[Suggestions] Quality of Life Changes

I’d like to be able to remove transmutes from items. Once you transmute something you can’t ever get it back to its original state. You can skin the item using its own skin, but it turns out to be (e.g.):

“Ad Infinitum

Transmuted
Ad Infinitum"

I’d even be fine with skinning an item as itself just removing the “Transmuted X” info text (i.e. removing the transmute can still cost a transmutation charge for all I care).

I guess this might have been changed since I last checked, but I don’t currently have enough charges to test it out.

Fairly sure Anet doesn’t read this thread.

Wizard hat, please!

I’m offering you my money, you refuse to take it for some bizarre reason.

Enjoy… not having my money?

Bump. As currently implemented this is profoundly irritating. I would like to see this fixed.

Was awarded the bronze and silver chest twice (though not a third time). Did not span a daily reset.

Legendary weapons

Obviously I go into this knowing that some players will be very upset. That’s why it’s such a tough decision.

Ankdarkwolf, Darkmikau, Ballads, Spira, Caerbannog, Cysgod, you each posted a variant of an accusation I’ve seen many times over the past few months on the forums, something along the lines of, “AN shipped half an expansion with HoT.” I take issue with that. We shipped a new region full of content, a new mastery system, gliding, guild halls, a new profession, nine new elite specializations for existing professions, and more. Then we shipped precursor journeys for existing legendaries, and said, “We’ve been working hard on new legendary weapons, the first handful of which will be introduced in Heart of Thorns, with more to come in subsequent updates.” While I fully get that you’re disappointed today, this is not about us shipping half an expansion pack.

Mo

Sorry? I read your response as somewhat indignant while not outwardly disrespectful. I’m not convinced that was your intent, but you might want to choose your words more carefully lest others share my interpretation.

I understand your decision, disagree with it, and will probably pay less as a result of it (I’m glad all that time I spent in HoT map metas was worth it!). Worse yet, I’ll probably still play GW2 and now just draw on the server without paying my share.

And while the precise fraction of the promised content released with HoT is subjective and debatable, with all due respect this is precisely about your company shipping an incomplete expansion pack and you reneging on what was a clear selling point in the HoT marketing materials.

[Suggestion] Warrior Balance

Axe auto attack already over shadows axe 5 in terms of raw damage. I gave axe 5 identity in that sense.

I hear that a lot. I haven’t done the math. But it sounds to me like people ignore the fact that Axe five hits 5 targets. Make sure to include that in your damage calculation. Of course, it probably wouldn’t be hitting 5 targets if it were knocking all of them back radially. In any case, I think reflect would be better than knockback or daze for axes. But having reflect on #2 and #5 might be excessive.

A lot of people have made that comment with the greatsword, and I came up with the solution with that concern. It scales with both power and condition damage.

I don’t think a compromise of using both alleviates the concern. I cannot think of a reason to use a GS in condi gear. And you haven’t given me one since the rest of the GS skills are still 100% power based. As such the scaling is pretty much wasted except for condi damage from might stacks. Yet the skill is still balanced around condi damage. Just in a weird spot. Seems like the condi damage scaling is just there based on the theme of the skill, which is, perhaps, not necessary.

Come to think of it this design (refreshing DoT) also conflicts with the new Blood Reckoning (which I also hate and you’ve covered). If they don’t change Blood Reckoning back (they won’t) it could be a rolling DoT.

Edit: Apparently the mature language filter turns “Axe 5” followed by a space and “hits” into “Axe kittens.”

Fear on Bloody Roar and knockback on Axe 5 are both incredibly irritating for PvE (albeit thematically cool). I can see the value for PvP, but those changes would make the skills essentially useless for raids and stackable fractals (< 91). Basically ranger LB 4 integrated into the core mechanic of power zerker. Ugh.

Highlights the need for segregated PvP/PvE balance honestly.

Cutting damage and utility on axe 5 in favor of more control is probably a mistake since it blurs the identity of the axe and mace OHs. I like axe 5 as a mobile, 5-target, reliable whirl finisher on a shortish CD. Love the reflect on Axe 2.

I’d prefer keeping mace as the de facto control OH, and in the interest of balance perhaps decrease the CD of mace 5 while also decreasing the knockdown duration.

Do not like the change to GS primal burst on the grounds that you’re using condi dmg as the scaling mechanism. Much like with the fear Bloody Roar, I think it actually discourages using berserk mode in the first place. You could scale your DoT based on power and it wouldn’t be a nightmare for gearing.

Also, “Come at me, bro?” Really? Fear is totally useful and definitely fits warrior theme and design. I would literally stop playing the class if my warrior shouted “Come at me, bro.” And probably quit the game. Assuming the skill name is tongue-in-cheek.

Probably been said, but I feel like venting.

I can’t see any of the auras anymore with the faint eggshell. But I’m reasonable, I’ll take the bad with the good. At the very least I’m just so glad my visuals aren’t bogged down by people stacking infusion auras with bats/snow, bees, etc.

Curious why one of the BiS condition damage consumables is produced by a limited time recipe.

Any chance we’re going to get some reasonable alternative in the future? Or at least be able to purchase the original recipe with laurels like some other living story rewards?

Matte Metal Textures

I haven’t played GW2 in about 8-12 months and was checking in for HoT. In that time-span I’ve upgraded my video card from a 450GTS to a 970GTX but have not changed any external settings in the NVIDIA control panel.

I was a little disappointed to find that my Warrior (T3 Charr cultural) and Guardian (T3 Asura Cultural) armor sets and select armor pieces like the Dry Top goggles were still reflective on the character select screen but a matte metallic shade of the same color in game. This issue also seems to affect the unsheathed Juggernaut effect.

I’ve been experimenting with in-game video settings to no avail, and I’m not sure why there’s an inconsistency between the different character views.

Is there an in-game setting I’m missing that makes metallic armor more reflective again? Were there any graphical changes made since I last played that changed the art direction of metallic textures so as to make this impossible?

EDIT: I now have samples from day and night in a few different zones. I think the root of the “issue” isn’t necessarily graphics settings but the disparity in light levels between day and night and a zone like Gendarran Fields vs Cursed Shore. When the sun is up the textures are exactly as reflective as I remember (perhaps more so with the new video card). This seems to be the light model used for the paper doll and character select screen. When the sun is down or there’s otherwise less direct light, the ugly matte textures are abundant. So as a follow-up question, were any changes made that made reflected light sources less prominent?

Suggest fixing the 1 copper raise problem

Was buying a 2 gold item of the market and made a fair 30 silver raise. After an hour I checked once more only to find 4 new bids that were 1, 2, 3 and 4 copper higher.

In a real auction you can’t just offer one million dollars and one cent as an outbid and seeing this in guild wars frustrating. It ends up as a test of endurance instead of gold and that is in heavy favour of market bots.

Please restrict it somehow. A 1% minimum raise would be a gift from heaven

I’m not saying I don’t agree with your frustration.

But you’ve superimposed your definition of “fair” onto a system with predefined rules driven by anonymous users with no accountability and have become upset that others don’t follow your arbitrary principles.

The way I see it, you could have outbid by 1c, let those other users outbid by 1c, and then upped your bid again. You would then have left a substantial portion of your “fair” raise as wiggle room.

As it stands the item you want is over the price you have deemed fair. So you can either not buy it if you think it’s overvalued, or buy it instantly if it’s that important to you. If you buy it instantly you’ll obviously pay a premium, but one that’s fair by the current market conditions and thus by definition.

Unfortunately all a 1% price increment or decrement minimum would achieve is non-linear bid and ask queues, respectively. And take my word for it, that’s anything but a gift from heaven. 1c differences are fine.

I run Distinguished Circle of Logic with the Magic Find utility infusion 99% of the time in PvE. I know the Gold Find infusion is also good, but the Magic Find one feels more “fun” to me.

I ALSO have Mark of the Tethyos Houses for min/maxing since the +power fine infusion is cheaper in the offensive slot it has.

Make sure you check the WvW vendors for the necks. You can save some of those laurels (think the cost goes down to 20 laurels for the neck) if you have extra WvW badges.

EDIT: This doesn’t just apply to warrior, but all the other zerk classes/builds I play in PvE as well.
