As usual, week after week, I am having an absolute blast on SBI. What a great community, solid players, responsive and strong communicators. The fights last night were amazing, and you can bet solid money that the instant I get in the door after work, Rootling will be locked and loaded in, looking for the fight.

If you get in a fight, are you the kind of person that throws dirt? Would you use a stick or handy rock to win? How about a sucker punch to the throat or a swift kick in the junk? If not… why not? War isn’t a dance. It’s about winning, dominating, destroying opposition.

We get it on SBI. It’s points on the board, as fast as possible. Our honor is in how we treat each other – but how we treat YOU is to win, to dominate, to destroy. Not one of our commanders would let a weaker enemy get away with anything. The ground you are walking on is OURS, so if you want to keep it, you best pack a big lunch and bring your friends.

All trash talk aside – - I know I speak for no one else when I say I do deeply respect each and every server we’ve faced, in T1 or T2. Bad apples aside, the people that come out and fight are all my friends, regardless of what server they call home.

I just installed Windows 8, and am getting the same result here – it loads, displays Downloading 0kb of 0kb, then minimizes and won’t start.

Any ideas?

I really enjoy our community on SBI – we’re solid, we communicate well, and we’re determined. We’re also pretty consistent. Holding a T1 slot for so long (but not being #1) has helped us immensely.

We’re not hemorraging people who are looking for a better fight, and we’re not flooded with fame-seekers who are looking to be on the top server. We have a consistent, solid community and some really great leaders – but also a lot of thinkers as well.

This week was really exceptional, the action was furious, non-stop, and fun. Isle of Janthir and Jade Quarry both really brought their “A” game to the fight this week – thanks to everyone – on all servers – for making my week so epic!

Might be two problems. Culling (or whatever it is) as the original issue of draw distance / too many characters on screen to be seen, and the one I enjoyed last night, running around all night seeing nothing but pets and the occasional floating commander icon. I am glad my little hatchet bounces from player to player, it was my go-to skill for the night.

If they fixed the problem I had last night, but are still reviewing the change to culling we all need- well, it’s progress.

For what it’s worth, in regards to ‘culling’, I am firmly in the camp that says ‘my machine can handle it, so give me my own slider to control density, etc’… but I understand this has server-side ramifications as well.

The game was totally unplayable last night, so if that’s fixed, I am happiness and rainbows now.

If you are being hit for 2500-3500…you’re being hit by someone with better gear, prepare to die. If you’re being hit for 300 or so, game on!

In all seriousness, once I realized my sub-80 toon could make a difference with scouting, watching dolyaks, repairing, running supply, running siege, and participating in teamspeak (in a thoughtful, measured manner, describing numbers, direction of movement, and map locaton but keeping chatter to a minimum) I found myself not only having fun, but also contributing greatly to the effort.

Be prepared to die a lot, and if you do – retreat – don’t make a level 80 try to rez you in an arrow cart hotspot!

I saw an ET speed hacker / glitcher sort of toon as well, and some others saw it and talked about it in TS. Dude was twitching and glitching like lightning across the map. Literally faster than I could click on him, he was gone.

I was also in this keep, though a few hours earlier – I was attacked and killed from below, rezzed, ran up the wall and then watched the door being attacked over and over, for like 5 minutes – with no one outside the door.

Folks, this wasn’t a ‘game loading’ issue – I run GW2 like butter, on max settings. There wasn’t anyone near this keep at the time I was there – and the occasional treb fire we were taking at the time was minimal (wall was 90%, and easy to repair).

Definitely, 100% positive people were under the floor. Folks in teamspeak were admitting they know how to get down there, and that it’s easy to do. Now, I didn’t ask details, but the evidence in front of my eyes was pretty much impossible to ignore.

I couldn’t get a name – just that it was an ET ‘invader’. I was being hit by a water attack – though I didn’t get a screenshot.

MyDublin, did you see this while you were building flame rams all over SM, bragging about how you were burning through resources in chat? Yeah, that was a class act.

We have some good commanders on SBI, and when none of them are on, it’s really tough getting people to go anywhere and do anything. Lots of little groups, patrols, scouting and so on- but when one of our commanders logged on you could almost hear the collective server-wide sigh of relief that we had an icon to chase around. It’s not always a fail commander with that icon. At least one of our commanders I’ve been following for years in a couple of different games – and he’s kitten pro as all kitten. (kittens added for clarity, and entertainment – no kittens harmed during this post.)

Seems odd… SBI (and presumably HOD) have server queues up 24/7, you’d think we’re full up, right? We sure do have a lot of people logging in and then going AFK in the valley for hours on end. Moving little places here and there, but never going anywhere. Is it the same on HOD?
