ANet u wanna comment on this please? Maybe you are working on something? You guys should atleast let us know whats going on cause to be honest i dont see the gw2 community running things very well.
Id be surprised to get a dev in here tho
worth a shot….
LOL, good luck with that. They don’t care. What you have is what you get with this game. Take it or leave it.
Yup, I’m actually surprised by the amount of people still playing this game. Anet has made it clear they don’t give a crap about the PvP community all they care about is these fluffy BS living story events. My guess is that they shipped of most of their Devs to other projects and there is a very small crew working on The game, they already said there won’t be any expansions to the game which just goes to show they don’t plan on making the big changes additions this game needs so all there is to look forward to are small tweaks/nerfs to classes and buggy new maps every now and then. If you are waiting for them to fix the game I wouldn’t hold my breath and I really wouldn’t bother trying to tell them anything in this forum they don’t read it.
No absolutely not
I find it funny that it is clear to everyone that there is an issue here and can think of ways to fix it but the people taking our money are completely clueless and obviously don’t care because we are still giving them our money, perhaps the best fix to this issue is to queue up for another game? and leave these fine folks at Anet or whatever company that is actually running the show to THEIR game because that is what it is, THEIR game and everyone else be kitten ed.
10 months after release and this is STILL the #1 WvW issue, yet absolutely nothing has been done about it. gee I wonder why people are leaving this game in droves? this game had such potential but again its lead by Devs who don’t give a rats crap about their player base. instead of putting in tiered population caps on boarderlands they keep spending their time on fluff events. the game has no endgame PvP or PvE content at all, I guess its my fault I keep coming back thinking they are listening only to realize once again that im deluding myself, so disappointing. oh well, once all the MMOs on the horizon launch this game will DIE the quick death it deserves.
I have been looking for a support build for a while now and this one looks promising but I have a few questions for you
-what is the radius on the mantra heal and the rune proc? ive looked around but no tool tips seem to show it.
-I know the regen will scale with healing power but does the restorative mantra trait scale with healing power?
that’s it for now, I might have some more once I get a chance to try it out a bit more
I agree with you fisher, Guardians can be good roamers if you have the gear, know what your strengths and weaknesses are and know what your opponent is going to do. I have 3 different gear sets/builds that I use depending on what i plan on doing. I have a DPS set for solo roaming/ goofing around, a clerics set for when i want to be full support and pump heals and another set im working on for frontline fighting when we run our guild zergs.
When I solo roam I know I will be seeing thieves, mesmers and direct damage crit builds for the most part so i use alot of our anti burst skills, stun breakers, ports/blinks and high damage weapons on a meditation build with mostly zerker gear. This works very well against DD builds but since i dont have very much condi removal the weakness of it is condition builds. I have an 80 Mesmer and a thief, I know their tricks so I do well against them but if I run into a condition necro I don’t bother fighting them because I know that’s my weakness and odds are in favor that I will be the one waypointing. The other two builds require a good group for them to function well, if you are set up for frontline melee fighting and no one gives you any support you will melt and die constantly, if you are set up for support/healing but no one stays near you or in your symbols then you are useless.
Now if all you want to do is run in a Zerg and collect bucket loads of badges then pick up an AH Build, equip a staff and spam your way to through the fight.
It all depends on what you want to do but keep in mind that we aren’t rangers, we don’t have a reliable long range weapon, if that bothers you don’t roll this class.

I guess I can only speak for myself but I don’t imagine I’m the only PvP player that enjoys both WvW and sPvP. sure on the sPvP side you don’t need XP or gold for that matter which is fine if you only intend on playing sPvP from now until the game is shut down but for guys like me who like both I need to atleast have some option of leveling a toon through methods I like, that being both WvW and sPvP because I feel that I really need to be a true 80 in WvW or I am a liability to my group. ok people will say "you get upleveled to 80 and anyone is viable in WvW, and if your group thinks you are a liability you should run with other people, yadda yadda yadda, we all know that is BS. an upleveled 80 is meat for the slaughter against a fully geared true 80.
so now im stuck with either playing the market, jumping on one of my other 80s to run dungeons over and over and over again or farm mats endlessly bored out of my mind to make money so I can craft my way to 80 and learn nothing from the process or grind my way through boring kitten PvE content that ive already seen more than once and would rather pull my hair out than see again. Id much rather spend my time in something I enjoy and learn the class in the process while leveling. not giving us the ability to atleast spend glory on “jugs of XP” or “bags of gold” is leaving me with no way to level my character other than ways that are insanely boring to me and at this point may lead me to another game that gives me this option.
Im primarily a PvP player in MMOs, I enjoy the odd dungeon or raid but my passion is PvP. the biggest reason I still play this game is because I have a blast running with my guild in WvW and would love to get into structured more but right now im leveling a new toon, so that means no structured until I hit 80 which is a bummer because I enjoy the structured PvP in this game and would do it a lot more if I was able to level my toon in it.
I understand the reasons why they have gone this route by completely keeping it separate in hopes of making it an e-sport and making it so you don’t get a bunch of afkers looking to get xp while away from the game but there are other ways to fight that and I think its clear that they missed the bus in regards to the whole E-sport aspect.
so why not make it so you can level toons in structured PvP and gain XP in doing so. If they did that I think you would see a lot more people joining in.
Please A-NET add XP!!!!!!!
Thanks for the responses, i see that there are a few idea on how to get this done. Go AH or not go AH.
right now i have mostly clerics exotics on this toon with some P/V/T weapons and a set of zerker jewels in the bank for PvE easy mode stuff. i might build a knights set over time but for now i think im going to stick with the clerics set and go for the healing build. Shelter and Renewed focus are an obvious choice for me but im still not sure on the weapons or the utilitys.
To be more specific on what im using this build for, i plan on specifically running with my guild group on our larger guild night where i have 15-20 people with me. i plan to have 3-5 melee running closely with me, whether that be warriors, DD ele’s, enginners, or other guardians im not sure but i dont plan to be a lone frontliner and have heavy support from the rest of my group. My squads job will be to distract and confuse the enemy zerg while the Glassy builds chew them up and or supply me with CC, combofields, some heals and some condition removal but i cant solely rely on it. im thinking Save youselves is a no brainer, and probably hold the line but save the 3rd utility for situational use, retreat for traveling, and maybe JI for the gap closer or smite conditon, purity, or puging flames for more condi removal.
looking for a consumable and food for this build aswell, would love to use the boon duration food but dont want the magic find. possibly mango pie.
thanks for the help
Ive reciently returned to playing my guardian, the purpose for me returning is my guild has a lack of frontline fighters in our WvW group.
Im looking for a build that will allow me to fight on the frontlines and not get obliterated, provide some support for the group thats with me, be able to apply some pressure damage wise if possible and uses a Hammer primarily for combo finishing spam.
any WvW vet guardians out there that could give me some advice?
any help would be greatly appreciated.
I dont know what you are talking about its wayyyyyyy better for me. i Ran in a large group last night with around 30 people and i had no trouble seeing “most” of the other zerg we were fighting. I also saw all the small groups we ran over and it seemed like they could see me atleast because i saw 3 people dodge my clones when i sent them to shatter.
I also ran in a small group of 5 running around taking camps and had not problems at all with other groups of 5-10 that we ran into, i even saw the mass of red letters and player models as a zerg of atleast 25 completly run us over. although it didnt really matter if i could see them or not they would still have slaughtered us either way. anyone who is still having trouble i feel for you but please quit proclaiming that “everyone” hates the changes. submit a ticket and try to get it resolved i would hate for it to go back to the way it was.
I agree there is alot they could do with the commander icon and there are a few changes I’d love to see, the first change I would Like to see is a change to the way it’s obtained it should never have been purchasable with gold, second I’d like to see a “status” of icon option like, active to all, active to guild members only and active to party members only I doubt this will happen anytime soon but it would help elevate stress on those who want to lead a small group or just their guild with out kitten off the map commanders or just have different color tags, blue for map commander , red for guild commander, green for small group commander. Third I’d just lime to see all /squad members on the map when you join a commander it should show all the members in the squad on the map like it does when you join a party except the dots would be a different color and still show the character names when you hovered over the dot.
I have a 30 thief that im thinking of leveling, my focus is using him for WvW. i plan to spec him for condition damage but im wondering if im picking the right class. would i be better off going with a necro or ranger for a condi build? i see a metric ton of DD backstab thiefs in WvW and dont want to go that route. so is the thief a good condi class? and if so could you link a good build or vid that explains it.
thanks
I find it funny that BG is the new SoS pet, SBI isnt coming back so you had to find a new one?
I wonder what it costs for SoS to buy your soul.
Its reset day ofcourse there is a que, I’d be worried if there wasn’t. Last Friday was the same, 1-2 hr ques but the fall off drastically after tonight. Most BLs will have little to no que during the week with possibly a short que for EB.
If they give portal to other classes i can finally shelve my mesmer, the only reason i still play him is because my guild doesnt have alot of active mesmers so im on portal duty for WvW or anytime we are doing JPs.
if this goes through i can finally switch to a class that is actually usefull in larger fights, have more than one viable spec and actually be able to hit things on walls without being “obstructed” the only thing i can do during sieges is put down TW and auto attack the door.
The mesmer is an excellent solo/small skirmish class against bads but most skilled players now know how to counter mesmers easily. Our value to a large group (aside from portal) who are defending or taking anything more than a camp is almost nothing, we dont have any decent aoe except zerker which does nothing on walls since we are obstructed by invisible walls and with defense we are just ok, our condition spec is a joke, confusion can absolutly wreck but most co-ordinated groups can easily clense it or turn it against you. rangers, thiefs, necros and almost every class can do it better aswell as removing them. this leaves us with one viable option DD build.
Oh and another reason is we have no reliable swiftness, use focus and get caugh with your pants down if someone jumps you and/ or use a rune set and heal skill that may be on CD if you get jumped or face falling behind runing slow. no thanks.

Id say definetly NO, a Necro is imo one of the best classes and most unknown in WvW right now. My main is a Mesmer but i also play a Guardian, the only class i fear in WvW is a necro.
Well i guess my Guardian doesnt fear the necro because you will kill me, i just dont bother fighting them 1v1 and if i run into one in a battle i target someone else, like a squishy glass build because i dont have the dps to take down the 50k or so HP i will have to chew through to actually down you, but at the same time i know you will have a hard time taking me down because conditions fall off me quickly and i can usually regen the health anyway, usually its just a stalemate that leads to one of us getting help eventually from passer bys.
On my mesmer i dont attack necros either, i run from them or avoid them in battles, mesmers lack condition removal unless we know you are coming, our condition removal is from a trait in a line i dont use and a couple utility skills but there are much better utility skills that i need for survival against burst builds like warriors, thiefs and other mesmers which far out number necros/condi builds right now, also necros have such a huge health pool and usually have a high amount of toughness coupled with condi builds so a burst that will usually kill most classes takes 3x to down a necro by then i have melted from the conditions. i have also noticed that most necros are extremely skilled, i run into bad thiefs, mesmers, warriors, rangers, guardians all the time but rarely do i see a poorly played necro.
infact the reason im here is to try to figure out how to fight you guys.
My Lord, how do even have a chance against a server like SoS that has more numbers than the other 2 combined. Congrats SoS you are “the” Zerg server.
its quite aparent that there is only one T1 server that has coverage, the rest fight to be steamrolled by the zerg and pretend that they are in the same league as SoS. the sad part is that is is destroying any chance WvW has to remain viable.

While i agree that no guardian should ever be sitting in the back doing anything be it healing or dps. I dont agree that we cant go for full heal/support, i think this is kinda what the OP is saying but contradinting himself with the title.
I run a full heal/ support/tanky build that uses mace/shield with a staff as secondary. in WvW i run with a group of 4 other melee classes, mostly warriors, dps guardians, thiefs or anyone that likes to frontline fight. my role is to go in first and absorb the burst while my friends come in a couple seconds later and lay down the hurt on anyone not paying attention. during this phase, i use everything i have to stay alive, most ppl dont even realize im not doing much damage to them and get tunnel visioned on me forgetting about that warrior that is 100 blading them before its too late, i cause confusion and panic but rarely get a kill on my own. i also die alot but i call it a sacrifice since my team mates waste alot more of them, usually someone runs with a revival signet or skill that will pop me back up then i switch to just pumping out heals/buffs to keep them up, i dont sit in the back but by this time everyone generally knows what i am and doesnt see me as a threat so im free to bash them with my mace and throw out heals/buffs at will. i find this setup is a blast for me to run and is very effective at eliminating zergs that even vastly outnumber you especially if it is a pug zerg.
Im only just leveling my engie so I can’t really comment on how viable an engie is but I have a full exotic Mesmer so I can say that the Mesmer is great in solo/small groups, they have great survivability and can rival a thiefs burst, they also have some really good support skills with stealth, portal, null field and time warp but time warp has a huge cool down and portals are great but only useful sometimes and I’m starting to see people learning to counter the portal bombs, once you have used these skills you are stuck auto attacking because phantasms are insta killed in zergs or sieges especially now that they have a 2 second delay. You say phantasms are great against doors but that’s only true if there is nobody defending, asoon as you get defenders phantasms are insta killed, you can throw time warp once then if you cant find some siege to man again you are stuck being a taxi service or spamming auto attack.
Like someone said you should always have a couple mesmers around but they seem to be a dime a dozen these days thats why I’m leveling an engie.
Im not sure what you are going for with your build and im lazy so i didnt read the entire thread but I have recently rolled an engineer just to try it out and i gotta say it is definetly not squishy, i dont see how you die in 2 seconds to a thief or any other class unless you are a sleep, with the shield skills (or rifle knock back+root in your case), elixirs, supply crate and med packs i can hold out on a node almost indefinetly against 1 or even 2 opponents.
id say drop the flamethrower, maybe you like it but i find its not all that great. the damage is nothing to write home about and it doesnt give you that much in the way of survivabilty exept a knock back and 200 toughness which may look good but in reality 200 toughness is just a drop in the bucket not even enough to negate a thiefs single auto-attack. also id replace your rifle with pistol/shield they are far superior for bunker builds. if you couple the shield 4 (3 seconds of blocks + Burns to your foe if you trait it), with elixir S (3 seconds of involnerability), shield 5 (2 second stun), elixir B (10 seconds retaliation), Tool Kit 4 (3 seconds of Blocks), Med kit tool belt skill + med packs and supply crate the thief will simply leave your node in frustration or keep fighting uselessly, this is when i /laugh at them. sure i cant kill anyone but they cant kill me either and thats my job.
Yea Phantasms are totally broken now the only ones that have a small chance at surviving even a single attack are the dualist (which is suffering from a damage nerf) and the warlock which is okay but with the delay there is no way they will get two off. now the only option is to go heavy into a shatter build forcing us into a one build class since condition damage is far inferior to DD,
anyone know when this is going to get patched? will we have to just tough it out or level alts until the 14th?
well then i guess GW2LFG is useless for fractals.
I used GW2LFG.com and got a group together but we couldnt run it because we couldnt get in the same instance and had to disband. how do you do make it work?
none of us could get into a overflow btw
Death in seconds, is that supposed to be “fun”.
Burst damage in this game needs to be cut wayyyyyyyy down. At this point its just Burst wars. there is absolutely no stratagy to it at all just a race for who can burst who.
I just dont see how getting killed before you even know your being attacked is working as intended and if so i guess this isnt for me.
go ahead and flame away but deep down you know something is wrong.
That’s what I was going to try next
And shouldn’t I be getting 20, not 30 if it was determined by account
I’ve been gearing up my second toon by runing dungeons for gear and weapons so I go through and run with my alt Mesmer then switch toons and do them on my main guardian, at the start I could have sworn that I always got 60 tokens for each path per toon per day but today I was only getting 30 for my second run through on a different toon. Is this a bug or working as intended? Are the rewards determined by account or toon?
Thank you Osicat, love this build.
I’m still working on my gear and I’m not as effective as I could be yet but so far this build has been working wonders for me.
One small request though, could you make your vids available for mobile use. Most of my research / YouTube time is spent either on breaks at work or freetime that I cant spend in game and during those times I’m usually on my phone because work has YouTube blocked, it would be much appreciated.
I will probably hit 80 on my mesmer within the week and im debating what build i should use for WvW, Im looking to do damage mainly but also provide the expected utility of portal bombs and some stealth with some degree of escapeability.
The way is see it you can either build your gear towards a condition build or go mostly or full on zerkers glass cannon. the issue im having is that i really dont like the idea of going full Glass cannon because although it might be usefull if you arnt getting hit or want to burst people down rogue style when you are doing seiges or defending you will most likely die before you can do anything but if you mix in too much toughness/vit in the place of crit then you arnt that good at burst and you really arnt that durable anyway. the issue i have with condition builds is that it doesnt have any burst (duh) and fights against 1v1 or 2v1 take alot longer and make YOU suseptable to being burst down, but ofcourse i may be totally wrong about this and need your input.
So my question is what spec is viable in WvW? What do you run? and how do you like it? and do you wish you went with a different spec?
thanks in advance
cheers
The only time I even think about this option is when a large group decides to run me over when im out roaming solo. congrats, you took me out, removed me from the battlefield for about 20 seconds and forced me to go back to spawn. If you beat me one on one or kill me in a battle you deserve what you get from my corpse, going out of your way to Zerg me is another story.
This will get fixed eventually
I’m also from ET, just poped in here to say that yes we are out there but we only have enough of a force to defend our small section of our own BL and yes we do have that small of a population ( probably the lowest in the game). We are always outnumberred atleast 3-1 but we are used to it and getting quite good at attacking much bigger groups, if you wish to fight us it’s not that hard to find us, just come to our BL but be careful if you encounter a “unicorn” we tend to have a big bite. Just ask FA or Yaks.
My appologies to FA and YAKS, we at ET are still in our plummit to the bottom and will be a non factor score wise for a few more weeks. its not that we arnt trying or have given up, we just dont have the numbers, plain and simple.
We have some well organized small guilds and a small zerg that is getting better organized but we dont even have a Primetime presence that can cover all 4 zones, let alone off peek coverage. sometimes we can cause some havoc in a couple BL’s but thats it. Does that mean its not fun? absolutly not, im still having a blast running around with a small organized group setting up ambushes to wipe much larger pug zergs and going behind enemy lines to disrupt supply but we dont have the numbers to make a difference in the score or the outcome of the match, ive even stopped looking at the score, i just do what i can.
Unfortunently not everyone feels the same and the sad fact is that with every blowout we lose more people in both WvW and PvE, i used to think we would settle somewhere in the middle but after the inital loss of people and the subsequent bleeding of quilds that said they would help rebuild and stick it out only to turn around and hightail it days later or just vanish i now know the bottom is our home and to be honest after seeing the scores between the bottom 6 and reading those threads it looks like a blast and i cant wait.
ET is out there, we are just hidden and waiting for our chance to pounce on a week and unsuspecting victim.

Did they take Lodestones and Cores out of the dungeon loot tables? Has anyone gotten any recently? I’ve been running dungeons whenever I get a group and hav’nt even gotten a core in multiple runs of different dungeons. I used to get atleast a core once every third run but now I get nothing but vendor trash from chests, it’s almost not even worth it to loot that big ol inticing chest anymore.
It’s funny how they are doing everything they can to prevent you from getting the things you want, DR on karma and drops to prevent farming, breaking dungeons so you can’t get tokens, Magic find mechanics that are bogus. At this point I would take the standard gear grind over this BS.
Yep, totally frustrating, why did you F this up so bad Anet, it was hard enough getting people to run this now its not worth trying, path one was really easy to speed clear so I can see changes but now you get stuck in a endless loop of silvers even if you keep one alive they still keep coming and if you wipe it’s un passable because the mobs spawn camp you. why didnt you just put a set of mobs at each gate, simple. Now its broken.
After that fail we decided to run path 2, we figured they wouldn’t mess with that one
since it’s usually atleast an hour and a half long and the end boss is fairly challenging but we all enjoyed it prepatch it was challenging but fun But Sure enough we spend an hour and a half getting to the last boss and get destroyed by the bubbles, yea you can dodge them twice and maybe get a few blocks but after that it’s over, if you are not loaded with toughness you get oneshot, if you are loaded with toughness it’s a two shot. Wouldnt be so bad if the mark didn’t spam it.
After wasting 3 hours we gave up. I guess the only ones that arnt f’ed now is AC and TA. Good work Anet, well done.
To top it off non of this is in patch notes.

As the title says, im looking for a guild that is focused on WvW that opperates in the CST or PST time zone, I hate running in mindless zergs so id like to be in a group that is co-ordinated and uses some sort of voice communication (dont care which program), preferably on the ET server but im willing to move if i find a good group.
Im in my 30’s and have grown up resposibilitys but im almost always on sometime between 7:00-8:00pm PST weekdays and a little more on the weekends, due to my age and level of patients id prefer a more mature guild, 18+ would be nice but not entirely a deal breaker if not.
In game i have an 80 Guardian, 22 Mesmer and a 20ish ranger that i can use depending on the group and what is required although i prefer mesmer or ranger over my guard but i will bring him if it is needed.
Cheers
Darn!! This is exacty what im looking for except you are EST and im PST, I wouldnt get on until after scheduled events
