HOPE IV- Bugged Cores

7 months on and this is still an issue. Just killed the Stavemaster both on approach to the tower and inside the tower. No core.

Both of the other cores dropped first time for me, but no luck with Stavemaster.

4 attempts at beating this kitten mission.
1. Blighted Pale Tree disappears once I defeated her. Rift did not spawn.
2. Rift did not drag Blighted Pale Tree to it. It activated repeatedly, but did nothing.
3. Didn’t choose Caithe this time. Beat Canach and Eir without issue, but after beating Rytlock, the Rift did not work.
4. Same as #3. Rytlock just disappeared, Mordremoth remained invulnerable.

I give up.

Avoid Traps Achievement

I avoided the traps. No achievement.
I avoided the traps, then backtracked and triggered the 2nd set before the rendevous with Braham. No achievement.
I avoided the traps, the backtracked and triggered both sets of traps after the rendevous with Braham. No achievement.

I got kittened off, ran straight through all the traps, triggered both sets of them and skipped the mobs, killed the wolves and got the achievement.

So, lesson learned. To get the ‘Avoid the Traps’ achievement, don’t avoid the traps.

This seems to be an ongoing problem in communication in my opinion.
Everytime we get a new ‘currency’ type material for a limited duration event, we have no idea wether it’s going to be obtainable in the future or not.

Would it be a thought to get more clarity on this in general?

How about: if it’s a permanent currency, it gets added to the wallet. If it’s a temporary currency, it goes into your inventory bags. Then we’d know as soon as we obtained it.

I think there are 3 key things to take away from this:

1. Events should encourage cooperation and group play rather than selfishness. The Silverwastes is a perfect example of events done well – everyone who participated is rewarded when a boss is defeated in the Breach, and everyone on the map either wins or fails together. Doling out Blooms on an events-tagged-per-person basis encourages selfish play. Always assume the community will find the most efficient method of collecting loot, even if that means screwing each other over.

2. Rewards need to be reasonably achievable within the timeframe of an event. If it is shortlived, loot should be higher. If it’s longlived, loot can be lower.

3. Content needs to take target audience into account. If this was designed to introduce new F2P players to the Mordrem and events, the rewards shouldn’t cost lots of gold that new players don’t have access to. If it’s designed for level 80 characters, it shouldn’t feature easy to kill mobs in a low level area. Pick your audience and design accordingly.

Anet has always been pretty good about experimenting with new types of content, but sometimes that means things go wrong and just don’t work as intended. Sadly this was one of those times. Thanks for keeping us in the loop, Gaile.

I imagine this to be your mindset.

Right now, hands down, super banana is the most annoying kittening thing in my life. I hate it’s sound effect with a PASSION. It annoys me more than people that don’t use their turn signal. Or people that smoke in non-smoking areas. Or people that don’t know the difference between there, their, and they’re.

PLEASE add a slider to turn off the mini and backpack sounds. At least for other people. Or the head lines in my area may read, “man commits despicable acts of evil due to super banana induced insanity.”

I like you.

Please don’t listen to these crazy people asking to mute mini sounds. I love my ghost.

IF you don’t like the sound the mini makes, don’t equip the mini?

I don’t equip the minis. Other players do, which forces me to either put up with it, or sacrifice all other sound effects to avoid it. By all means, keep the mini noises!

Just give us an option to opt out of hearing it.

The SAB banana mini has, on multiple occasions since its introduction into the game, forced me to mute the game. I’m not even joking, it was so grating I flat out stopped playing for a week or so (I assumed it was a fad like the crow wings, and would be rare a week after release). It’s still a sound bite I have to listen to several times a minute whilst camped at any bank or TP. At this point, I’m willing to sacrifice all other sound effects just to avoid it. It bothers me that much. It’s just so, so annoying. PLEASE remove it, or diversify the sound options. It might sound petty, but it’s really ruining the game for me.

It hasn’t been ignored – there are some responses about removing hobo sack a few pages ago – i really hope they get rid of the hobosack in hot.

in the poi where they talked about adventures the war of the dev used a flamer kit without a hobosack and it was holstered on the back like a rifle…so yea lets hope thats the norm now for kits

If a fix is coming at all, the release of HoT is our best bet. It’s the perfect opportunity for ANet to run through the long list of low priority issues and fix them in one sweeping patch, ready for the influx of new players. If hobosacks are still around after HoT, we might as well give up hope.

And why do male humans have nipples again? To me, that’s the oversight! :P

All humans start off physiologically female, it’s only when the testes develop and start making testosterone that development switches from the default female setting to male. Nipples develop before testes, so guys get them too.

Apologies if this has been suggested before (also, I have no idea where to post a suggestion since apparently the forum has been shuffled to hell and back).

The gem store instruments are notoriously difficult to use, especially given the note cooldowns and inevitable latency lag.

Using macros is quite rightly disallowed.

So what about selling us an instrument that, when double clicked, opens up a menu with the ability to equip a series of notes of various lengths, or type in musical notations – something along those lines. With a preview button, and finally a play button which, when clicked, plays the song for others to hear then puts the instrument away.

Basically a legal, ingame harmless macro for those of us musically inclined.

Omadd cinematic showing orb activation order:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQGGytoNXk8&t=0m34s

There is a particular that I wanna point: when the sphere of the dragons start to fly around and before Mordy sphere jumps into the “core”, the others take different positions. Are these posiotion how much they are close to this “core” ?

Kralkatorrik was pretty close.

I imagine the current order of the orbs is just a cinematic happen-stance. The thing I was most interested in was the fact that the Scarlet’s vision featured Zhaitan, rather than the expected Mordremoth.

In the Wooden Potatoes video about the ‘Echoes of the Past’ teaser trailer, we see him talk about the roof of the Priory, and how the letters inscribed there correspond to the orbs seen in the Omadd’s Machine cinematic. It turns out that the green orb that crashed into the centre is labelled Z for Zhaitan, not M for Mordy. So it seems the Omadd cinematic showed Zhaitan’s defeat, not Mordremoth’s awakening.

I remember a bunch of threads disseminating the Omadd cinematic months ago, and thought it would be good to bring those old debates on the order of the orbs to a close.

Oh wow I just stumbled across this! I can’t even bear the thought of making an engineer simply for the reason of hobo sacks, as appearance is everything in this game.

… and then I activated the grenade kit and remembered why I haven’t been playing engineer.

With a lack of incentive to aim for cosmetic horizontal progression, less people play engineers. So they represent less of the player base. So they sink lower on the list of priorities. So the problem persists, and less people roll engineers.

One day a day may come when there are simply no more engineers. No more jumps in technology. Nobody to prevent the golem uprising, or protect the Black Citadel from the tyranny of Flame Legion heretical magics. In the ensuing choas, Elder Dragons will of course rampage unchecked, waypoints flickering out like candles in the wind. Cut off from foreign lands and friendly allies, besieged by their own, the races of Tyria will perish alone.

And when the Dragons have eaten their fill and return to slumber, only the undying Hobosack will remain, eternally awaiting the next cycle, a testament to our folly, a destroyer of worlds.

I think that what we saw is just a Sylvari’s version of the Eternal Alchemy, they’d naturally see the Pale Tree as the center of the world, with all other magical events playing out around it. Everything is connected together, but Scarlet’s frame of reference was herself (aka the Pale Tree). I think what we saw wasn’t the Eternal Alchemy from our own point of reference, but rather a record of what she saw played back to us (possibly as a result of hijacking the machine mid-playback).

It’d make sense since we’re backtracking through Scarlet’s journey in the LS. We even hear the Pale Tree and Scarlet’s voices in the background.

So everything in the cut-scene is seen through her eyes, essentially. I’d be curious what the Eternal Alchemy looks like to a Charr.

Why in the cinematic Mordremoth awakened (lighted up) sooner than Zhaitan????

This confused me too. I don’t think the order the orbs light up represent the order the dragons awoke (though it would make more sense if it did).

The orbs light up in the following order:
Red (Primordus) > Blue (Bubbles) > White (Jormag) >Green (Mordremoth) >Purple (Kralkatorrik) > Grey/Green (Zhaitan)

It’s the green (Mordremoth) orb that flies into the center.

The dragons, however, awoke in the following order:

Primordus (then back to sleep) > Jormag > Zhaitan > Bubbles? > Kralkatorrik >Mordremoth

The only way to reconcile the difference is if Bubbles awoke earlier than we thought (possible, since we don’t actually know, and are guessing based on when the Krait/Quaggan refugees rocked up in Tyria), and if the orb that flew into the center is actually Zhaitan, with Mordy still floating round the edge as the grey/green orb. Unlikely, I reckon)

I seem to remember someone at Anet saying they were looking into this, but that was months ago. I doubt anyone is bothering with this issue, what with the new season of the living story kicking off.

Don’t get me wrong – I loved LS S02E02, it was a fantastic patch through and through. But there’s always a twinge of disappointment when a new patch goes live and the notes don’t mention our hobosacks

I’m having a hard time believing this. It goes against everything that was supposed to make GW2 the new era in MMOs.

I’ve been spending all my ingame gold, and some real life cash for transmutation stones to buy/craft a set of exotic armour that looks just the way I like, and now this?

Power creep is the very last thing I was expecting. I really don’t have time to play a gear grind MMO. I never have. That’s why I chose GW2 in the first place!

Think I may have to take a break for a while, come back in a month or two and see if the madness has been nipped in the bud or not.
