets meterors are not so effective while for 100b target size does not matter + as you already noticed build will be v. squishy and its practical usage in harder content like fractals 50+will be limited. I still choose a warrior.

Btw. this remainds me of a talk on reddit where some other silly guy tried to prove Strife (who unfortunatelly left this game for WOW) that guardian dps is bigger than warrior. Strife provided 3 movies as prooffs but the idiot still claimed that guard deals more damage.

No class can deal 20k. That’s an outright lie and you need to stop listening to bads. People are referring to stuff like Hundred Blades which has a long recharge and takes four seconds to complete, during which time you will hit for much more with a combination of Lava Font and Fireball. Even unbuffed I easily see huge numbers coming from those two skills. Learn to addition, maybe.

is 6 seconds long recharge?:O and 4 seconds to complete… 20 k every 10 seconds sound OP to me.

Elementalist might be able to top that using Bolt to the Heart, Ember’s Might/Burning Rage, Stone Splinters, Shard of Ice+Piercing Shards lightning flash +arcane wave or churning earth with a brutal zerker build.

Some many skills at so little time. Plus all the cds until u use them again. Warriors have hundred blades every 6 seconds.

Why rly? because a 200 heal on a 30k damage per second that a warrior can deal, would be an issue.

So please… give me a break. Warriors have nothing to complain about. Once upon a time they were underpowered at spvp… and now they are like gods! and they come in masses as well.

Staff-support is not a good idea for events/heart/map completion, as the staff as a weapons offers poor defense. It s perfect for dungeon support but it will prolly kill u in open world pve.
If i were you i would take a look at builds that focus on Auras, with D/D or S/D. Those weapons offer more dmg and mobility which u will treasure in open world pve. Plus Aura-focused-builds are awsome for support as well.
Top 2 choices to focus as a support.
1. Staff build focusing on Boons and Combo fields
2. D/D or S/D builds focusing on Aura sharing and Boon sharing.

you will find plenty of them in forums. try them out.

It is true that very recently people got HOW to play the class. Dont mind the hyper defensive trolls. Things didnt change much since lost shores. Many bug fixes but no major changes. But i think you got it all wrong back then …
My guess is that you went for staff ele, that is why u maybe disappointed by dmg and survivability. Try D/D or S/D, i think you will find it more fitting.
The truth is that newcomers to the class dont get that Staff as a weapon is designed for aoe-combo field offering and support. It is a squishy choice and a low dps one as well (compared to S/D).
