I would love a trait in the nature magic tree or in the wilderness survival tree that allowed me to bleed with the shortbow from any direction.
Please please please give the shortbow some attention.
Honestly I would be happy if you just removed the flanking requirement for the bleed, it would at least be something….

Hey mates, I’ve got some good ideas to fairly improve the shortbow.
2 – Changes to, fire an arrow at your foe that explodes on impacting, poisoning (6’s) and blinding (6’s) nearby foes. Recharge increased to 10’s.
4 – Changes to, fire an arrow that immobilizes your target (2’s). Your pet’s next three attacks inflict bleeding.
5 – Changes to, fire an arrow that dazes (1’s) and confuses (3 stacks, 5’s) your foe. Recharge reduced to 20’s. No longer stuns.
That’s it mates. These are simple but I think they’re pretty good and could definitively improve viability.
^^ this guy hit the nail on the head. Keep the poison on the two skill give it an added aoe blind for utility. The cripple on the 4 skill is way too weak. An immobilize would be fantastic! The five skill adding another condition like confusion would justify it’s 20/25 second cooldown.

Yes yes yes to everything. The shortbow needs some love. Especially with the buffs to the longbow. After the range and quickness nerf the shortbow lacks in many areas. The addition of immobilize and blind would make it much much better.
This would help combat the multitude of gap closers available to other classes.
Fingers crossed an Anet employee reads this.

If I had to guess based on what I saw in the video it was 0-0-20-30-20. Basically he was a shout/tank beastmaster build. He didn’t use conditions and his healing power was very high.
He had to have at least 15 into wilderness survival due to the protection on dodge roll.
I got crit by a warriors kill shot for 14k of my 17k hp yesterday. Nothing to see here (,- -),

I tested it and it is incorrect bleeding is not removed!
Nothing on fixing the mainhand axe animation or the root from the sword one…
If you are referring to the fact that it causes our back item to blink on and off they said they are going to fix back items disappearing when our handheld weapons are supposed to look like they left our hands aka when you “throw” your axe.
Really? I missed that part. I’m concerned about the offhand weapon disappearing too. I’m days from completing rodgort.

I know it’s old but I’m just making sure it’s being fixed, or at least looked at. When you use the mainhand axe your back and offhand weapon dissapear as he throws. This is especially frustrating if you have a legendary offhand and it’s constantly dissapearing. I know it doesn’t affect the gameplay but it’s still a problem.

I support this tenfold! It would completely change some of the ranger dynamic and make more builds viable. My only concern is that with the fury and swiftness on weapon swap this might be a bit overpowered.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. If you want a melee axe go roll a warrior. All the QQing about not being the best ranged class in the game and you want to ruin our only ranged mh weapon. I shake my head sometimes.
Mh axe is not a bad weapon at all. It just needs a little tweak to make it more viable in both condi and power builds, an example would be adding a random condition to the ricochet or increasing the power. I run it with a hybrid rampager build and it works fantastic. Conditions are not wasted and the crit percentage is fairly good. The dagger works beautifully to set up split blade. With the chill and the cripple it makes up for the pet’s AI. A slower target makes it easier for your pet to hit.

The auto doesn’t need more bounces. It needs to apply a condition. I’d be happy with it applying torment or even any condition for that matter.
I also agree that splitblade needs an attack speed boost.

Question: Why are people using torch with axe?
With the massive amounts of condi removal available it’s about doing damage. The poison and bleed from the dagger are great if they stay the whole time but odds are they will be cleansed. Burning provides greater damage over a shorter period of time.
I agree I tried to run the more defensive axe/dagger combo but you flat out cannot beat the damage provided by the torch. Not to mention the bonfire is a great way to punish anyone who gets too close to you.
No, no no no no. This is the “ranged” class if you want a melee axe or access to melee weapons go roll a warrior or something else. I love the axe main hand and it’s very useful if used properly. The only thing I would do is change the auto attack so it applies a condition when it bounces.
As it stands now the weapon is fantastic for condition/power builds.
at least you get footsteps, noone notices my dreamer unless i begin shooting
Bingo. I’ve had my dreamer for a few months now and people rarely notice it unless I’m just walking around spamming 1 all day. Still I suppose it could be worse…
ANet, what’s your say on the matter? Is this how the game is supposed to be? There’s also been a lot of people complaining about a drop in FPS and even some graphics changes after the maintenance/patch.
I agree 100 percent. Like everyone else I have seen jump in the loading times and a considerable drop in FPS. Very Frustrating. I removed my local.dat file. Still no relief. Fingers crossed the problem is fixed soon.
Crippling Talon when not traited with offhand training has 900 range. When traited the skill states it has 1200 range. However, the actual skill range does not increase to 1200 in game when traited.
I’ve been thinking the same question. I tried switching to the longbow/shortbow for WvW after the recent patch and I had to drop the longbow. Not because it was bad; but because it far out-performed my shortbow and I found myself hardly using it at all. The reason i’m so attatched to the shortbow? I crafted the Dreamer months ago and I’m not shelving my legendary just because the longbow is better. Fingers crossed that something gets changed on the shortbow to give it a decent nitch. It’s terrific for kiting but that really doesn’t help against anyone unless they are melee based.
The new skill spotter says it increases precision by 150 in the trait line but it still only increases by 70 and says 70 when in combat.
Got everything for The Dreamer…except that pesky precursor.

I thought the same thing about the super greatsword skin I found, since the SAB was out for a month. Prices started at 15g, but were up in the 60g range recently, even before SAB was removed.
I might be able to see that but it’s just a tonic. Unfortunately it’s not really usable other than for fun. It would be nice if it at least had some skills or something to play with.
Well I’m a part of the 75% club, I’ve got everything but the lover. I refuse to spend the gold for it on the trading post; so I’ve decided to run dungeons and mystic forge the exotics from that. It’ll take longer but it’s essentially free and I’m going to get back an exotic I can sell.
Edit: Before I decided to try this tactic I was crafting rares and throwing them into the forge. I was at about 200 short bows when I decided to change tactics.
The contents temporary, only 12 days long, so only a limited number of tonics…
Price will probably drop in the short term, next 12 days, as more come on the market, remain stable for a few weeks/months, then just continue to rise forever really with inflation…pretty much like any other rare one off item from limited time content.
hmm interesting point, I think you’re right. I’m going to hope demand doesn’t drop when the event is over and hold on to it. Thanks!
I got it from the chest and at this point I’m debating keeping it or selling it. I don’t think holding on to it will cause an increase in value because more people are sure to get it and post it on the trading post. Just looking for some advice!
