Recultivation of orr

I was thinking about this earlier while going through malchor’s leap for the first time in awhile. I agree, I think a robust change to the entire area would be awesome. Orr should rise again. Zhaitan’s dead, his undead horde’s while magically held in stasis currently by the magic of video games are dead too.

overtuned events

In areas that aren’t level 80, it can be extremely challenging to get down story events. In the straits of devestation, almost every event besides one or two, is totally unsoloable. This was ok when people actually were leveling up for the first time and came to these zones to do stuff. But now, a year and a half or something later everyone is 80 and seeing people in below 80 zones is a rarity. It happens, but it’s a rarity. Case in point, I’ve yet to see someone besides myself in this zone. So everything you do, unless you have a boat load of friends who want to help you down every event, is try and fail, at least for me that is. How you kill 2 waves of like ten mobs while keeping a robot alive or downing 4 boats and half of an undead battleship while dodging like 40 encroaching mobs solo is beyond me.

Event content that isn’t group specific really should have scaling difficulty. Why it doesn’t currently is beyond me.

Skill effect toggle

not to plug a different game.. not my goal at all. But ff14 has the graphics option to reduce or fully remove your and other peoples skill effects. It substantially improves the overall experience. ff14’s effect’s might be even a little bit harsher than gw2 but gw2 is still pretty garish with anything more than solo content. It’s not as bad if you’re ranged but as a melee it can be really challenging keeping up with the boss’s movements when the whole screen is being color bombed. Please give us the option to limit or remove our or any other person’s skill effects, thanks.

voice acting, besides asura

it’s all pretty terrible, there’s a few exceptions. But on the whole, I can’t even sit through a full cutscene because of just how bad it is. Trahearne, terrible, Logan, terrible, Eir, not as bad as the other two, but not that great. Queen Jenna, terrible, pretty much all of the norn and human, terrible.

It’s not even the voice actors themselves, it’s the dialogue they were given, the script should have been thrown out, the only caveat to this is the Asura race. Pretty much all of their voice acting, is either funny or endearing or just generally good. If all of the races voice acting was as good as the Asura’s this would be a much, much better system.

Nothing against the gameplay, but c’mon.. you guys at Anet have to know how bad it is :P.

The story is a big part of the whole picture, if it’s badly put forth the whole package is damaged. Please think about reworking the script, and actually hire some skilled writers.

Not stating that the plot isn’t good enough to work. There’s nothing wrong with the plot, but the dialogue the npc’s use to act out the plot is shoddy at best.

P.S. If you wrote, or were on the team who wrote the script… sorry, no hate against you, but it’s really bad :P.

dual pistol engineer with a few questions

awesome, thanks a ton guys. I finally tried pvp tonight, did it for a few hours, ended up with the same dual pistol but i switched out my mine and my rocket for elixir s and elixir b. It seemed to work pretty well, it was tough for me to control the aoe when things got crazy, easier to just target and hit a button heh

dual pistol engineer with a few questions

Hi guys, I just hit 62, and I have a few questions that I’d like answered if anyone has time :0, preferably before I hit 80.

Ok, so I’m a dual pistol full engineer, my slot skills on right side are throw mine, rocket turret, elixir U and (well I just switched it out, I was using the golem, havent actually tried it yet but i’m about to test it) my elite skill is supply crate.

I love this build, or at least most of it, I love the control it gives me over mobs, and mob placement, and my placement, I’ve only used this for solo questing and group events, and a couple dungeon runs. No pvp to speak as of yet, I may dabble in it later, but for now, just trying to get to 80 asap.

My questions, are based around two things:

One: up till now, i’ve been gearing full condition damage/precision, is this correct? Is this what I want at 80 to get the full benefit of my build? I don’t plan on changing builds currently, because I really love how these skills I have currently work together, but I’m not going to say that’s a 100 pct decision.

Two: Totally based on that last statement I made. How do you think this build is going to hold up in level 80 explorable dungeons/stuff? Up to now, it’s been awesome, but if there’s something, some pitfall i’m going down I’d like to know haha.

So ya, what say you guys? please reply, I tried to get some engineers assistance on /map but noone replied to me, and I really want to kill all doubt about what I’m doing with this guy before I hit 80.

Thanks a bunch before hand, again, please, please, people with knowledge reply thanks a ton.

sorting options

Hi, just a suggestion, that would help, I think quite alot of people. The options that we’re given to sort our sell for list isn’t very detailed.

I’d like it if you guys could add along with the sorting options we have at the moment, a “sort by quality” option. It’d make my trading post life alot simpler, if I could just sort all of my sell list by quality instad of just name and quantity.

Think it’s fairly simple to understand what I mean, color coded, so the blues would show up with the blues, the green’s with the green’s the yellow’s with the yellow’s and the oranges with the oranges.

thanks alot.

Anyone with a basic grasp of the English language should be able to figure out what Toughness does – it makes you tougher. Things like Power, Defense and Toughness are pretty self-explanatory, things like Precision may need some explaining but all you have to do is hover your cursor over it in the Character window and it tells you. Do we really need a “Push W to walk forward” tutorial, or do we just need to use our brains/common sense.
In my experience with mmo’s this game does actually teach you a lot more than others do, with in-game WvW tutorials, PvP tutorials, Scout NPC’s… there’s a lot of help here, plus the official GW2 wiki.

… look how many people see issues, and think over what you’re saying.. if 40 people say the game is too op, then maybe you need to reconsider your stance. You and the 3-4 other people who are proponents of “Keep the game super hard, we love dying over and over again” are in the minority at the moment.

I’ll stick to my original statement, the game builds itself to be content for a general populace but is tuned for the 5 pct who enjoy playing games on elite difficulty. It needs to be toned down or it’s going to lose a significant amount of people..

I can’t say I have seen that much skills that are ‘OP’. It is far from a huge flaw, but could be addressed if there are some unpredictable, too strong spells.

I honestly think you are overreacting a bit.

The OP isn’t overreacting at all. You just haven’t done that much content – many mob skills just hit you without any animation frames at all, some of these attacks are also extremely OP. Look at the Champion Shark in Sparkfly Swamp for instance who can pretty much one shot anyone without even being close to it – this is a significant problem and design flaw.

I’ve personally lost count how many times I’ve died to cheap attacks that have been unavoidable.

I have never been one-shot by that shark.

in fact, I kitten near soloed it, even though it managed to hit me a few times.

you can’t have a glass cannon build and expect to properly face off against champs and even some vets.

If you take a glass cannon build built to be like the traditional mmo “max dps” spec, you will be flattened over and over until you’ve done something about that.

Either equip toughness or vitality as one of your stats, or spec heavily into at least one survival trait line. (doing this will also give you more group utility)

The issue with your viewpoint is we are’nt given instruction as to what we need to survive. The game just throws you in at full speed and you just have to figure it all out. Which I guess is fun for some, but I think the majority of people would prefer a ramped difficulty, where at least for the first 30 or so levels it’s a decent amount easier, so you can actually figure stuff, gear, stats.. what this does, that does without having to die over and over and ultimately get frustrated and quite possibly quit.

The game is too hard for low level, it’s too hard for solo.. if you expect a level 10 to understand about toughness and all that, then I think you’re being a tad bit silly.. crap, I still don’t really understand all that, and am just now, getting a smidgen of an idea about it.

Add animations that are easily sightable and recognizable at least 1-3 seconds before mob casts uber spell, give more time of red circle before dropping the spell.. there’s a bunch of issues with this, that if they fixed them the game would be so much more pleasing. For me, most definetely, but I don’t think I’m the only one.

If this game is meant for the hardcore of hardcore then fine, i’ll leave now, because that’s not what I want out of my mmo’s.

The only problems i feel are those stunblocks…. they need to add a defiant timer after a certain number of stunlocks in a row. OP’ness i dont really see it tbh… One shot kill or one shot downed? ivenever been one shot killed, well sometimes rarely if i have v low health.. I get downed then that takes one extra person from fight tor evive me… tnis is fine in my eyes… it forces peope to work together and actually REVIVE each other…

on solo story missions it’s the exact same thing. one shot down.. one shot dead. you have noone to back you up. if yer downed yer dead.

haha, ya.. mine was a umm.. devourer.. thing.. cast a fireball that you just couldnt see coming.. hit 3 times in a row for 400 or so damage each. no tell bar, or cast motion just boom. 1200 damage out of nowhere with a health pool of a little over 1.000.

Ok, so I’ve played this game since it came out, and i’ve pretty much been here since pre launch. I’ve seen it before and not talked about it but just the amount of, and the silliness of how overpowered some of the mobs/dungeons are in this game is really starting to tick and turn me off.

This came after dying 4-5 times off a one shot skill in a level 14 story quest. I have a maxxed level as well so i’ve seen/done all that stuff, and run into more op’ness and just general bad skill design, CoE exp being the biggest culprit there in my mind.

This has to be curtailed, everyone isn’t hardcore, everyone doesn’t want to die to cheap skills that they don’t have time to get out of the way of. Keep the skills, lower the damage, or keep the skills, add a player sightable cast bar so we have a chance to actually enjoy the skills and enjoy the challenge while not feeling like we’re getting robbed of repair money by utterly cheap, undodgable skills.

Please don’t focus on the CoE exp, that wasn’t the post, there is a general level of overpoweredness in total.

The simple fix is to add a cast bar to the skills, so they don’t just randomly shoot at us in 1/10 of a second. This needs to be adressed now, this is a huge flaw with this game.

I just tried the story quest again, and got one shot again, I have a little over 1000 hp’s and the mob uses a skill that takes it all off in one hit, so cheap, so unfun. ugh.

I just hit this as well, I was looking for group for fractals of the mist.. /map’d 3 times in like 10 mins.. and i’ve been stuck with /say and /map excessive messaging since.. been around 10 minutes.. this is really excessive, I get that you’re trying to keep gold spam out.. but there’s got to be a better way, you all know the text they use to market their stuff.. just block that.. idk.

this is bad though, i can’t look for a group because of it.
