Hmm…I made this using a lot of the advice from this thread but I’m finding some of the initial contact damage on this build lacking. In a sustained battle I build up might and vulnerability and with Fury on things get nuts. But it just doesn’t have the initial oomph I’d want in the first few seconds of a battle:

It’ll be a bit till I can finish a full ascended set.

Thats because your crit dmg is complete trash. Healing power is such a useless stat on warriors, and exquisite jewels give the best stat-per% crit dmg. Aim for at least 3k armor, 2k power, 35% crit chance, and 70% crit dmg.

Cool. I wanted to get a firmer opinion before I bought the trinkets. Cause I’d seen people toting Healing Power on the trinkets only as a solid option but when I put it together it looked exactly like this: very lackluster.
sigh Sadly now the problem is you can’t get Exotic Cavalier trinkets outside of karma buying.

This is what Tech support told me to do and it worked:
Thank you for contacting Guild Wars 2 Technical Support.

We have determined the problem is an issue connected with the TG Updater on Mavericks OS X and currently are working on a permanent fix for this issue.

In the meantime, the updater can be patched manually by using the steps below:

Check current version # of TG Wrapper by navigating to Applications -> Guild Wars 2 -> Get Info.

If the version is older than 1.0.009524, download TG Update, you can find the latest version here:
http://cider.ncplatform.net/Live/GWII-Update-009524.tgz

After downloading, manually unpack the .TGZ file by double-clicking on it.

Updater now should be unzipped and visible. Double-click updater and you will be prompted to select your output app.

Navigate to where your Guild Wars 2 client is located. The default location is Applications -> Guild Wars 2.

After selecting Guild Wars 2 you may be prompted by your Mac to allow the update to make changes. If so, enter your password and the updater should resume updating. Note: If you are getting a message: “’GWII-Update-009524.app’ can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer," you must allow third-party apps in your System Preferences->Security & Privacy->“Allow apps downloaded from anywhere.”

Once patching has been completed, confirm that TG Wrapper version has updated to Version 1.0.009524 by re-following Step #1.

After the update is completed try launching the game client.

Note: Once you download the patch you’ll have to manually override the running of the patch by right clicking and then clicking open. Cider does not register with Apple as a certified developer and that’s why our patch updates weren’t going through and caused this problem.
Note 2: This also solves the strange issue where GW2 says it’s running the updater every time you open the app.

Is hammer pretty worthless in PVE?

Yeah PvE I never switch from my Greatsword outside of when I’m in a personal story instance with mobs and switch for a Burst or to jam #4 for a clear.
I used to use a Longbow as a secondary but GS has gotten so nuts on my character I ended up not using the Longbow for the entire 70-80 stretch and past PvE so I just ditched it.

Just got my exotic set complete w/Superior Runes of Melandru.
Can you tell that I’m on Tarnished Coast and like to role-play between WvW runs?
Got him all dyed up to look like Erdrick/Loto from Dragon Quest
Going to see if there are any armors or mixes of armors that dye better.
But I’d definitely be keeping the Helmet skin. Knight’s Draconic gear is the closest I’ve found and the helmet is perfect.
Also this forum totally is lying about BBCode working properly. I know how it works and it refuses to do so here.

I’m having exactly the same problem. The gem store is blank, all other tabs including the redeem a code are working fine (mostly). I’m running Mavericks on a 2011 MacBook Pro.

Last time this occurred (a few months back) I logged onto my Windows 7 PC and was able to buy gems. However, that requires me to patch the game which will take all night so I’m not sure yet if that will allow access.

I’m sure this must be a high priority for Anet as we can’t purchase their product until its resolved. I just want to make sure you’re aware it’s still happening.

Exact same specs as your Mac. Same exact problem.

Yeah I posted this elsewhere but this is my view on picking a Warrior build at the moment: " Every warrior build I look at is sacrificing something else that Warrior can do well. Direct Damage, CC, Mobility, Survivability…pick 2, maybe 3 if you’re using a Greatsword and default half decent mobility."

(WvW) What are you having success with?

Do you really need Signet Mastery AND warrior sprint? Mobile Strike is a better option IMO to get out of sticky situations. With Signet Mastery you already have a good uptime on swiftness and your GS movement skills improve on that. All the speed buffs in the world is rather pointless if you get hit with a immob.

What’s immob?

Immobilize.

Apparently, my sarcasm wasn’t thick enough. I have -103% to immob/cripple/chill. Immobs aren’t even a forethought.

Gotta love those Superior Runes of Melandru. Definitely going to look into that build once I can build up the Rune base just because of the extra slot not needing Mobile Strikes gives you.
Why Warrior’s Stance instead of Vigorous Focus? You do have GS 3 to escape with and Bull’s Charge to chase with without needing the extra footspeed. Maybe I’m just a little too fond of dodging into GS 3 to escape sticky situations though.

Is HS really all that's keeping War afloat?

Because healing signet over 31 seconds (CD and Cast time of Healing Surge) restores 2300 hp over Healing Surge. Then on top of that, you don’t have to worry about getting your heal interrupted. Healing Surge is better for taking spikes of damage where you go from 100 down to 20 then will take another 50 within the near future. Healing Signet is honestly a crutch, the regen is so blatantly overpowered that it outheals other classes entirely where classes which have natural HoT are punished by their low HP pools.

That’s a problem by people playing sustained damage builds. HS is a counter to that – a bursty build will render HS useless.

Blame the meta, not the skill.

But at the same time, Warriors have two very potent Anti Burst skills Shield 5 and Endure Pain. Warriors are not unstoppable as people complaining about them say that they are, but they are the masters of inaction. They get such a huge net passive power that it feels overbearing for people to face.

Of course! how could I forget the good old 30/30/30/30/30 build with more than 2 weapon sets? Silly me.

Don’t forget the 12 skill slots to run Endure Pain, Berserker Stance, Balanced Stance, Dolyak Signet, and Battle Standard along with Signet of Rage

I’d never argue that the Warrior isn’t ridiculously versatile with so many different possible builds I’m often at a loss as to what to roll out. Especially since I was previously running GS/Hammer and now the Hammer part of that needs replacing. But saying that the Warrior can put all the awesome things about it into one build is a bit disingenuous. If I want survivability I run the risk of people escaping without the initial burst of damage off of Unsuspecting Foe Backbreaker/Hundred Blades post Earthshaker. I’ve been working on Bladetrail → Savage Leap →Final Thrust/Dual Strike (if I want to risk ditching the survivability of Shield) but that can be dicey if I’m not getting enough Condition Damage in, which means sacrificing big damage. Every warrior build I look at is sacrificing something else that Warrior can do well. Direct Damage, CD, Mobility, Survivability…pick 2, maybe 3 if you’re using a Greatsword and default half decent mobility.
