If I remember right it was up high somewhere, I took a helicopter up and saw one. All I could think was, “I wish I brought my ranger.” Maybe in the west side of the first zone.
I wish I had marked it better… Hope it helps.
- As with everything, this is a voluntary activity. Nothing requires a player to do this. No one “needs” one of these tonics to play. But if they want one, they now have a means to get it.
I think this is highlights the frustration many have with RNG. Many players WANT these things, and appreciate having a way to TRY to get it, but it is by no means guaranteed. They WANT an item and spend a lot of time trying to get it only to come up empty.
Unfortunately RNG seems to be the only way to create scarcity… In an effort to make some items special and valuable, items have to be placed behind either a time gate, a RNG gate or both. If they are not, then EVERYONE would get one.
But in the end, there will be some people who will try their hardest to get a treasured transformation potion, and won’t be able to, because they happened to have bad luck. (Others will get multiple items.) This leads to some VERY disappointed players, but does suit the purpose of the game designers to limit the number of items. But I can’t help think that there must be some way to obtain both outcomes so that those who don’t want an item don’t have to pursue it, but those who do have a way that they CAN obtain it, not just obtaining a CHANCE to get it.
End of season: We attack Mordy, and fail. Plants start attacking most places and we have to find new allies. Maybe a cinematic where most major cities are destroyed by plants? Asurans activate a time reversal/time stoppage device that sets time to just before the failed attack. We decide we need new allies… Cantha opens! New expansion ending with us getting all new allies and we work together with the old pact to attack Mordy and win!
Basically, wishful thinking on my part… but it would still be cool!
So my take on things…
In Glints lair Majory and Jory were talking about Logan abandoning Destiny’s edge, and how it seemed… not normal. Glint had mind control properties, and it made me think, after the conversation, that maybe Glint was influencing Logan. As Glint is somewhat prophetic, maybe she saw something in the future, and put in a plan. Minds had triggers put in place, and when they activate, people do strange things. The Master of Peace runs into the desert… the Aspect Masters follow him… Logan betrays his guild… Caithe betrays us… I don’t know. At first I thought that maybe Canach was made to look like Caithe by Anise… Maybe Canach was there because Anise knew something was “embedded” in Caithe… but now… it seems like Caithe is being manipulated, much like Logan. Anyway, just my $0.02.
I haven’t read everything but I’ll give my two cents. I’ve benefited from RNG luck a few times. It’s nice to get a cool/expensive drop when you don’t expect it! But in the same measure I’ve tried to get items on purpose that are behind the RNG wall, and never succeeded. When that happens, I get aggravated and think, “Who designed this game anyway!” You begin to think that you’ll never get what you are working for, and you might not. It would be nice if there was some way to work for items so you could get it if you wanted it, a guaranteed drop or something like that. To keep items more unique, you could limit them to only one per account guaranteed. Rarity is nice, and RNG helps produce rarity, but feeling like all your efforts are useless makes you want to give up. Kind of why I don’t want to build a legendary, to reliant on RNG, no guarantees. I’d rather have some way of earning special items.
I enjoyed it. Finally got map completion and played more WvW in the past 4 weeks than I ever had before. I don’t have lots of time to play GW2 these days, but the time I had the past few weeks was spent fighting for my world.
It did seem that the disparity between servers was fairly vast. Open world fights that could go one way or the other? Fun. Getting annihilated by a vastly superior force (numbers skill whatever) not so much fun. Rewarding? I thought so, even finishing 3rd. Will I do more WvW, most likely. A good commander makes a big difference .
You could reduce the length of matches, or have regular map resets of some kind. You could find a way to make it fun to still play even if you are vastly outnumbered, vastly outnumber your foe, or if both sides have very small numbers present. (Those are the times that are not so much fun.) For example, if you are vastly outnumbered a Dragon event starts, and attacks the superior force/forces. Instead of nearly unstoppable champions, players take that role. The superior force gets big rewards for stopping the dragon, the smaller guys have fun being able to stomp massive numbers of the enemy for a short period of time. (plus all the loot bags). Maybe with mostly empty maps, NPC armies are generated that start attacking each other. (Soldiers disappear as people come to take their place.)
I don’t think you will ever see server balance unless the competition becomes to balance servers. Because in a competition you want to have the best team, and not all players are created equal. The good will clump together and become great, while the so-so will get stomped.
Shorter timed fights could help. For example, a over the weekend tourney. Or rankings based on time of day. (3 eight hour divisions, or 2 twelve hour divisions, or 4 six hour divisions, you get the point.) That way one server can rule the “day” while another can rule the “night.” Maybe your low pop server is really good in one section and gets to tier 3, while normally you are around tier 8. That would confuse fights, but it could help match things up better.
I’ll put in my 2c. I like the idea of exhaustion, especially if it recharges with more people around.
But for wvw tourneys, maybe you should have Refs that can disable the ability to use or build siege, or kick players for the duration of the tourney for greifing or hacking. honestly, I don’t think you can come up with a metric to slow down grifers without hurting normal players. That is what refs are for in sport. People don’t like playing organized sports or pick-up games if there are grifers or cheaters that get away with it. Either they police themselves, get Refs, or play somewhere else. In a dungeon you can leave your party. In wvw… you get the idea. Imagine playing basketball with someone thought it was funny to deflate the basketball. What would you do? In wvw, what can we do? That is why refs are needed in wvw over basketballs that are harder to deflate.
I think that there is a strong link between the Sylvari and the dragons. They are great foes, and can become allies. Though it seems that Sylvari that embrace the dragon, or the power that they represent/embody go crazy. So it is probably a big plot point. I’m sure there will be other villains this season but it seems this new guy is more a plot point than a season villain. The true villain/story arc probably won’t be revealed for a while, just like season 1.
So I figure that Scarlet is going to take the magic (convergence of ley lines) and become the next elder dragon herself. I figure that the Sylvari are immune to becoming dragon minions because they have a piece of the dragon inside of them. It was repressed by the white tree, but Scarlet woke it up. She is probably trying to destroy it but will end up waking it up/releasing it. I figure the voice/entity she found using Omadd’s device is the dragon or an evil entity for season 2. But as the only things in the device that she could see were what she took in there… she has herself, the pale tree and the dragon/other evil entity.
And the dragon seems to be a part of the dream. The pale tree saying that it was a symbol of Zitan? Maybe she would lie/conceal the truth. Sure, grow up and be good! Even though you came from an elder dragon. Maybe that is why once they go bad they stay bad. Other races can redeem themselves, but the Sylvari seem incapable.
Just my ideas. But I do think Scarlet is trying to destroy something that she saw, that may be in every Sylvari, and that she will wake it up/empower it instead.
For me it was the western balloon tower, I got to the top and it had already been opened. I’ve done 18 or 19 so far and it has been the only one that was already opened for me. So far. It was the second balloon I tried. Kaineng server, yesterday or late the night before. Right after the Escort Dignitary mission. The centaurs were attacking the near by outpost at the time. I think I was the first one up the tower at the time.
There was an interesting article on Gamasutra, and I wondered what you all thought of it:
http://www.gamasutra.com/blogs/RaminShokrizade/20130426/191346/Guild_Wars_2_Economy_Review.php
Do you think his take on the state of the economy in GW2 is accurate?
What is the definition of “viable?” In PvP it seems to mean, “Could you win a fight?” But what does it mean for PvE? Is it merely a comparison with other classes?
I leveled up to 80 and completed story mode using a rifle, the healing elixir, the elixir that grants might and speed (forgot the elixirs names, sorry), a rifle turret, a rocket turret, and supply drop. So in PvE it is definitely viable. (I soloed a lot of the content, and had fun doing it.) Now I use grenades and a flame thrower with a pistol and shield (and the condition removing elixir), and have a lot of fun as well.
I did both solo with a Lvl. 80 Engineer
Thanks for fixing the bug!
I did the most of the big event on Sunday, and helped kill lots of enemies. I ended up with one clam as far as loot goes… I did get some cool items from the reward chest, but was surprised to kill many enemies with NO loot. But I did have fun, and people were all very helpful about resing, so I didn’t have any armor bills, so it wasn’t all bad.
Well, I have a guild that is made up of me, my brother and his wife. It’s very much casual, but if you and your friends want to join up, it would be fun getting to know new people! (We are fairly busy too.)
