Exactly, my problem its not about the meta, i use often the meta to guide myself trough custom build tweaks, what im afraid of is to be forced to pay to compete, and to be forced into a build i dont like just because its a suicide to try a pre expansion one. Like for example when hot came out, i was happy with my pre hot build, but suddenly new xpansion came out, some more dodges, new evasion skills and boom, be daredevil or be dead. thats not fun at all. Same happened with mesmer, try a sword torch roaming build with no f5 to use dual ultimate for stealth, or shield for that massive stun, it sucks, and what you get? a tiny lil bit more of dmg that is worthless cus your dead before landing first burst, or running cus ur stealth is over.

wvw!!!! how come there are no substantial changes in wvw more than some new rewards? where is our new wvw map for example
If you repeat the formula you used for hot, making new specs too op so the whole meta changes, you’re gonna loose almost half of your player base, it was enough to pay once so one could play with even builds but if we are forced to buy every single expansion, so we can have a fighting chance against new builds, im out, and i know im not the only one. Remember what made this game great! we love custom builds, variation, surprise factor behind every fight depending on each build a player can choose. If this game becomes a “play meta or stop playing” the second choice will become really appealing, who wants to be forced to play a build he doesn’t like just to have a fighting chance? Please devs we love this game, be smart and start listening to your playerbase.
Side note: I don’t have any kind of problem with having a meta, what i hate is a new meta every expansion, and to be forced to pay so i can play the meta cus if im not in im dead, look at pre hot builds on metabattle right now, theres only 1 for each class and its really underpowered, thas what im afraid its gonna happen with this new one, to me, in a game with open world combat, variation is the key to success.

Also last edit i promise, one important issue i forgot to adress directly, some clan mates told me that i should check my build and maybe switch to more condi cleanse variables, the problem there? if im a condi mesmer, using the condi cleanse per shatter build, and i use my shatters to cleanse in mid fight, how do i kill my opponent? or what about if i try with wells/mantras, where im gonna put my utiltys?
Or what about a thief, i use cleanse on evasion, shadow arts and signet of agility, if my foe stop attacking after stacks are in, traited cleanse on evasion goes to the trash, if i use my signet to cleanse i lose extra evasion, if i use it for extra evasion i lose cleansing (IT HAS 40 SECONDS OF COOLDOWN) so im stuck with getting stealth up quickly to cleanse with shadow arts, now, when can i use my interumpt? (aka dp 4), or gap closer? (aka dp 3) or anything else besides backstab (dp 1 while in stealth) if my initative is spent on getting stealth up quickly and often enough to cleanse?.
And thats my point, cleansing is worthless because cleansing skills are important skills with big cooldowns and almost every cleansing skills has a more critical job to do than cleansing, beeing this a secondary advantage for them. (at least for the most classes i know and play since a long time already, feel free to share your class disadvantages, buffs or thoughts on the matter)but now that cleansing is essential it’s like devs forgot that those cleansing skills are also essential for other things than sustain.
Thanks a lot anet, now thanks to the new condi buff every idiot that you come across thinks he’s playing good, just by spamming evasion, droping traps marks, and keeping at distance during.. 5, 6 seconds until you die with no option of surviving unless you’re with friends.
My question? why you felt we needed more condi damage with out even adding more cleansing..?
So i know haters speech “then go play a condi build”, but why fighting “condi with condi” sucks??.. Simple! it works like vanilla wow, with downed state, just walk through droping traps, spaming evades, watching ur life bar, and only stop moving to pick up bags, but if your opponent is running condi and he managed to avoid your’s and apply some stacks to you, both are on the ground in just seconds praying of an ally to come by and res or who can land more hits until one dies..
Now, do you remember what made this game great? it was blocks, rolls, 3 second stuns, 3 seconds stealth, pushes, dazes, SKILLS, simple skills timing and reflexes, with heavy combos but rewarding combos. And how does condi interact with this? it doesn’t, you can only block some condi skills(only projectiles),while most are aoe or application like venoms, cant evade condi because stacks are already there, and now that you die in 6 seconds needing to cleanse at least twice in a fight you cant cus theres not enough cleansing.
So whats my point? Before adding more condition damage, add different mechanics that let players counter condition in any way besides cleansing, if you can’t do that, add more cleansing, but stop generating random 2 skills + evade spam builds that apply condi while never having to risk their life(cough.. dd thief cough..), its ridiculous, because power builds are left behind, and you can’t push power users to use condi because of what i said before.
We love tough combos and quick reactions, we love blocking and counter attacking, reflecting projectiles, but we all dislike condi builds that rely on 2 skills or the same skill spammed over 5 minutes, the only players that could enjoy that are players who never got good with any power build so they have this need to kill players anyway possible.
If you insist on making easy builds for new players to enjoy the game, give the old builds, the hard to master, something to keep up, but if you’re idea of having fun is to run around spamming 2 keys plus evasion, give yourself 2 years and you will have a playerbase like league of legends, full of kids who only care about OP BS and never tried to learn or to get better at something. Meanwhile all the interesting, veterans, or skilled players who like a challenge playing dark souls.. black desert.. freaking mmofps.
Now to sum it all up, some ppl might disagree with my experience, but i just ask for respect, you may like your mediocrity to be rewarded, but i myself, and a lot of players who already know this game for a long time are missing the times when you have to be good at playing to kill your foes and not having the op build of the moment or knowing how to kite endlessly while droping condi aoe.
I hope you can read this and use a player’s point of view on the matter, and i really hope you can change some of this things, what i mostly wanted to express is that “you need to make gw2 great again by its foundation, its roots, the blocking the dodging the cold mind and quick combos” stop the counter build BS league of legends started and keep pushing it to skill caps and not broken stats or 2 buttons combo. (why i insist on 2 keys builds? imagine ur a berserker warrior and you want to land a 10k combo, so it goes like this, headbutt, f2, f1, shield 4, idk axe maybe 2 and 3, change to greatsword, 5, 3 and maybe if ur opponent is a bit slow hes already down, now imagine you’re a condi warrior, take out longbow, use 2 use 3 use headbutt use ,maybe if needed, shield 4 and watch how your enemy falls to the ground beeing burn as f*** and claiming for forgiveness)
