Hey boys and girls.

I used to play mesmer exclusively and i love it. i quit the game around 3 months after hot…because i got bored. So i came back and i heard about the fractal revamp and new raids coming out. I have all ascended berserker gear but that’s obviously not good for raids annd high level fractals. So my question is what type of gear + runes do i need for raids? thanks.

Always thought that clones should be as they are now (for shattering) and phantasms should be utility illusions that didn’t count for the illusion counter. Like the shield phantasm could create a bubble on cast location for “x” seconds and disappear. theres lots of creative stuff they can come up with that would improve the quality of life for mesmers AND would make it easier to balance. But hey, at least when we beat someone in 1v1 they can’t really call it luck because we have to practically foresee the future to win a match.

What bugs me most is that the Chronomancer is simply stronger than the Mesmer. The base traitlines and skills (looking at you – pesky mantras >_>) need to be onpair with the Chronomancers.

Therefore I doubt we will ever see a Mesmer again in HoT. I almost can’t think of situations where the Mesmer would be stronger than the Chronomancer. F5 alone is too good to be not taken.

In my opinion chronomancer isn’t the problem, mesmer is. The game with such a playerbase and such an amazing world being balanced mostly around pvp, is a pretty fail idea IMO. The fact that core professions havent undergone major changes during the last years is really surprising. Let’s take mesmer for example. The mesmer’s DPS is mostly reflects and phantasms. Shifting a great portion of damage to AI, a crappy AI tbh, is pretty bad. It works Okay’ish in the pvp environment where you “brainlessly” spam clones and press F1 F3, yawn, repeat. But when it comes to PVE, well we all know what happens to clones and phantasms (RIP). I’ve been maining mesmer for around 2 years now having around 2k hours on mesmer only and well, sometimes the game gets really frustrating because if i use my core mechanic in fractals or dungeons (unless its to finish the boss) i instantly get called noob,scrub,etc. The idea of clones to confuse your opponents and shattering them for damage is pretty kitten good in my opinion but what ruins it are phantasms. What phantasms could’ve been, or should’ve been is like personal utility skills, for example, iWarden. You cast the skill, a phantasm appears and puts a bubble on the spawning point that absorbs projectiles and reflects when traited. After 5 secs of reflecting he vanishes. Has no hp bar and doesn’t die instantly to AoE cleaves. Another example iSwordsman. You cast him, he runs after the ooponent, does his jump animation and applies slow and weakness (or something), then disappears. iWarlock, instead of damaging the opponent, hits you with the bouncy attack and gives you and the allies who it bounces to might or fury or protection or w/e. There’s point to bring these out and they aren’t dead as soon as you spawn them. On the pvp side of things, they’re just as useful as on the pve side of things. I guess this would require some trait rework but hey, we’ve had Shattered Strenght redone which “broke the game”. Anyway, on the chronomancer side of things, yes the class feels strong and niche, but my biggest concern are the Chronophantasma nerfs (most likely ICD) that we will most likely get due to QQ and whatnot. The other thing is that we will stop being Time Warp and portal bots and will become alacrity bots. Seriously some wells feel rather weak but personally i would probably run them anyway in most PvE situations just because they dish out AoE alacrity, and being able to double cast them with F5 encourages you to take wells wether you like it or not.

So this is my take on the whole, mesmer/chrono deal.

So what’s the general thought on the class after the beta weekend. There’s been a lot of crying from behalf of the community that chronomancer is way too op, others say it’s still undertuned. So in general, what are we expecting? some well changes and the block/ avenger changes or just a hands down nerf on traits, alacrity access and clone/phantasm generation?

a combination of red, evening red and black dyes, though shadow abyss looks better, might buy it for the look :p

I know I am, and Mesmer will probably have another GM trait that doesnt work against that class. It’s in Anet’s best intention to completely screw over the Mesmer in favor of another class.

I’m generally (along with Pyro, of course) one of the first folk to say that ANet’s folk have minimal-to-no clue how to balance Mesmer. However, there’s a world of difference between:

  1. cluelessness.
    and
  2. directly jerking folk around.

I absolutely believe in the first. Indeed, I’m been convinced for months that the team who designed the professions is not the same team that currently balances them.
However, it’s not (logically) in ANet’s interest to deliberately torque off any profession’s playerbase. After all, they want folk spending money. Ticked-off folk spend less money, if any. (Although, certain things in game do make a fair counter to my argument; for example, Engineers and Hobosacks …)

Lol i still remember the Stattered Strenght buff, after which the devs apologized to the community for breaking the game, though no one apologized for breaking our class

that’s kinda my point…with the staff which in my opinion is one of if not the best defensive weapon in the game and already having focus as an offhand why the hell would i want a shield? if anything id prefer a dual pistol. Hopefully, and i say HOPEFULLY they wont pull another crap like ranged GS and make it something like mainhand shield. IF it’s an offhand weapon what they could do to compensate is, besides tweaking existing skills, remove the phantasm casting skills and put something VIABLE instead. In the beginning phantasms and clones got nerfed to the ground because “The AI had too much damage output” (clones used to cast BF). Considering that to use our “burst” we need to spend some good 8seconds casting phantasms, spending trait points into clone generating or even dodging without necessity in order to use the skills… Now 8 seconds is quite a lot and most of the time, in PvE, the mob doesnt even last that long unless its a boss and half the time your 1st clone dies. In PvP you basically have to waste dodges to set your burst up which is easily dodged and then you’re basically screwed because you just used your dodges to make clones…oh well

I am a fairy new player to the game but i intend to become a hardcore player, the only missing thing is company because let’s face it, it becomes pretty boring playing and grinding alone, thus i’m looking for an english speaking guild who likes to pvp/ dungeon/ fractals and all that stuff.

they could do a mechanic like tequatl to every boss not going there standing afk for 5mins and come back to collect the loot. alternatively they could add difficulty levels to dungeons

I feel like most world bosses like behemoth and the shatterer are really boring to do…you just lock in your autoatacck target whoever and go afk for 5mins. Same thing in dungeons. The effect and the mechanics are cool but most of it is boring as hell and something like the enrage mechanic where the afore mentioned world boss would wipe people like flies. It would actually feel like you’re fighting a huge

Hey guys i’m planning on crafting myself some ascended armor but my question is, are berserker stats better than assassin’s on mesmer? i’ve head lot’s of people saying that assassin’s is better but also heards otherwise. advice?
