i miss alliance battles
- I miss having a team and a role. Even playing with AI henchmen made it feel like I was doing things as a group. Whether you wanted to aid your teammates, disable enemies in subtle ways, or just straight-forward bashing them down the game would cater to your needs.
I miss being able to design my own builds on a system that allowed wide range of customization on per-character basis. Capturing new elite skills felt like I was making my character more flexible.
I miss the exploration where the map completion depended on actually visiting a place. Not every place was conveniently waypointed, you could actually get lost in the wilderness. Exploring for 100% map completion felt like adventuring.
I miss guild battles. Morale boosts, death penalty, skill cooldowns and alternate strategies made every game exciting. There was even ranking tables that told how well your guild was performing.
If there was another game like Guild Wars, I would buy it on the spot!
I also miss doing droks runs and tanking thousands of trolls with my warrior. This game was so unique.
May what they should do is make that game free to play and get their money off of the Guild Wars 1 shop. Being free to play would attract more people to an old game. I doubt they make much by selling the boxed games anymore.
That would be great. The game is already on steam. They could make it free (+microtransactions) with the premise that they would keep adding new content.

How about Crowd Funding to update GW1 and its expansions to GW2 engine?
How much would such a move cost?
It would cost a lot because they would have to redesign everything to adapt GW1 content to GW2 engine. Also, it wouldn’t be GW1 anymore. GW1 was unique in the way it was… it’s a shame that GW2 isn’t the true GW1 successor. They completely changed the formula from an unique epic CORPG to a standard MMORPG…
The only way to revive GW1 is to create new expansions and provide new content, in the same way Blizzard does for WoW. That’s why WoW is still alive. ANet should have never abandoned GW1 in the first place…
GW1 was amazing game but its time to move on man:-)
Yes. I gave that game a good 7 years of my life. Among the best games of all time in my opinion, but alas I have played it enough.
The only way to perfectly end GW1’s reign is to give us the option to install the game on our computers to play offline even after ArenaNet finally shuts down GW1’s servers, with the option of doing LAN parties to play with friends in real life. Not going to happen, I know, but I think that would be awesome.
If they give us the server, we could run it in localhost and play the game in offline mode. That would be awesome, but I don’t think they will do that.
