You’re definitely on the right track. Your build link isn’t working for me, but I can visualize what you’re getting at regardless. My only suggestion would be to make sure you have sufficient toughness and vitality. We don’t have the burst to murder someone before they can respond, so we need to be able to last for long enough to get our spells out and start the Death Shroud/ Plague Form dance to keep our health bars full. I would prioritize toughness over vitality, because we have plenty of health as it is.

Ya the longetivity thing was what I was going for with celestial and divinity gear, since it has toughness, vitality, and healing power while still giving me some of all 3 damage stats which I’ll benefit from each of. I could for example do just power/toughness/healing power or something but then I lose some of my health pool and crit/condition damage. Though maybe that’s worth it for bigger hitting wells. Maybe a little more defense could be gained by picking a different armor rune set like one that can proc boons/healing and/or stack toughness.

The build link should work if you highlight it and copy paste, don’t know why the auto-made hyperlink doesn’t work.

Working on a well/staff build for sPvP. The goal is to do well in small group fights and control the battlefield with AoE and conditions. Not really sure what to do for gear and some of my traits or even my secondary weapon set. Here’s what I have so far.

Key traits:

  • Focused Rituals: Have to be able to put my wells where I need them.
  • Chilling Darkness: Turns well of Darkness into a snare which is important for keeping enemies in my wells.
  • Staff Mastery: 20% more mark spam.
  • Ritual Mastery: 20% more well spam.

Key skills:

  • Staff Skills: AoE conditions/damage to compliment wells.
  • Well of Suffering: Big damage.
  • Well of Corruption: Damage and stripping/debuffing.
  • Well of Darkness: Damage mitigation with blind, snare with chill.

Now what to do with everything else? This is what I want suggestions on, I’m not confident in my choices here but here’s what I chose and why.

  • 20 blood magic for spiteful marks, extra power, and extra condition duration (specially for chill duration).
  • Pick up spiteful spirit for a little more survivability and transfusion for group support with undecided trait slots.
  • Plague elite skill for great battlefield control and some extra survivability. Chilling darkness doesn’t seem to work with the blind plague though. Maybe flesh golem would be nice to knock enemies down in well stacks.
  • Well of Blood as healing skill since the cooldown will be better and with a little healing power the tick healing is actually decent (if you target it away from you, you still get the personal healing).
  • Scepter secondary for wearing down single targets and AoE cripple.
  • Dagger OH secondary for condition transfering and AoE weakness.
  • Force weapon runes cause extra damage is always nice.
  • Divinity and Celestial gear because every stat seems to help me in a decent way. I definitely want to switch the divinity gear but I kind of like the celestial.
  • No idea what to do for underwater skills since obviously I can’t use wells or the staff.

Well selection a bit..lacking?

Also, the trait to make them siphon does such little damage that it’s useless.
