Than you have absolutely no idea how this game works.

perhaps I should’ve started like this:

Let me explain a few things. Please, be noted that my reply is not meant as an offense, not even as an attack, but as a pure will to teach new players who do not play for so long.

pve is easy right? you don’t need the best build, play what you like, it’s still easy don’t let the need to be meta take away from the fun in diversity

I used to like my trapper ranger but felt I did a lot more damage when I changed to zerk but after the patch I tried a sinister trapper build and think its great fun

honestly they’re useless now

I was in the Iron Marches trying to do events for the dailies and so was everyone else, I could barely tag a mob and skated through on bronze. Instead of my normal 10 fps at Maw I was getting 4 because the map was full, at least it was over quicker.

I was farming for Empyreal Fragments there and managed a few stacks in a few days, pve needed something like this, theres just no quick way to get them, it would take about 100 jumping puzzles or chests just to get 1 stack (2-3 per)

leebe.2093

theres a windows setting called Sticky Keys in: All Control Panel Items\Ease of Access Center\Make the keyboard easier to use
or you can press shift 5 times (which you might do in game)

It basically locks the keys ‘on’ without having to press them (shift, ctrl, alt and windows key)

you should switch sticky keys off

whatever you get I’d recommend getting a laptop cooler, mine was only £20 and lowers full load temps by 20 degrees (http://www.quietpc.com/zm-nc3000)

Build: Power P/P (I notice a lack of this here) :p
Rune: Pack
Why: +175 Power +125 Precision +30% Swiftness

Build: Power D/D
Rune: Pack runes
Why: The fury might swiftness is nice, the swiftness duration synergizes with my food (gain swiftness on killing a foe) so I gain longer swiftness after killing a foe which is good in outnumbered fights and for roaming. They’re relatively cheap and good for a thief for basically any power build imo.

have you tried using Assassin’s Retreat? I was stacking 3+mins a lot of the time when I used it

failing an event is not an exploit

Failing an event because of being unprepared or poor play isn’t an exploit, BUT, purposely failing an event to reap the benefits(drops) OVER AND OVER AND OVER IS.

the benefits (drops) are the same per event whether it fails or not and doing an event over and over is definitely not an exploit, thats why we have DR

Farming in Orr

leebe.2093

It’s an exploit. You’re purposely letting the event fail so that endless waves of risen swarm you that drop loot. You can try to justify it all that you want but it’s still wrong.

the event itself spawns the mobs, when it fails there are no mobs, failing does not spawn mobs, you have to start the event again from the begining

the only difference between failing or not is time, the event starts again sooner if it fails

Farming in Orr

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

leebe.2093

I would think the question here is, did ANet make events, any events, with the intention that players would purposely fail them in order to have endlessly spawning mobs to farm?

failing the event doesnt cause endless mobs to spawn, the event itself causes a lot of mobs, when it fails its over, no more mobs

I would say the answer is no. That they intended players to make every effort to succeed and that events would fail in spite of their efforts. In that case, if players are doing something that ANet did not intend when they made these events, if they are doing so in order to farm in excess of what was intended, then it’s an exploit and players doing so may be suspended or banned or the event changed to stop this farming.

so are you saying its an exploit because ANet doesnt want people to fail events? and if they do they are exploiting it? or are you against farming in general? did ANet intend people to farm? how can people farm in excess of what was intended? surely ANet controls the loot and DR

bottom line is this event is supposed to finish in one of two ways and it does, there is no exploit, players take the event to its predetermined conclusion, again and again

Purposely Failing Events

There was a thread on this but I cannot locate it.

Is this considered an exploit if you purposely fail an event to get champs?

Judging by how quickly that thread was removed- I would imagine that they do consider that particular ‘creative game-play’ to be an exploit.

its still here

how is that harming the game? so a few people get stacks of bloodstone dust and some Masterwork fodder, I can’t see how that impacts on your game

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dynamic_Event#Anti-griefing_design

It creates player conflict.
Case in point, I was doing map completion in Cursed Shore (after not being in the map for about 6 weeks) and it seemed like a good opportunity to tag the Shelter’s Gate WP and POI when there was a zerg of players running through Penitent Path with the event chain.
Blix makes it through the tunnel; cue capture event. I run over the WP and POI, and then promptly get splattered by 4 elites, because the zerg doesn’t want to walk into the capture circle. No points for guessing why they didn’t revive me.

Aside from players in the zerg being foul mouthed and angry to anyone unaware of how they’re trying to screw the system, this is not how the game should be working as it’s now putting different players’ interests at odds with each other.

Well I don’t think it creates player conflict though it does present an opportunity for one.

But if you had waited a few minutes for the capture event to finish you could’ve got the wp and poi safely without any player conflict and then left with a few extra champ bags.
