The FA people I play with, would never, NEVER, help another server by killing enemy siege attacking their keep/tower/whatever, nor would we help protect it while it upgraded. Are you all honestly justifying this idea? Did you even read what the person said?
That, then, is one of the things FA should look to improve. I doubt it’s the case, however. I’m sure you have some strong, strategic minds over there, because I’ve seen some clever plays. Succeeding at WvW requires knowing when you cut your losses, when to support one of your rivals, or when to strike at them. In this case, preventing FA from taking SM was a sound strategic option to ensure TC remained in a strong position in EB, and to a lesser extent overall in the points ranking
And Vagrant, I was there throughout the SM siege you’re referring to and the subsequent defense. Your claims are pure nonsense.
I wouldn’t have bothered posting it if it wasn’t the truth. You can take a look at the history of my posts, if you care to. I’m very honest about what goes on in EB, even pointing our the flaws of my own server. And like I said, YB didn’t take SM because we just let them – FA and YB outplayed us (FA and the south wall that nobody checks, despite it being used 6 times now ^^, and YB trebbing from the north at the same time). We merely focused on keeping FA out after a time.
Anyone who was on last night with me would have seen that in team chat, and then later on when we ballista’d your trebs and some folks randomly built cats at that same south wall, I asked them to leave the wall alone and follow our icon commander – which is why YB later came out to find 2 ballistas and 2 cats completely abandoned there
. We also had a treb that I asked people to cease using.
SM is nice. It’s not something you need to have and hold, or take back straight away all the time. We wanted YB to have it because we knew FA would focus on it while we went and flipped both servers’ towers. Which is exactly what we did. It’s strategic, and it’s clever, and it worked.

And at the point of the night Yaks has NO coverage so it is just nice to get those extra points no matter what. We couldn’t flip towers at that time if we wanted because we simply do not have the numbers which is why it is insane to think that we are in this Tier at all.

Indeed. I am curious as to how exactly we took that? We had seemingly less people than both servers and yet pushed TC out of the lord room and FA didn’t even bother to fight it out after that. We even split our forces between the keep room doorway and then pursuing FA folks. Also FA, the portal bombs are getting old, and predictable. Find a new trick.
A group of TC’s kept the south group of FA at bay by repairing walls/destroying siege long enough for YB to take SM for about 15-30 minutes, cutting off FA reinforcements.
I don’t know if that was intentional on our leader’s part (that we concede SM to YB rather than FA) or if we really thought we could hold SM altogether.
Also I would like to express my gratitude towards the YB folks who almost took Duros after they took SM
Hahaha. Yeah that was effed up! A small group of like 8 Yaks including myself took down the gate, walked in and 30+ TC walked in right behind us and promptly wiped our small group and took it.

Did you seriously miss all the siege we had in there? First we stopped you guys cold through the water gate while your other zerg was hitting north outer gate. After taking down the first golem rush on outer gate, killing waves on the bridge with ballistas and carts when it eventually fell and destroying your siege on outer walls, we took down 4 omegas and an alpha siege golem on inner plus all the different ram sites. We thwarted at least 9 different trebuchet sites from both towers including storming Jerrifers successfully under heavy defense, and mortared every cata and ballista you put up in the courtyard.
It was a decent amount for being under attack for 4 hours with 0 supply. On the inside we had two catas behind door, mortars, 3 superior ballistas and 2 superior arrow carts on rear wall, 3 superior ballistas in lords room and 2 superior arrow carts, plus a few regular ballistas and carts here and there. We actually didn’t even have enough people to man one ballista in the middle left over. Even if we did have the manpower to man it all, it’s pretty hard to build more than that when the entire map is locked down and supply camps are guarded by groups of 10 or more. We also took Aldon’s and Jerrifers twice each in between waves of attack with a 4 man team and catas. I think we did okay, anyways. I’m always open to new ideas but really that stuff is just basic keep defense.. and we had it covered for hours against the odds, so I’m proud of us.
Was definitely a fun fight Maniac. You guys held your own for a long time and the group that accomplished that should be proud. Props to your defense. It is a shame that your server doesn’t seem be able to compete with our night teams’ population. I guess we will have to see how this unfolds but with Red almost completely out of the fight, I have a feeling this is going to be another boring week where we have everything until a server that has an equal or greater night presence shows up.
I also heard there were some transfers out of ET because of this weekend? Is this true?
For what it is worth, this seems like some of the most fun I have had fighting a server for a while as far as the skill of your players go.
