I pre-ordered GW2 with no prior Guild Wars experience. Since then GW1 vets have been demanding guild halls. From what I’ve heard, i don’t think they really have a place in GW2. What am i missing?

There seems to be an important function missing in all the posts here, since most GvGers from GW1 have moved to other games. And that function is GvG. The Guildhall was also used to battle against another guild. The guild with the lowest rank was host for the GvG so they had the advantage of ‘home’ play on their map choice.

And yeah, since there’s no GvG with ladders etc in GW2 it’s pointless in GW2.

Aaaaaaand here we go again…
Since this morning. Same thing. Standard FPS is 15, in WvW 5. Slide show. Nothing helps. I hope this doesn’t take 5 weeks like last time for ANet to fix it.

When I bought the game I was looking very much forward to doing some GvG.
Now 18 months later I think I have to accept that GW2 will never be the game I was looking for when I made the purchase.

^^ This. I accepted it a lot earlier though. I still had some inkling of hope when they announced the new map, EotM. But that didn’t turn out to be what I had hoped for.

Yeah, we got OS. OS and the whole GvG scene reminds me a lot of local village soccer tournaments. A farmer puts the cows in the stable to free up a meadow, you plunk down some buckets to use as goal posts and you invite the neighboring village’s soccer team to play against. A handful of people come to watch, and the local baking wonder sells some cookies and lemonade on a camping table.

How different GW1 GvG was…

I wish you good luck with the proposal and the ideas, however. Hopefully for you guys something good comes out of it.

Short answer: I would suggest looking at the ranking. Anything upper and mid silver league (rank 9-15) would be a choice. It fluctuates quite a bit because of transfers.

Ok, getting back to this…
Since two days, the problems magically disappeared. I didn’t do anything different or new. But now some guildies have problems.
My readings were just fine btw. Don’t know whether they were when I actually had the problems though. It’s all a bit of a mystery.

I am experiencing sudden FPS drops since one of the Tuesday patches. I think it’s 4 weeks ago.

What happens:

My FPS is around 40, but every 10-15 minutes, my FPS suddenly drops to 5-6. Anywhere. In dungeons, WvW…doesn’t matter where I am. The FPS keeps going at 5-6 FPS for about 8-10 seconds and then it suddenly shoots back up to the normal 40.

Prior to the patch, I had no problems. I have not installed anything new, not running anything new in the background. My Internet speed is 200 Mb/s and I don’t have any troubles: I can even stream HD quality movies without any sudden drops in performance. So it’s not my ISP either.

What I tried:

- completely removing and reinstalling the GW2 client
- checking if all the drivers are up to date. Turned out my video drivers needed an update, but it didn’t solve the problem
- tinkering around with the settings in all different ways, shapes and sizes, but that never was the problem to begin with, since I ran GW2 fine prior to that particular update
- wait for 2 updates in the hope it gets fixed. I heard some people who had just waited, and then suddenly one of the patches solved the problem

It’s been 4 weeks, several hours of tinkering, and not having fun playing because of these weird lags. Anyone out there having at least the same problem, or anyone who can help me?

Same. Have been running fine for months, haven’t changed anything, but ever since the last big patch I’m experiencing problems. I checked and all drivers were updated, my Internet connection is just fine, my system is running smoothly with anything else.

It has become almost unplayable for me, except in areas with no people. It seems to be some problem that is related to loading/displaying character models?
