How is this any different then a mesmer or other class having to carry 3 or 4 weapon sets for different situations and having to swap thru their Hero screen/inventory. Ele already has basically 4 weapon sets with their attunments. The other classes only have 2.
Engineer has kits which is why they only have one weapon. Although I think engi’s do deserve a second weapon slot but not ele’s.
Oh, and just a FYI, I have a lvl 80 ele that carries multiple weapons that I have to swap out of combat if needed for different situations so it isn’t like I don’t understand where you coming from.
The idea that other classes have 2 weapon sets and the elementalist has 4 is all fine and dandy. It is also completely irrelevant. That is a factor in battle which is not the purpose of this change. So if the other classes can change equipment in the middle of combat for battle purposes, that’s the same as the 4 weapon attunments of an elementalist. That is not related to this at all. This change isn’t about that.
The change would be good because:
Every other class (except engineer who should also get this) has the 1-2 slots of inventory space saved by having equipment in a second weapon set. So yes, it is different from other classes (even in this small small way). Personally, I think the ability to have weapon hotkeys in general would be a good idea, but at the very least, the elementalist and engineer would benefit this change.
2. From a game designer perspective, it doesn’t make any sense having a button in the UI straight up missing depending on the profession played; obviously when you aren’t a new player, it isn’t a problem but it is a quality of life problem for what is apparently the fastest selling MMO ever.
3. There is no harm whatsoever to this quality of life change. This doesn’t affect battle. This reduces the mouse clicks needed for switching weapons for these 2 classes and is less cumbersome in general. Overall not a big deal but a helpful change.
Also I don’t quite see why you think the word “deserve” makes any sense in this context. Sure if I think there is some sort of absurd narrative between profession balance and being fanatical about what a class should feel like, then yeah I can see the idiotic logic of thinking one class deserves a quality of life change over another.
But I haven’t hit that level of crazy(at least not right now anyway).
