Our Video!

We are an active guild with a membership based mainly in the Oceanic/Aus/NZ region. We have built a large community from a variety of gaming backgrounds since the guild’s formation. The guild was founded on the goal to build a long lasting, friendly, united gaming family, which we want to develop into a strong force amongst the wider GW2 community. Within our guild we have active mature respectful members who are keen to spend time joking, playing, and discussing GW2 with each other. Our website also has amazing features including an award/economy system, calendar, and media (articles, blogs, galleries, artwork, and videos) created by guild members.
Our gaming playstyle is PvX. We do a lot of PvE especially the dungeons and we also currently looking for more active players for WvW. Out of game we love to share jokes on TeamSpeak, discuss game related and other topics, and generally just be in each others company.
If you are an Oceanic/Aus/NZ player (or anyone who plays in our timezone) looking for a good home, look no further! We are looking for both Core and Casual members for the time being. We are looking for members who embody the following:
A mature, drama-free, and humor loving personality and an open mind.
A motivated, active, and contributing style on the forums, teamspeak and in game.
Age 18+ (unless joining with a parent)
Positively represent and promote the Downunder guild to the rest of the GW2 world
Be able to have FUN!
To join the Downunder community, please register to our website duguild.com or contact one of our officers in-game (Vesper Sovereign, Nightingale Hawkeye, Syaxe, Merodon and Vaulten).
We look forward to play with you soon!
Tiny insignificant historical event which is merely part of human history. It has nothing to do with the elder dragons, the Gods, charrs, norns, asura, sylvari, tengu, canthans, elonians, kodans, etc.
My understanding is “Guild Wars” was supposed to be GvG since it was the highlight of the original. It means nothing in GW2 since wars between the guilds are non-existant.

While on the topic, how about using ping reduction services such battleping, smoothping, etc? Can you be banned for this?
Just press the Exit button if you die in the bottom right. Make it a challenge yourself… I for one thank the checkpoint because we ran into a glitch, and wiping & checkpointing fixed it.
So in the process, I piss off 4 other players. Sure I’ll do that next time. Cheers for that!
I love when people act like they are “old school” and say a game shouldn’t reward people but should be painful. You aren’t even to tier 2 yet, why would it be hard? It’s like complaining the first level of mario is too easy… Get to level 2 newb.
Did you even read the first post? I’m at lvl 7 atm, I would like to see more challenge into it. Perhaps you should go back to pre-school and fix your reading comprehension.
Gaming in itself could be considered waste of time. I guess it’s a waste of time because you don’t get any rewards at the end knowing that you won’t be able to complete it. Gamers these days require rewards, easy achievements and time-efficient platform.
Meh, I guess I prefer old school gaming style where the characters in the games had limited lives. If I die too often, I have to restart. Also there wasn’t any rewards involved at the end because that’s whole point of gaming which these days have degenerated into kitten contest.
Pretty much what I’m suggesting that higher levels should provide a bit more challenge and punish mistakes. Currently, it is just “everybody is a winner, eventually” content.
Where you get the idea I keep checkpointing? I want it to be removed at higher levels to make it more challenging. I still see bad players at lvl 6 because they could get away with checkpointing. Perhaps it also affects me because if they all die then I have no choice to die in order to checkpoint.
I actually like the fotm but with the checkpoints it seems regardless how many times my party fails, we would finish it anyway. Maybe I am one of the few people who like challenge and fotm isn’t punishing enough. I want to learn from the mistakes we made but it seems everyone (myself included) keeps doing the same mistakes knowing that we can get away with the checkpoints. I only got up to level 7, I am just wondering if the checkpoints are removed at higher levels?
If they plan on release content they way they have been, that will keep me busy just fine. After lost islands is another December event. Then after that I am sure another content patch, ect ect.
Also I don’t have to pay a sub fee so I can play something else for a few weeks then come back!
Then why not just add the contents without the gear treadmill? That doesn’t address what I just said.
I know I am! And so are my friends who have gotten very board with Guild Wars 2 over the past few weeks!
For us our endgame has turned into nothing but Farming Orr for our legendary’s but now we have something new to work forward to AND a new area/dungeon to explore!
I have seen a lot of the knee jerk reactions posts of how much people can’t stand change so this thread is for people who are truly happy with the upcoming content and changes!
Thank You ArenaNet!!
So what do you do after you get the Ascended gear? Most hardcore players would have done it in a few weeks time (or even days) like they did to legendaries. Perhaps it takes 1-2 months for regular players. What’s next? Get bored again, quit the game, and wait for the next gear? Rinse and repeat.
The added dungeon is nice but Anet is so desperate to maintain the longevity of the game, they have to incorporate gear treadmill into it. This is a lazy attempt by the developers where they are incapable to add contents with high re-playability value …. you know the actual contents that are engaging, interesting and challenging where people would do it without being swayed with rewards at the end. Think of why people play FPS, RTS, etc over and over again with the same maps yet they play these games for years.
- Make the game actually challenging. They need to make the game less zerging (in PvE and WvW), emphasize skilful play.
- Add contents with high re-playability. More WvW maps perhaps with different objectives and dungeons with objectives other than kill stuff. Teamwork and coordination should be rewarded.
- Promote social interaction, this is MMO after all. We should have in-game guild recruitment, guild hall, alliance, etc. Even if the game is lacking content, given I have good companions, it makes up for it.
NO for me.
This is the beginning of Anet’s new direction. I feel betrayed because they are abandoning their philosophy. It may seem insignificant increase but Anet wants to gauge how far they can push the boundary. I don’t care whether it is +1 or +9999 stats increase, it is all about principles and Anet has thrown them away.
“Lets call A Team Arena B Hero Battles C Guild Battles and D Heros Accent”
Yea, again … those formats only involve 1 guild versus another (or few guilds), not a war of many guilds. Not that I’m against of those formats of course.
Yea, I miss that too. Though in this thread, I’m thinking of a large scale guild wars rather than one guild vs another.
First of all, I have been enjoying the game and I would to thank Anet for their effort in making such a great game. Particularly I like the idea of WvWvW but however it’s difficult for medium to large guilds to organise WvWvW events due to queue. Furthermore WvWvW also has become zergfest because many organised guilds can’t enter the game.
Perhaps Anet would consider in making a game mode that extends from the current WvWvW that allow guilds to enter the instances and battle out each other. The instances would be divided into several tiers to cater small, medium and large guilds (tier based on the number of participants from one guild). Each instance has its own objectives and purposes that contribute to overall progress of WvWvW.
For example, I’m thinking:
Instance A: 3-5 guild members required to enter
Instance B: 6-12 guild members required to enter
Instance C: 13-20 guild members required to enter
Instance 20+ guild members required to enter
Of course the numbers are not set in the stone but this is merely a concept design. Please note that I’m not trying to change WvWvW so that it hinders non-guild participants to join. I prefer the current WvWvW should be kept as it is. My idea is just a suggestion that may be worth considering if Anet wants to encourage people to band together into guilds and giving us purpose to achieve common goals.
Feel free to give inputs, cheers
