3+yrs slowly completing my personal storyline & i get to what i asssume is the final cutscene..BAM, Crash :{{
so, i redo it a couple times.. finally get through the cutscene & what do i get .. my choice of a level 18 item..ARE YOU Kidding ME. you can’t even complete the personal story line quest chain without being lvl 80. what good is a lvl18 item @ max level. This was a HUGE slap in the face, thx for your money from A-net far as i’m concerned. That item is intended for your other toons, not the one completing the personal story. It’s level 18 with stats somewhat above the usual.
So, no, not a joke.
This is the truth right here. In other games it’s called twinking. You can look it up. It’s done in WoW all the time.
You twink your alts so they level faster.
i am very familiar with twinking out a toon, which would be impossible in this game. Twinking is giving/getting highest possible items for a character that is not going to be leveled higher than a certain bracket. Basically giving that character an advantage over other non-twinked players in the same bracket. (e.g.. a lvl 18 character, running gear with a stat level of 28). Since this game automatically adjusts your level while in PvP/WvW & the Pve content forces experience gain.. It is IMPOSSIBLE to “Twink” a character.
Lol, not to mention even in WoW, experience is forced even in the battlegrounds & has been this way for many years.
If you think this reward item is to help you level another character think again.
by the time you receive this reward…more than likely you’ll be able to create an item with the same or better stats using a previously leveled character & even if you couldn’t create it, you could find a comparable one on the trading post for next to nothing.
which really wouldn’t make a difference anyhow, because the item would be replaced within 1hour of game play via ingame rewards.
to all the others, saying "the crash is because i am playing on a “Mac” system".
LOL… now you’re joking. i have the game on multiple high-end gaming units with varied OSes. (win 7 ultimate 64, win XP 32bit, OS X mavericks & OS X Yosemite(mac os can be booted in 64 or 32bit modes).
Out of all the units, the Mac client has been more stable & crashes less than the “PC” version from the time A-net released the mac beta client.
so based on experience of playing the game from closed beta through current releases.
the most stable client is the Mac beta.
i understand the game can crash no matter which client is used.. i just found it comical; that it crashed on the final cutscene of the personal storyline.
and, yes.. given what i stated earlier .. the lvl 18 reward for completing a lvl 80 quest..
is a big ol’e disappointment from A-net.
my original post was not intended to sound like a gripe; but merely to show how disappointing the game can be at times.

i just created an account for my niece to play with me (no Hot) .. when it gets to the spot for the serial code..i just left it blank & filled in the rest & clicked accept. this worked fine & i received the email for account activation. she just made her 1st character & is playing
once you’ve created your account, you can then directly download the core game via “my account” tab

i’ve been working on my Dungeon Master achievement & was stuck on the Honor of the Waves dungeon. particularly P3 – Zealots path; no matter how many times i completed it, i would not get credit.
you’ll notice in the screenies, that:
Downing “Sorge the Zealot” completes the exploreable – Plunderer’s Path….
Downing “Wollam the Plunderer” completes the explorable – Zealot’s Path…
in short:
Butchers Path = P1
Plunderers Path = P3 (Sorge the Zealot)
Zealots Path = P2 (Wollam the Plunderer)
hopefully this helps others who can’t figure out why they’re not getting the credit
We are pretty confident these patching crashes have to do with 3rd party software (such as malware, antivirus, and proxies) hooking into the Winsock API.
This Microsoft KB article explains how to reset TCP/IP:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/299357Please let us know if this does not solve the problem.
This is the same generic response that was given when GW2 launched having the same issues (it took appx. 1-2 weeks for the game to be stable enough to play), only this time i fear it will take your team longer to resolve the issues & have the game/server stabilized enough for us to actually play for any length of time.
How can you be “pretty confident” ? … when probably 90% of your gaming community is having the same recurring issues that the original GW2 launch had; the assumption that for some odd reason your gaming communities computer systems are having these malware, anti-virus, proxy problems only after the release of H.o.T, seems “pretty far fetched”.
While your post may be of truth & helpful to some of your customers, it is false for the majority of us.
I am a 35+yr computer techie/programmer/game coder/3d modeler & graphic designer. I’ve run the game on 5 different computer systems (2-asus gaming laptops, 1-macbook pro, 1-asus gaming station & 1-mac station)…additionally i used multiple OS versions (Lion, Yosemite, Xp, Win7 ultimate, Win8). none of the systems have malware, anti-virus, proxy or firewalls in place. I even went as far as testing them @ multiple locations using varied isp connectivity types (dsl, fiber, cable).
To no avail, every other game i have & all internet based activities run without issue maintaining stabilized network connectivity. however from the time GW2 client connects to your servers & during gameplay, i see continuous latency spikes; dropping all the way to a stall @ 0.1KB/s downstream .
Rather than using a generic reply & passing the buck on what is more likely to be an issue on your companies end; which does not apply to most of the community & creates more issues for the people of this community who are not tech/computer savvy.
I can only speak for myself.. but, i feel it would appease a lot more of us with a simple “we’re are not quite sure as to what is causing the issues / we’ve identified the issues and are currently working our best to get everything up & running smoothly, as quick as possible”.
So i ask you this… are you still “pretty confident” about your reply?
also, as asked by another community member “Do you have any suggestions for those using the Mac client”??
I’m certain the other person & myself are not the only ones who have run it using the Mac client. but, if your reply is the same only with links to the apple-support forums.. then it probably wouldn’t help anyhow.
