so for a guild do i just ask for an invite in the chat box when in WvW? how can i tell if they are good rather than a few random players?

Two very good questions. Let me answer them in order.

1. You can ask in chat if you like, but the best is if you know a recruiter’s name and whisper for an invite or if you have a friend in that guild, they can ask.

2. How can you tell if that guild is good? Okay, it depends. If you are looking for a guild with good WvW presence, keep an eye out for guild tags. After a while, you’ll notice the same ones over and over. This also includes the number of people carrying the tags. Hang with one of them. Follow any of their commanders. Talk to them in chat. If you like being with them, ask for an invite. Also keep in mind that some guilds would prefer that you have a WvW presence before they would invite you. This is easy to do. Just play WvW. Play all aspects from zerging, to defense of a supply camp, to escorting yaks, to dropping and building siege. People will begin to notice your commitment to your server and you’ll probably have to start refusing invites.

One more thing about joining guilds. Always keep in mind any requirements that they have. Some require 100% repping, others you need to be in TeamSpeak/Vent/Raidcall. Some have mandatory times to be on. Just keep those in mind when choosing.

ok guys, ill take a look at it when im online tomorrow, so i go into WvW and look for the blue marker and then go to them and find a big group and go with them and just do what i can, kills drop items i can use and give me exp?

I would also recommend that you consider joining a WvW guild if at all possible. Maybe not one of the hardcore ones, but perhaps one that may not be extreme. You’ll get some good info and recommendations for playing WvW.

The answer to your question is: it depends.
What you might want to ask yourself is how effective do you want to be in WvW. At lower levels, you may not have many traits or utility slots open. Or any at all. This is something to think about.
But please, do not let that stop you at all. If you decide to play at a lower level, than I highly recommend that you stick with a zerg. This is especially true if you never played WvW in the first place. I leveled my ranger from 15 to 80. Not all was in WvW, but I spent a huge part of my playing in it.
Just remember, everyone can contribute, regardless if you are taking a keep or defending your garrison. So I encourage you to jump in and enjoy the fun that is WvW.

The only problem with this is simply stated as follows: You can’t please all of the people all of the time.
All zergs contain people that all have an opinion on what the commander should do and if they don’t do as they say, that commander sucks. My honest opinion on a rating system is to NOT have one. All it will do is put more pressure on someone who only wants to enjoy the game. If it gets to much, they will only turn of the icon and refuse to lead. That is not the point of the commander tag. Are there bonehead commanders? Absolutely. The simple answer is, well, allow me to quote Grit.

Bonehead commanders are easy to spot.. remember their name and avoid grouping up with them. If you’re a WvW regular, it’s not hard to keep track of the good ones and the bad ones.

The gates were creaking, ready to explode from the force of pressure hitting it.

“Quickly, everyone to the Lord’s room” cried our Commander as she ran in that direction.

As I ran, I noticed only three of us were with her. Turning around I looked as the rest of my fellow defenders were still at their siege weapons, working hard at trying to stop the inevitable flood of invaders from coming in. Then it happened. There was a loud creak and than an explosion of wood flew inside the keep. They had broken through the gate.

I ran but stopped on the bridge that lead over into the Lord’s room.

“Come inside the Lord’s room” my commander mentioned to me, “and we’ll make our stand here”.

Looking at her, I then turned my head. I watched as each of my friends were taken down, still using the siege weapons until they stopped and started fighting up close. They would fight valiantly until their last breath left them.

Turning my head back to her, I shook my head. “No” I expressed, “I will make my stand here”.

Nodding her head, my commander just smiled at me. No words were needed to be said. She understood. Facing the front of the bridge, I prepared my utilities and weapons that I was going to use on the mob that was coming. Then it happened. They were here. I threw out a Muddy Terrain and let loose a Barrage of arrows. Unfortunately, it didn’t even slow them down. I could feel swords, daggers, axes, arrows and spells of every known magic hitting my body as they ran past me to get at the Keep Lord. Lying in a bloody heap, I was able to turn my head to the room and watched as the rest of the defenders, including my commander, go down defending the Keep. My last moments were of seeing the invaders celebrating on taking it.

I awoke to a bright light and stood next to my commander.

“I died a glorious death today” I uttered while smiling at her.

“That you did” she said, “that you did. Now, let’s go get our Keep back”.

Still smiling, I followed her as we ran back.

I believe that you could find those in WvW. You can buy rares for karma, or exotics for WvW badges.
