Dreader the Seventh you must have read my mind and saved me the trouble of posting my thoughts. Some of us like playing games but don’t want to play in groups, don’t want to use TeamSpeak and don’t have the mouse and keyboard dexterity to be competitive. I’ve tried dungeons and fractals and my skill level makes me a liability and only the most patient (and there are some) of people would put up with me and take the time to explain and teach. So I avoid those things.
I love the game and have supported it since Guild Wars 1 by buying every expansion and I didn’t even think twice about this one. But other than the Revenant, there isn’t much here for me.
I’ll play with the Revenant a bit, but I can’t imagine ever getting into the group play so that will end my run. Still many enjoyable hours spent and I’ll constantly keep telling everyone I know that this is worth every penny. It’s just not a game for someone like me.

As the title says let’s say I’m a 40+ player. (40+ sounds better than the truth). I have 8 character (1 of everything), no real main character. My goal is to play them all to 80. Highest is 50 something, some 30’s, 20’s …
I played Everquest back in the days where Evercrack nearly ruined my life so I’ll never get back into raids that keep me up until 2:00am on a workday.
I have a resonable grasp of tactics and strategy. Can’t say my hand eye coordination is up to pro-standards, but I am learning to move and dodge. I at least understand the need for it.
I pretty much just do PvE. Well okay, I’ve only done PvE. Someday I could see doing some WvW here and there but I’d never make it the only thing I did and other than times stated below, I could easily start and then bow out. I’m the kind of person who will run across the map or fight through a horde to keep a dead player from having to pay to get rezzed at a waypoint. I’ll probably never get a legendary, but I’d be more than happy to help others gather what they need if I can.
My biggest personal need will be Story Mode dungeons. I’d much rather do them with people I’ve played with. I’m also the kind of player that would gladly help other guild members do story mode dungeons once I had a clue.
Some catches are that the only times I could be counted on for uninterrupted time would be Saturday and Sundat mornings (EST), or sometimes late Friday or Saturday evenings (althoug I much prefer mornings).
And I’ll never use any kind of voice chat. My wife would pull the plug on me in a heartbeat if I started that I understand that for many guilds it’s mandatory and I also understand how much easier it is to coordinate things, but it ain’t gonna happen.
So is there a place for a friendly old-timer?
Maybe this has been asked and probably answered so flame away if it has, I can take it.
Although I played way back in Everquest in a guild as the lone Enchanter trying to keep control of bad situations, I got burnt out on raids and such. Ever since, I’ve played WOW and now this completely solo with the goal of playing every class to it’s top level, coming and going as I please or as my wife pleases some days
So I hear all about WvW and understand the basics and all that. So here are my questions:
Is it something a lone player can really jump in and explore and have some fun like dynamic events or does it really have to be much more coordinated like a raid?

I’m with Kodo. Have zero interest in PvP. I love to play solo, get on, get off (when wife needs me), play every class … I just wish I had henchmen like GW1 so I could do dungeons alone
Ranger sounds like it might be the easiest but I’ll give the thief a shot as well. The goal is to get every class to 80 eventually, but learning to move with the keyboard along with the skills of the class are pushing my old dexterity to it’s limit. This is why I don’t play console games anymore.
Some of us are not as nimble as others and as we get older, it only gets worse so my question is is there a class that doesn’t have to move as much to be reasonably effective in combat? I almost exclusively play PVE.
For example in GW1, I played every class, but my favorite was the Ritualist because I could summon a pile of spirits and hang around behind them as they nuked things.
I’m currently primarily playing an Elementalist right now and the finger contortions are taxing my dexterity
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
