Not wearing armor in ranked Q

Admittedly, this was a poor question. I generally believe that people do this out of ignorance, and so informing them is the first best response while reporting them may not may not be appropriate depending on the circumstances (i.e. their state of ignorance and/or intent).

The purpose of this post is the make people generally aware of the fallacy that “only amulets affect PvP attributes.” Amulets are the only way to modify your attributes, but certain armor matters for your base PvP toughness stat.

I’ve seen this a lot, lately…

It seems to be a common misconception that armor doesn’t affect stats in PvP. This is true in the absolute sense for helm, shoulders, and gloves (you don’t need to wear them). This is also true in the sense that the PvE stats of the armor are not of consequence.

However, wearing or not wearing chest, legs, and boots DOES affect your toughness attribute. That is, it doesn’t matter if you wear level 1 armor, but you need to wear something in those three armor slots or your PvP attributes (in-match) will be affected.

What should you do about these people who queue in ranked without armor? They are playing with ~600 to ~800 toughness (depending on armor class) less than what they could (and should) have.

edit: sorry for the double post :()

Does team colour affect your chance of win?

Itsa a cute pet theory(nice Source), but Saiyan’s comment does not accord with axiomatic probability or formal statistical methods.

…the Strong Law of Large Numbers…

Almost, but actually totally irrelevant. Better luck next guess. This is a (kinda) rare case where statistical inference can be performed by EXACT testing…no approximation required, so behavior at the limit (dealt with by the LLN) is irrelevant.

The FORMAL result supports the OP’s claim; it is significant at a p value < 0.00001… in other words, there is less than a 1 in 100,000 chance the test has yielded a false positive
(wanna verify? H-naught: categorical variables are independent).

But this takes the terms of data descriptions to be appropriate…hint: they are not and there’s nothing surprising in this data……… garbage in garbage out, OP is abusing statistics

Why weapon stow?

in PvP

Some players will seemingly weapon stow immediately after every skill — is there a general reason for doing so?

I’m aware of skill specific reasons for this (i.e. mesmer gs stuff) where there is (or was) a measurable gain in the mechanical efficiency of the skill. Also, I’m aware that this is a one of the better ways to cancel-cast.

But why stow in between every skill use? it is an after cast thing? combat state relate? I guess there’s no reason not too…anyone willing to explain?
