Coming back into GW2! New to Heart of Thorns.

Hey guys,

I used to hardcore play GW2 during the school year and summer and stopped playing for a whole year. Coming back into the game, what should I do if I eventually want to become a reliable guild member/ Raider?

Any guide or advice is welcome. And thank you.
Also, if anyone wants a dedicated guild member/is willing to actually participate in team events and not selfishly go towards their own goals, I would love to join.

Thank you very much for the input! That’s definitely an interesting perspective to think of personal reward factor of earning the ascended equipment into this.

Now I have a question,

Let’s say you were going for ascended drops. With the new update on being able to change ascended equipment to the stats you want with a maximum of 15 gold needed to do so, what would you do to get ascended drops?

A. Go do lvl 40 and 50 fractals in hopes of getting ascended equipment boxes.

B. Pay 15 to 20 gold each and everyday to join a FOTM party and make your gold at Silverwastes on the time spent normally trying to finish a lvl 40+ fractal.

Hey guys,
I’m one of those fanatics when it comes to how my avatars look, but I’ve been looking at some of the dyes, specifically the Tamini dyes, and saw their costs. I was dumbfounded.
1000+ gold for the bright blue color. I may as well go for a precursor instead or save that for whatever awesome things are coming out in HOT expansion.
Any idea why Arenanet purposely took out ONLY tamini dyes? Was it ever released before and then rereleased? And if so, what was the time span between it’s first removal, and it’s second release? Please be civil with your responses and give some thought in them.

Thank you very much. appreciate the response, sorry for filling up the forum.

Hi Arenanet,

So I’ve been largely impressed with your mature response to our mostly mature audience. I love you guys for it and I’m sorry to be nit picky, but I have one teensy question. Now there is a new character slot added, if I were to purchase the 100 dollar version ( ultimate) expansion pack, would I get 2 character slots instead of one? ( since this does largely factor in whether or not I want this product vs. your normal one heart of thorns slot).

No Qualtiy Dev Response: Why?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Now we know there’s this whole controversy with the $50 core game and the whole “changing” your FAQ arenanet. Now personally, when it comes to myself only, I couldn’t care less of it cost me $50.00. I haven’t played the game long enough to give me that privilege to say I’m a loyal fan. But why hasn’t there been a quality Dev response to these forums?

The price of that really doesn’t make me bat an eyelash. What makes me worried is that my homeboy veterans and loyal fans of the GW series aren’t being reciprocated the loyalty they’ve shown.

1. Charge everyone $50.00 to ease new players in.
– Alright so I understand this, but if you’re going to “ease” new players in, you certainly aren’t “easing” veterans players into buying this expansion. How about that extra character slot to reciprocate some of that loyalty? Is it going to really cost you that much to give them an extra slot? OR, how about that core part of the game being a removable aspect from part of the cost. It’s kind of weird that the product current GW2 players are paying for is something they already own. I mean at least show some kind of dignity to loyal fans. $5 for core game, $45 for the expansion (not like that kind of cost is acceptable pricing but at least it makes for separate pricing which saves a little bit of dignity). But my beef isn’t even here, it’s that veterans are going to feel shafted with the next issue I’m talking about.

2. FAQ change…
– Now here’s where I’m worried about you Arenanet. Now don’t get me wrong, I love GW2. It’s the best game I’ve played, period, but I’m not about to condone dirty business practices. Y’all changed your FAQ all of a sudden to say that the game does indeed include the core game, when not too long ago y’all stated that you needed the original to be able to play heart of thorns.
Collins said in interviews with AngryJoe and Mattvisual that you need the actual game to play heart of thorns. GW2 players are not going to let you slip away with that one.
We know things are suspect to change. People are willing to condone that, but then you need to explain why it happened.
Don’t act stupid or silent about this. Gamers like me thought we could trust this game for years to come. I can actually see myself playing this game even middle aged and with kids (as a there is quite a number of GW2 players that actually are middle aged and/or have kids).
But now, if we know we can’t trust you to give an explanation, then there’s honestly no reason to play.
Hell I’d be ok with you guys saying some corporate commanders went all corrupt on your butts and forced you to do this (I.e just say it wasn’t your decision). Just give me an explanation and you’ll see that extra 50 dollars in your coffers.

3. Arenanet, this is a relationship.
– Arenanet, trust is hard to earn and easy to lose. I’m the last person worthy of saying this, but please come with something good or people like me won’t consider this a long term relationship. If this is all business with you and if that’s how you roll now, I’d rather roll with another company that puts value in its reputation. (this better not be like another Manny/Mayweather advertisement train that you used loyal fans for hyping only).

New Armor?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: mordefelix.5826

mordefelix.5826

Does anyone have any hint of new armor coming out. I’m very into character customization when concerning how my toons look like. Call me superficial, but I don’t think it’d be bad for the game to have more variety to its armor sets. Especially with ascended level armor. That stuff has great detail but MAN does it look ugly. Anyone have any word on what’s up with this topic?

Obsidian Shard Farming: March 2015

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: mordefelix.5826

mordefelix.5826

Hi guys, what’s the fastest way for obsidian shard farming? And if you have long time experience with it, what’s a rough time estimate on how long it would take to get let’s say… 500 obsidian shards. For example.

If you were going to the silverwastes to farm obsidian shards. How long did it take to get the X number of bandit crests to get the the keys for opening chests? How long did it take to get X number of obsidian shards? (or you can provide a rate at which you seem to get obsidian shards).

Sorry for another post about this, I just think obsidian shard farming has changed drastically over the years and I’ve seen some confusing things.

I have been on this area for 40 minutes trying to FIGURE out the bug problem behind this. It’s a simple “press button” and pull chain. I’m still unable to finish this map for 100% because of this bug. Please fix this or enable my character to pull a simple chain. I killed everything within a reasonable radius of it to allow myself to be out of combat (verified by being able to use a waypoint while I was trying to pull the chain).

I want to write a person’s lore.
I love people’s stories. If you’re truly a gamer, I’d like to get to know you. Tell me something about yourself that made you a gamer and love gaming.
There are some really touching stories about gamers these days in which gaming saved their lives and defines who they are. I think that’s beautiful.
I’d like to skype you and we’ll talk to each other. Sure, in the beginning it’ll be awkward, but I can make it ease its way through. If you love guild wars 2 or some other game in a way that really hits home, then talk to me about it. I’ve played so many games that I can probably relate in a similar way.
After that, I’ll write guild wars 2 themed lore. And it won’t be just any story, it’ll be YOUR story. So if you love guild wars 2 more than any other game, I’ll write your life as if you actually were a character in guild wars 2.
If my story really hits home to you and if you feel it resonates with you, then I’ve done my job. I hope you were satisfied with what I did. I’ll write these stories for FREE, but I would appreciate people to donate in-game GW2 gold or cool items to me if I do write their story so I can write my own story of being obscenely rich (haha :P) and then post it here. I know I would love doing this because I love GW2’s community and that’s something that’s worth doing, even it is for free. I will post these stories on the lore forums in topic/replies sections, or as files you can see.
Please comment here or reply to [email redacted by mod] so we could Skype.
Sincerely,
Good Ole Me
P.S. I’d look forward to writing your stories if you like this idea!

I have an idea guys, and it may seem crazy, but it’s something I really want to do. I want to write community based lore.

My Introduction:
So I’m relatively new to Guild Wars 2. I’m just your average joe that likes playing video games. I love the gameplay. But more important than anything else, I love the community in Guild Wars 2.
I’ll be kitten ed if I don’t think that I’m privileged to be in such a community. That’s something that makes Guild Wars 2 so valuable and well-worth it’s price of admission if not three-times over its price model.
Now saying that, there’s something I do want to achieve with this game. I’m wondering if people would like to sponsor me on this. Give an opinion. Shut it down. Tell me I’m stupid. I’m fine with that! I just want to try this out.
Now exactly what is it that I want to do?

How I want to work for this?
Dream: Introduction

Now onto WHY I posted this Topic Title. I have a certain fascination with Guild Wars 2 that makes me wonder “what-if” scenarios. This “what-if” scenario is me being obscenely rich in this game or having a legendary or two. Now don’t condemn me immediately, hear me out.
Now I know that in order to get to these legendaries or having obscene amounts of money there’s a degree of fun and large degree of grinding to get there. We all know that getting your legendary, if done through channels of map completion, skill points and crafting is going to have quite a bit grinding no matter what. This is something I DON’T want to do and I DON’T have the time for. But I do have time for something else. This is where my proposal to the GW2 community comes into play. And I hope you like the idea I propose.
