http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/warhammer-online-closing-63-servers

Last 2 games that i can remember that have local oceanic server.
24.6 millions population, a country associated with subpar broadband/internet and pathetic implementation of NBN.
Bottom line, not worth investing in. There aren’t many oceanic players around anymore these days to warrant a local dedicated server.
And any future mmorpg should not ever consider to open a dedicated server here too. It’s not worth while given the history and the size of the market.

Blizzard found it lucrative enough to set up servers in Sydney for WoW and Overwatch; I get 21ms from Brisbane. I agree our internet is extremely bad, even Mexico has better net than us.

If companies invested in setting up servers in Australia I believe they would see an influx of OCX/SEA coming to their games simply because the titles that were previously unplayable due to latency would be playable.

WvW lifer looking for Raid advice

in Necromancer

I’m a WvW lifer only appearing in PvE to do holiday events and living story stuff. I’ve done maybe 4 fractals when they very first came out and started playing WoW (yeah, I know, it is what it is) shortly after raids were introduced; maybe… I think…

I keep reading that current raid environment meta is Condi Ele/Teef, with Necro’s being pushed to the bottom of the pack (as per usual).

So, the question to my fellow Necro brethren is: What’s the viability of Necro in Raids and should I dust off my Ele or Teef to start seriously raiding?

Note: I don’t mind playing another class for PvE (hell, I’ll play Mesmer if I have to ha!) since I’ll always main Necro in WvW.

Access Denied [DENY] is a small PvX/WvW guild currently recruiting* active, dedicated, and self-motivated players who foster an interest in forging a family tight unit.

New and returning players to the game are strongly encouraged to apply.

Overview

Region — PST/GMT/AEST Zones
WvW Server — Sea of Sorrows (NA)
Prime Time — OCX/NA/EU
Comms — Discord
Age — Minimum 18+
Websitehttp://denied-access.net

Our goal in GW2 is to have fun and play as a team, continuing to beat new challenges implemented by the developers. We don’t enter into flame wars on public forums. We don’t brag about content completed. We don’t race other Guilds to be the first to overcome a collection of pixels at the expense of our members. We maintain our belief in the team first, members first, friends first, whilst still advancing through end game content and having a lot of fun whilst doing so.

We will never aim to be the biggest guild, in fact, we will stop recruiting at 100. Why? Because we actively discourage cliques and believe that everyone is as important as each other. You will never be just another number lost in a massive roster; you have a voice, and it will be heard.

World vs World Mission Statement

Our goal is to be a force to be reckoned with out on the battlefield. Open field engagements, tower/keep sieges and defenses. Fostering a strong coordinated presence is our main priority in WvW, so good communication is key. We don’t believe that large numbers always means success, but rather small parties working within a larger party with predefined goals + an overall goal = success.

We will have a hard cap of 30 members in our Small Ops squad, with a soft cap of 20; recruiting will stop and all applications for havoc spots will be rejected once the hard cap is reached. We move as a tight-knit team with a heavy focus on fostering a family typed unit. Our ethos applies heavily here: Quality over quantity.

PvE Mission Statement

From Fractals, personal stories, and explorable dungeons, to dragons, and world map completions, with everything in-between. As much as we want to create a large presence on the PvP stage, we also understand the sheer importance of PvE; not to mention it’s fun! We will fully support all PvE content with the creation of static groups, timed runs, and general guild runs – Never will you have to pug again.

In Access Denied we strongly believe in quality over quantity when it comes to our members. Representing the Guild whilst on guild runs and in World vs World is a given. We’re looking for like-minded people with a voice to help us grow. We are organised, and committed to the enjoyment of each and every one of our members.

Ideal Members

  • Fun Atmosphere. This isn’t a job. At the end of the day, gaming is about having fun and enjoying yourself, no matter what level you play at.
  • Self-motivated. You should always be willing to better and improve yourself. You should want to learn everything about the professions you play and be willing to apply that knowledge and adapt to the situation at hand. You’re not afraid to ask for help or guidance but are not so needy as to expect everyone to teach you everything.
  • Elitism and Loners. Elitists, and/or those boasting about how much better they are than others or people who keep to themselves, don’t join in on guild activities, or represent at least 70% of the time, need not join. We have skilled players with hardcore PvPvE backgrounds, but we don’t need to rub it in. We want members who promote a healthy atmosphere and are willing to help each other out, be a team player, and be able to listen and give/take constructive feedback. Every member of our Guild has a voice, and the doors of our dedicated officers are always open.
  • Maturity and respect demonstrability. Due to the mature nature of conversations (use of loose language etc.), we have set a minimum age of 18; no exceptions. We have a zero tolerance policy to drama and will stomp it out as soon as it starts. Anything promoting a negative atmosphere is not tolerated.
  • The ability to hear/have a working mic. We use Discord. We’re a very social group and expect new members to involve themselves and get to know us. In PvP/WvW it is essential to be able to communicate with your party leader/squad members; in Dungeon/Fractal runs, it is as important to be able to communicate with your party. You are not required to always be on, though. Many of us don’t work long days just to have ourselves bound by headphones all night.

Access Denied originally forged its name in Aion where we continuously placed in the top 3 North American server ranked legion list. We had an extremely heavy focus on highly coordinated PvP with static teams lead by team leaders and a strong group of officers. I have since moved on from Aion and now back playing GW2 for the WvW content.

Any decent WvW servers for defenders?

in Looking for...

Posted by: necromancin.2396

necromancin.2396

Most of SoS defenders are problably from NSP… We don’t call them NSPPT for nothing. They sure hug those towers and keeps as if their lives depended on it.

No, you’re confusing SoS/NSP with SBI. All SBI does is cap, and sit in their towers. When they do come out to fight, which is usually 2 squads worth against our 30 or so people (SoS), they wipe once and then spend the entire time siege humping, refusing to come out.

If you want a challenge, come to SoS. We have a couple of good commanders that fill both NA and OCX time slots.

WvW Build Help

in Guardian

Posted by: necromancin.2396

necromancin.2396

I’m looking at zerg play builds. I’ve heard of two viable options: DH and Cleric.

My play style is run in balls deep, roflstomp as many as possible whilst giving decent support to my group (mainly via boons, healing is secondary for me since I run with amazing Ele’s). I’ve had a look at Metabattle and find the builds there a tad lacking, especially the DH Frontliner.

Armed with the above, can anyone suggest a build that may suit my play style/needs? Maybe you’re a commander, if so, what would you like to see running beside you?

Any constructive feedback is welcomed!

Happy killin’!

Oh, I think a Guardian wielding a LB is an abomination; I guess if it’s meta, it’s meta.

Sup sup.

I’ve recently returned after a year or more off and was wondering, with all these new specialisations, which out of the following three (3) classes do you personally believe is strongest in PvE, either pure DPS or hybrid (DPS/Utility), and why?:

  • Ranger
  • Engineer
  • Warrior

Any views would be greatly appreciated!

WvW - Rev vs Guard

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: necromancin.2396

necromancin.2396

So it’s been a fair while since I played, right around when EotM came out I stopped playing. Jumping back into it has my head swimming with all the new stuff – and the amount of dorito’s running around a map who don’t know how to actually communicate and lead a party (now squad; fantastic feature), is mind boggling; long gone are the days of Luvpie. RIP.

Anyway, my question is to the WvW lifers: What do you like to have in your party, Rev or Guardian, in either a zerg or havoc group situation and why?

I don’t particularly want to read the normal ‘whatever you feel like playing’, because I like both.

Thanks in advance for the replies!

What are the best PvE and WvW Rev builds for the current meta?

I’ve not played since mid last year, so I’m well out of the loop. Currently running the following:

http://goo.gl/JZM1mJ

It has served me well in PvE (never got to WvW) when HoT first launched, but I was wondering if the build I’m running is still viable? If not, could someone give me advice on the current meta build, either DPS or Hybrid? Hell, even a heal spec would be fine.

Cheers.

Current meta build can be found here .
Viability is subjective but if your question is if the meta build significantly better for the game mode they are made for the answer is yes.

Thank you for the reply, and for the link to that website, but the information contained on it is out of date; mostly all of them are around 72 days old. Is this information still correct?

Your opinion on commanders?

in WvW

Posted by: necromancin.2396

necromancin.2396

I’ve run with a mix of good and horrible Commanders. Some people have more money than sense. What I would really like to see introduced into the game (this has been said many times before) is the introduction of two different types of Commander pins; PvE and WvW so we can distinguish the two.

Also, make the WvW pin ascertainable only via a ranking achievement and by completing certain perquisites. I.e. Rank 100+, 5k badges of honour, maxing 3-5 WvW achievements (tiered), and 100g. This will ensure that people who really want to command will have, at the very least, intermediate knowledge of the workings of WvW. I’m tired of running around with a PvE Queen that lacks tact and is only there for the Karma.

Look, we appreciate that crap like this happens from time to time, but having a large chunk of time tick by (I’m lvl 80 in end game gear already), why not remedy the problem by allowing those who want to move on to be credited with having done this particular step in the story? Surely it isn’t beyond a GM’s ability to make this happen. This way you have happy players and are able to work on the problem without the constant QQ.

Dear Cezton.2415

+1 to you my friend your correct, this game suxs donkey crap… For me its a time toilet till something good comes out. Because games today are sooo fing bad, I am tempted to stop playing any mmo’s all together. FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER in history guru3d and game spot have made post’s and video about games of today being tooo dumbed down. This is a rising issue for vets that have had years to hone their gaming skills. As a true reality it is becoming, video games arnt going to be the same any more. A good mmo needs grind, thats what they were about. Take away that element and you got games like this. 3 weeks 4 hours aday = done, I have nothing left to do. Games of today are focusing tooo much on new generations of players and forgetting about the vets. OR maybe people are just lazy as hell now and dont want to work for anything.

As an example to how fail this game is, myself and my friend have grinded to lvl 68 with out using any armor or accessories. WHAT game out there, lets u grind almost to end game with out using any armor?? its unreal… this game is a amusement park, not a mmo.

In 2006 Cabal online came out, the only game I have seen where u could run a dungeon 10000 + times and have maybe 0.5% chance to get a forcium drop or a cape. Games like that arnt made any more, its all about “hand holding now”

Nekro's build's for PVE

in Necromancer

Posted by: necromancin.2396

necromancin.2396

A lot of people have been asking for it and, for those that did, this post is for you. Here’s the 3 main trees:

Control/PVP/Support

*CONTROL
PvE Control focused Necromancer

*Stat Priority
Vitality >= Toughness > Boon Duration > Condition Duration > Power

This build maximizes your survivability and defensive capabilities so that you can help control the battlefield. Axe + Warhorn and Staff weapons apply several Daze, Chill, and Cripple conditions allowing you to control damage and movement. Your Spectral skills provide Protection boons to keep you in the fight. This build relies on entering Death Shroud to soak damage with your Life Force instead of your Health.

Points in the Death Magic, Blood Magic, and Soul Reaping trait lines boost the preferred stats for this build while unlocking key traits including Reaper’s Protection, Spectral Mastery, and Foot in the Grave.

-Traits

0 Spite / 0 Curses / 30 Death Magic / 10 Blood Magic / 30 Soul Reaping

-Skill

Consume Conditions / Spectral grasp / spectral wall / Spectral Armor / Lich Form

-Weapons

Axe / Focus / Staff

*DPS PVE Build

This build maximizes your offensive capabilities so that you can kill as quickly and efficiently as possible. Scepter + Dagger provide consistent Bleeding for single target damage and the Staff provides strong AoE utility. This build benefits from regularly entering Death Shroud to stack Might boons.

Points in the Spite, Curses, and Soul Reaping trait lines boost the preferred stats for this build while unlocking key traits including Reaper’s Might and Hemophilia. Explosives is picked up for passive Burning procs from Vital Persistence.

*Stat Priority
Condition Damage = Precision > Condition Duration > Critical Damage = Power

- Traits
30 points Spite / 30 points Curses / 0 death magic / 0 blood magic / 10 soul Reaping

-Skills
Well of blood / Epidemic / blood is power / Poison cloud / Plague

-Weapons
Dagger / Dagger or Scepter / Dagger

Runes: 3x Superior Rune of the Afflicted 3x Superior Rune of the the Krait

Scepter + Dagger
Superior Sigil of Earth + Superior Sigil of Geomancy

*SUPPORT PVE

This build maximizes your support capabilities so that you can heal and buff all those around you. The Staff and Scepter + Focus are strong Support weapons and provide access to Regeneration boons as well as several control oriented conditions (Chill, Fear, Cripple, etc). Wells provide the majority of your Support by providing combo fields, healing, Blinds, and condition removal. This build uses Death Shroud to provide healing and support.

Points in the Spite, Death Magic, Blood Magic, and Soul Reaping trait lines boost the preferred stats for this build while unlocking key traits including Ritual Mastery, Staff Mastery, and Path of Midnight.

*Stat Priority
Boon Duration > Healing Power == Condition Duration > Condition Damage

-Traits

10 Spite / 0 Curses / 20 Death Magic / 30 Blood Magic / 10 Soul Reaping

Honestly though, I wouldn’t even bother using a staff if your’re looking for survival. If a creep/player dodges or misses your marks, you’re screwed. It does less dmg than say dagger/dagger or scepter/dagger. It’s meant for minion/range builds hence its trait offers boon duration/toughness.
