hello,
first of all I sincerely admire the decision to post such news in the forums during a certain toxicity in the community. While these are quite sad news I do agree with the this decision, as new legendary weapons only add a cosmetic value in the game and LWS3 will provide more content in regards to the story and possibly playable areas which are the main criticisms of HoT. I’ve been a huge fan of this series (since the original GW) and I would like it to succeed, therefore, I want to share my opinion on the matter. I believe that the huge backlash from the community from this decision comes from the promise of more content on a particular aspect which is now gone and replaced with the promise of something unknown. However to rationalize the issue I personally believe more story and more explorable areas will add much more value to the HoT price than new legendary weapons since we already got the precursor collections and thus we could start working on legendaries that were inaccessible previously. Now on the other side of the coin many people might have been excited with the new legendaries as some of the existing ones may not be particularly appealing to some such as the legendary mace. Despite this criticism someone has to bare in mind that if developers spent more time in new legendary weapons, which not everyone will eventually craft, and less time in up-coming expansions or quarterly patches then we will be in a situation were the community complains of a lack of content such as in the case of the HoT expansion, which at the end of the day is much more damaging. I understand that these are my personal opinions and I don’t expect everyone to agree therefore I would like to suggest two options for the legendary problem since the major issue the developers seem to have is with there collections:

1. Add new legendary weapons without a precursor collection.
I’ll be honest, I don’t like this solution but it will allow players who really care about the aesthetics of their legendary weapons to get an alternative option thru the mystic forge

2. Re-use the existing legendary precursor collections to craft alternative weapons of a pre-designed legendary. Now I am not talking about re-skins but designing legendary weapons based on existing themes. For example since HoT is based heavily on the jungle what better excuse to have to design a set of legendary weapons baring a nature theme. These weapons would share the same collection as with the legendary bow kudzu and once the collection is completed the player could chose to transform the longbow precursor to a sword for example. I for example would love to have a legendary staff based on astralaria! Now there are two criticisms to this solution first the issue of some players having to wait until there favorite legendary theme to arrive and second that some of the excising collections are be a bit broken. On defense to the second criticism Arenanet already stated that they will be fixing the existing collections.

Again these are personal opinions therefore I would love to hear other opinions. Now on the last aspect of this backlash that Arenanet fails to meet their promises, well hostility in the forums doesn’t really help and also development does take time as I would rather have more quality than quantity. That been said I do value constructive criticism although I would hate if this hostility ends up destroying the recent transparency from the developers. I know this is a lengthy response but I would appreciate if anyone reads it and give me their thought.

regards,
a fan of the franchise

personally I think the developers are making a bluff with the vission making us believe there is something to do with glints baby or kralkatorrik. Maybe the vision could be telling us that modremoth found the bloodstone in the maguma jungle and devours it thus fully rising from his sleep, or maybe (and I’m making a bit of a bold claim here) the pale tree is showing us future even making us prevent the capture of the bloodstone by modremoth. It could also make for a fun new dungeon!

thanks Arenanet *spoilers*

Though this update may not have been the best in terms of gameplay, in comparison to previous patches, I was really suppressed by the effort that was invested into the cinematics and the final instance. This patch though not perfect is a good example of how the living story should be done as it had open world gameplay and instance story that actually made me feel I was progressing with my character’s story. Furthermore where this patch really shines is the extremely well done music and the two last cinematics in particular the one with Marjory and Kasmeer. I only ask with living world season 2 to have more of such cinematics and more story instances and if you could make them permanent as an expantion of the personal story that would be great! So in short I truly believe the living story has become much better since its initial implementation and thus I would like to thank Arenanet for such a great addition in the game, in my opinion anyways.

As a huge fun of the original guild wars and its sequel I would like to share some ideas that I personally would like to see implemented in an upcoming monthly expansion. I will try to not mention ideas already posted such as party search, mounts exc. But I will suggest some new concepts that will help to make the game more diverse and also more personal.

1. So starting with mini-games and specially polymock I would love to see this implemented in a monthly expansion. My version of this mini-game however will not be as in the first game which tried to mimic pokemon but I would try to incorporate it as a strategy card game kinda like magic the gathering. Now just to clarify this, before people start to complain, I would prefer this system over having a 1v1 creature fight because it would add a further level of complexity and customization especially if certain compos are also implemented. Having a 1v1 creature fight type of polymock will promote the players to collect just the most powerful pieces and forget the rest. I personally would love to have a huge selection of creatures to chose were they all could make combination attacks with each other allowing me to customize my own unique strategy and motivating me to collect as many polymock pieces as I can.

2. I would also like to see order specific missions or quests be implemented as it would make my personal story choices count more and at the same time add more end game content for the players. For example for my main player I chosen the priory for my order as I hoped to uncover more information about some of the previous game mysteries however the only thing I got was some easter eggs. By adding several quests that would deal with such content it would make player choices stand out more and also build a connection of the players with their order. Now I understand that arenanet doesn’t like to block content for other player so another suggestion is to have some of these quests done in instances and the more significant and let’s say the cooler ones be done as dynamic events that are triggered only if a player has that particular quest, also by doing this arenanet would avoid having to go back to the traditional fetch quest system if they wanted to do something like this in the future. This system has a lot of potentials as new gameplay systems can be implemented, for example an idea for the order of the whispers mission you might be given a target that you have to take him down using stealth which could be provided in the form of potions that only work on the pve world

3. Finally I would love to see more personal story related dynamic events pop up into the world (well this is pretty much self explanatory)

I hoped you liked my ideas and I would love to hear your opinion on these.
