I don’t know what you mean by die faster. In PvE, Dungeons, PVP, WvW? My Thief doesn’t really ever die PvE, and survives very well in dungeons. WvW thief can escape better than most other classes.
In this game, skills determine survivability, not armor type. My 29 Necro gets scaled up to 31k HP in WvW. So yeah, every class can be built to survive just fine (some are harder than others though sure).
So far the only class I haven’t really had fun on was Ranger. x.x All the other classes have had fun weapon sets and unique mechanics.
I’ve played Warrior to 80, Thief to 80, Necro to 28, and the rest to 20. If you’re a min/max type person, then I don’t have a very good answer for you. So far out of all my characters , I’ve found that I like the Necro playstyle/art style the most fun.
Each character I play actually seems to be able to do similar things, in slightly different ways, so what gets me back on a certain character is the flavor that it brings.

You should search the forums meng. You don’t even need to search, just look at the very small amount of topics in this subforum.
This is straight up: CONTROL. You say are ranged weapons suck compared to Warriors? Do THEY have:
Point blank knockback (on the WEAPONSET kick is a UTILITY slot that requires investment), AoE Crippple, Ranged Vulnerability application. On SB we have-Free dodge and gap creator, Cripple, Stun/Daze from ranged.
Not sure if troll. I don’t know much about rangers, but I just had to refute this portion of the post.
Warrior Rifle 5 = point blank knockback Warrior Rifle 4 = Ranged vulnerability Warrior Rifle 2 = Single Target cripple.
Since you are bringing up Ranger Longbow AND Shortbow, then I will also add in Warrior’s 2nd ranged control options.
Warrior Longbow 4 = AOE Blind , Warrior Longbow 5 = Immobilize
That doesn’t even take into account much higher damage, and also the ability to add bleed, and burning damage, and a large fire combo field.
So, I have an 80 warrior and an 80 thief, and I like both of the classes. I have tried many builds for them and have been having fun with all of them. I like leveling up new characters, so for my 3rd character I wanted a class that has great support potential.
I know every class can use a support build to an extent. I want one that really shines in support, mostly for dungeon and wvw, obviously. What I had in mind was Engineer, Elementalist, or Guardian.
I would like opinions on which people prefer to play for support, and as well as people’s experiences grouping with these classes. Of course if you had a good experience with a different class than I mentioned feel free to share.
