I absolutely love and enjoy the necro class (not oblivious to its needed improvements) but here is my evil looking necro…if only I could give him a dark cloudy aura.

I’m playing around w/ a hybrid build using scepter/dagger and axe/focus. It’s a good mix of the both. If I use consumables that strengthen condition damage along with sigil that does the same I can get bleed to tick around 140-150. My feast of corruption can crit around 3k. and scepter crits are around 8-1k dmg.

I am surprised, and almost shocked to see that you can hit for 3-5k with feast of corruption using rampagers gear. Zerker gear I could see that, but rampagers?

I can see around 1200-1300 best case in a rabid build with feast, and they have to be slathered in conditions. If rampagers is making that big a difference, then I need to go get some and try it out again.

I would be curious what your buffs were and the mob debuffs were when you hit those numbers, as they are all very high on the sceptor skills

Well I’m using berserker trinkets except back piece and I have 10 points in soul reaping line. 3-5k is totally dependent upon conditions on mob and if i have might or not. I can only assume it benefits from vulnerability as well. Either way, I really like the mix of smaller burst and dots… that I don’t feel so pigeon holed. I like to swap between using dagger and axe mainhand depending on fights as well.

Wow, so the build is actually viable in high level fractals. Like destijl, I have played conditionmancer, powermancer, juggermancer, abomination, you name it. I haven’t gotten too high in fractals I simply farm lvl 10, however, I’ve done it using glass and more durable builds and in the end your survivability definitely is equally dependent on the players skills and knowledge of fights and enemy animations etc. Deathenshada thanks for post the link to the build, I feel more than other classes that the Necromancer class doesn’t benefit as much by focusing on pure power or conditions, but combining the strengths between the two works rather well and it is a playstyle that offers much in variety.

Like most of us who play Necro as our main we have tested a lot of builds to try to find which best suits our playstyles and to find the strengths of weaknesses of our favorite profession.

Lately I’ve been playing around with Hybrid build 30/30/0/0/10, I use scepter/dagger (rampager) and dagger/warhorn or axe/focus (berzerker) and trinkets are all berserker.

I decided to try this style of gameplay out b/c I disliked lacking power in the instances that condition dmg falters i.e. too many bleeds, objects, etc.

I have attached screen shots of my dagger dmg if you don’t include the sigil of fire proc the particular screen shot shows 9887 for the entire chain critting or 11652 total dmg including the flame blast.

You will see that when scepter crits it’s close to 1000 dmg for the first two hits in the chain and the 3rd hit around 1100. Feast of Corruption I’ve gotten results from 3000 to 5600 dmg. I’m mentioning the crit dmg because I feel that it makes up for not being pure condition damage build.

My dots usually tick from 100 to115 depending on which food I use and if i have full 25 stack from sigil of corruption. I use krait and afflicted rune on my armor and my back piece is the tome of rubicon, so at base when i switch to my scepter/dagger I have 925 cond dmg. As soon as I drop all my bleeds including blood is power i switch into melee, i get some big hits maneuver accordingly, pop into DS get a few life blasts in for might stacks as i back out and switch back into scepter and rinse and repeat. However, what I like most is that even with scepter in hand, I don’t hit like a limp noodle and feast of corruption actually has respectable damage.

I have a few screen shots attached of my stats and combat logs. I really enjoy this class, even tho early on the forums were so chock full of negative posts I rolled every class to 80 except eng/ranger, but in the end my necro is my main. If anyone has any feedback or success with this playstyle, I’d like to know what other people think of it.

Power Melee/Condition Hybrid Build

I have to start by saying I really love playing the Necro Profession. I was one of the many that after reading these forums rerolled a warrior or some other class, however, I kept coming back and I find the necro (for pve purposes quite effective and on par). I decided to try the following build.

I’m using Norgu’s gear which is basically rampager’s stats. My scepter and dagger is Rampager statted and my Dagger/Warhorn is berserker statted. I’m not sure on which way I’m going to rune my gear, I am considering using 2 of Hoelbrak, Fire, and Strength for the 60% increased might duration. Any suggestions are welcomed. My trinkets are all Berserker stat items, I may switch this out for Rampager’s but I’m trying to keep my Crit+dmg at a fair level, my crit rate is 59% and crit dmg is 53%. Attack 3048 is and my total condition stat is only 300, however, take note that I buff condition damage through might as well.

At level 80, once I cast Blood is Power and cycle through Deathly Swarm (xfer bleed) Enfeebling Blood, and Grasping dead, along w/ any bleeds from Sigil of Earth, Feast of corruption and possible one more grasping dead before I switch to Dagger/Warhorn. My bleeds will tick around 119 per tick. On switch i gain 3 stacks of might, I would like to use Sigil of Strength on warhorn for might stacks, but it’s a little pricey, but paired w/ locust swarm I can see a lot of might stacks proccing. . I jump into Death shroud and spam LifeBlast for additional might stats and i can usually get close to 4k crits back to back thanks to fury proccing upon entering deathshroud. As my might stacks ramp up so does my dmg. I have attached two screen shots to show dagger dmg and life blast damage. If the entire chain of dagger attack 1 crit, I can get anywhere from 8-9k damage. Of course once the enemy’s health drops below 50% the 20% damage increase from Close to Death adds greatly as well as 2% additional damage for condition of foe from Target the weak.

I’m able to provide consistent aoe condition damage and respectable single target damage. It’s the build I enjoy most as it feels like I’m getting the best of both worlds. I’ve played pure condition and power builds and I felt very one dimensional, I truly enjoy the freedom of this build and the amount of damage it puts out. Seeing massive bleeds tick away while I’m doing 8-9k dmg w/ my dagger is just beautiful.

Well fellow necro’s I’d love your input. It’s quite possible this build has been discussed before…if it has or hasn’t a build this sweet deserves an awesome name.

Yes sadly minion builds suck kitten I rolled a ranger and was like WTF why can’t minions work like this…. but rangers have plenty of other issues from what I’ve read on their forums…I thought I was on necro forums either way I love my necro and every class takes experimentation and you’ll eventually find the build that best suits you. Right now I’m working on building my juggermancer set. Fun times ahead!

At first I fell for the negative talk and after trying several builds and gathering different sets, I went and rolled a warrior. Now the warrior class can provide more group buffs on demand, however is wouldn’t discount necro DPS or group utility. I went back to playing my necro as my main. If I go glass cannon power build I have more survivability and I can do significant DMG. I’m specced for long duration might/stacking through weapon swaps and life blast. I pop power blood before I go into deathshroud gain fury and crit life blast 4-5k back to back…OK so my warrior spams and waits for hundred blades. In the meantime my 3 blasts did equal damage and if played smartly and positioned well I can hit 3 or 4 targets at once due to piercing. I’m at range and safe. My dagger #1 does anywhere from 5-6k DMG if they all crit and pop useful wells while I’m in melee.

All in all warrior can do things a little easier, I feel necro takes more skill and understanding to play. And I enjoy all specs it has to offer. Every profession forum seems to have people kittening about something some concerns are legitimate while others are just following the crowd. I’m having fun with my necro and he’s a beast ….however I wold like more ways to group buff I.e fury,might,etc..
