Well..discussion started as “WvW has never been about skill” and now leaning toward the culling bug that disables any attempt at skill facing large numbers. We all agree on that, so no point arguing more. Please keep these separate, as we’re trying to explain to Same here that WvW definitely is about skill and not only numbers. Choose your fights though as some fights are lost before you try.
Same: msg me if you want some pointers in tactic if you want to improve your skills in few vs many
I know for a fact there has been people winning 3 to 1 fights. Be it solo vs three, 2 ppl vs 6, 6 vs 18 or 20 vs 60. Hell I’m sure there has been 30 vs 90 scenarios where the 30 ppl won. But it’s hard for me to prove it in every scenario
I’m not sure why you want the developers to make it easier for you to accomplish this. It’s not easy, I give you that but it shouldn’t be.
As for your first post:
WvW has never been about skill. This has nothing to do with its playerbase but everything to do with the game. WvW in its current state doesn’t allow skill to be a definitive factor in a fight. There are way too many variables negate it. This is a numbers game before anything else, its flashy, easy to get into and promotes zerging like sheep.
The only real skill can be found in tPvP but that is already as dead as it can possibly be.
This is what I completely disagrees on. If you can’t handle that people disagrees with you, you are a novice on public internet forums
Stop reasoning Genev, I’m trying to get people to think
IMO If you have 15 people, you can accomplish anything in this game, as long as you decide where and when to fight. I don’t think zerging is a tactic or the mother of all solution. Turtle tactic were used at a time, but still this can be broken. But lets agree to disagree
To Same:
Imagine a RL scenario. Give 30/40 monkeys their own fully-loaded machinegun, and try to take them out with 9 of your best friends. I wouldn’t exactly go head-to-head vs them on an open field. I don’t get what you’re trying to prove. The culling problem has been identified and we can only hope it will be fixed. But still I don’t know why you insist you should be superior to those monkeys when all logic states you shouldn’t charge in head first? :p
Ok. I will never try to attack a much larger force than ourselves again, since’ it’s 99% probable that we will lose.
I don’t know about you, but I live for that 1%. If the game would allow 10 man to easily beat 30 man, do you think people would think that’s fine as well? I just won’t listen to people telling me what’s possible or not, because I have seen some epic kitten in some fights that I’ve had, and having someone on a forum saying it’s not supposed to be possible, I couldn’t care less :p
Anyways, I will try to make some more movies and nice tactics in the future. But you’re probably gonna flame it anyways
Ok
I have lots of footage, but I haven’t gotten to making a movie yet. Here’s a free taste
The funny thing is we have faced larger numbers
And yes we die also, but I think I prove that a small group (7ppl) can still be a force to be reckoned with.
Edit: I know I suck in this movie, not having stacks or food, but it’s kinda old and we have improved a lot since this. I just wanted to show small groups can still play vs numbers.

You will never see a group of 10 beat a group of 30/40. This has nothing to do with skill, it has to do with AoE cap, downed state and other mechanics that limit the impact of skill on battles.
It may be the time for you to consider playing for another guild or team up with other players, because I have played in a 10 man group killing three times our numbers and more. It all comes down to skill and tactic, and the lack of in the opposing team.
But I agree with the culling problem this has become harder, both since facing larger numbers makes both allies and enemy invisible, you really need to stick to lower numbers. But still you can use tactic to survive. Just don’t run where you think the aoe will be
You people dont seem to understand why repair costs is bad. Say your a guardian and your job is to charge enemy line and break it. You got entire zerg attacking you, almost guaranteeing death..
I’m a guardian. I can make you a few pointers if you like
I charge in among the first in our “warband” but are likely to die last. I think you probably spec or play wrong
When I’m bored I sometimes log on my mesmer alt, and go to EB JP. At the water where you normally get ported up if you have a friendly mesmer on top, you can climb a small hill that looks like you can climb (I think it’s too steep cause I have never managed to actually climb it). Thing is, you can troll people on the top, tricking them into thinking you are trying to get up, so when they come close to the edge, just pull them down with your focus skill
I’m sure more than one have cried about finally managing to finish the puzzle, on their way to claim the prize, seeing an enemy mesmer failing to climb a hill..laugh at him, or even try to shoot him, just to be pulled down again in the next second
I had a few laughs at that
Is it only me, or does it seem like the french servers are teaming up more times than not vs Blacktide? I’m with Blacktide and today we have been facing VS on one side and AS on the other, without the one taking out the others camps/towers. Does it really take two french servers to beat Blacktide? I heard people seeing these two servers running two zergs in close proximity without even charging eachother (this was in either VS or AS BL as we have mostly been keeping our own borderland ok for now).
Tiniest possible human girl with big blue eyes, adorable blonde pigtails and a giant smashy hammer.
I thought about asura but they’re too smug. I wanted innocuous adorableness followed by surprise smashing.
You would’ve loved Lurikeen Champion back in the days of Dark Age of Camelot :p
Use a staff to keep you alive. Press empower when allies are around you and make sure you have the skill to heal when giving boons to allies. Also make sure you heal when dodging, and put on the sigils that give you endurance. With 1300 healing power I can heal allies for up to 1700 that I have seen when dodging. Swap weapon, gain endurance, dodge again
I made a Norn just because, as another poster said, I love the snowy areas when leveling, plus I wanted to be BIG. I wanted to play defensively and make people attack me rather than my teammates in wvwvw. I was also surprised when I found some of the elite abilities, like the snow leopard. Yes, you can turn invisible for a short period of time, but during those 30 seconds of snow leopard form, just use the 5 ability and you have the fastest moving character in the game! And you can use it two times in that timefram
