I did not mention more guards or walls, but more durable guards and walls (I don’t want to add additional guards or walls).
For example: Usually 1 player don’t have problem to kill guards in camp, but if the defending server has 50% less people than the attacking server then raise the guards durability (defense, power) so you need 2-3 ppl to get the camp. Then also the guards iside towers should be stronger to help the team with less online people.
Another example with the walls: You need 30 hits with cata to open a wall, but if defending server has 50% less people than the attacking server the wall would need 60 hits with cata to open.
How you can open the tower east from Citadel without being spotted?
Both the towers near citadel are too close to waypoint, and there is no real chance to get them when you have less players than oponent.
Seems the balloons were not designed for these old maps, so maybe the maps can be adjusted…
The server linking is a good idea, but it still does not fix the problem. As I understand the server linking will happen only once per few monts, but many of the players will not wait months to be able to play a fair game. I would suggest to make some instant ballancing system.
For example:
- Change walls, guards, and siege durability based on actual numbers that play WvW.
(team with many players would have to deliver more damage to destroy wall, siege or guard)
- Remove balloons (for forever), or change the AOE to internal scanning only. It makes the towers almost invulnerable. If we have only few players, we need to do a fast and sealth attack, which is not possible with balloons active.
The original Desert borderlands were a little disarranged, however this was fixed by the map update. In my opinion the Desert maps are now much better than the Alpine maps.
+ The shrines are good idea. You can get stacks for your sigil here, and still add something small for WvW points, also provide bonus (invisibility, slowness)
+ The camp area is smaller so I can kill all the guards much faster.
+ It is a bigger map, so I have a better chance do do something when play alone.
How is the server population calculated?
Is it basded on something like maximum users logged into WvW per day, or is it like “man hours”?
Because I usually see 1:2 or 1:3 enemies, but according to these stats:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World
we should be equal with our enemies (both servers are full).
This is happening once or two times per day in WvW and also in PvE. Once I’m immobilized (with bolas for example) I can’t move until: downed, re-enter map, or transformed to something (via box o’ fun).
The immobilized spell expires and I don’t see in on me anymore, but still can’t run/walk, I can move only via spells (like Phase Retreat). Teleport to another waypoint does not help. I can teleport but still can’t move.
I only have this problem with mesmer, other characters seems to be OK. The problem started in the middle of December.
Maybe this has something to do with dodge, as I dodge really a lot with mesmer (but not 100% sure)
