Fair enough but you will probably have to wait another 2-3 years to play it. Meanwhile the rest of us will be enjoying it. See you in HoT in 2-3 years.
You mean you get to playtest it for us. Since ANet fixes the gemstore first and always, the environments will no doubt be full of bugged quests.
I’d rather take my 50$ and play The Witcher 3 for a year, then grab HoT when it’s on sale for 10$.

Because I can easily afford it and it means almost nothing to me to pay for it now. Entertainment value is subjective and I made the decision based on what I saw to purchase it. Others are more leery and want to wait and I respect that. I just bought Witcher 3 as well by the way. I have not fired it up yet though.
You’re going to pay for an empty box with the GW2 logo because the cost is nothing to you… well, you’re a good consumer, no one can criticize you on that field. Probably the ideal consumer. Lots of money. Not everyone else has as much money as you, so we have to think about what we buy.
I’ve seen the previews, read the blog posts, and have a decent idea what I am getting. I made my decision based on what Anet has revealed about HoT to date. Also, you will note, I have never criticized anyone for not buying the pre-order. My response to the OP was not critical. It was based on their post and the reality that if they want it for free with the next expansion they will have to wait 2-3 years. In that time, much like everyone that bought GW2 at launch, many of us will be playing the game and enjoying it over that time span.
You pointed out you haven’t criticized anyone. Did you think I was criticizing you by calling you a ‘good consumer’? You’re the one projecting criticism onto my words.
Fact is, you’re being an excellent consumer by throwing money around without worrying about it. That’s how the economy is sustained, through emotional impulse purchases and it’s a good thing you have enough money that you can afford to comfortably toss away $50. I wish more people could say the same. They can’t, though, because most of the world doesn’t have the kind of wealth you do. Which is why we have threads like this.
