The meta was triple spirits.

It fell out of favor due to the lack of stunbreaks and the massive AOE spam from other classes, which kill the spirits too easily.

That being the case it is viable for some matchups but not others, and probably not a ranger’s best option.

I would probably trade keen edge for signet mastery, so that your only stunbreak has a shorter cooldown. Also trade vigorous renewal for shared anguish so that you have a second stunbreak.

Also I don’t see any point running settler without SotW and Natures Voice, so I would probably go celestial instead. You just can’t beat it atm.

You can also go with Mighty Swap, Battle Sigils, and Strength Runes if you want to stack might.

It is good build but i think that without spirits ranger in pvp dont have any good point.. and without team support it is useless for org. pvp, ESL.

Sooo I tried yesterday couple of ranger builds and my opinion is that condi builds are good, but I still love LB power I think that good power ranger in team (include ESL!) is very usefull for team. 6/6/0/2/0 with pack runes and assassins amulet.

Today was my first pvp day since pvp patch. Ive did about 15 games… from that was 4x 5:4/4:5 games and minimal 3 games with total newbies in team… all in RANKED arena… I dont have words. I was happy from new pvp patch, but it is worst than before. And choosing maps is joke too… coutryard 1 vote, and other two maps 4 and 5 and from 70% it choose that map with 1 vote… incredible. In last pvp today i asked my team which rank do you have? and they said: 80, 42, 17 and 35. I have 65 rank. I really dont understand this new pvp system. Please explain it to me.

I have simple question, did you see any interesting or strong builds for ranger in rankeds, ESL etc.? I know only about 1 ESL build any it was 2-3 spirits, shorbow/sword+dagger and traits for emphatic bond and spirits.

When you said in the other thread you relied on your team for condi removals, I thought they would actually remove your condis. I didn’t watch the video straight through, but I fast forwarded looking for ranger play and you needlessly died to condis a lot. Why not just swap one of your signets for SoR? You lose basically nothing and gain a LOT.

I know I didn’t get a lot of condi removal in those matches, but that’s because your team gotta focus on actually keeping you as a power ranger alive a lot more, which takes some time to get used to.
Stone signet saved me tons of times, and with signet of the hunt + wild I was able to win a lot of fights.
I might’ve survived a few other times with the SoR, but then I would’ve been missing one of my other signets and might’ve lost some of the fights that I won.

EDIT: I’m not saying it’s perfect or anything, my point is just that there’s potential for power ranger in competitive play.

And have you tried both builds (condi survival and power LB ranger) in tPvP(ESL)? Which is better? Or it depend at player skill and playstyle?

It is bad build… no condi re.

Why is better when qz have 2 condi rem. with 7s fury and shorter cooldown? And about SB … i just want any range weapon… and SB is awesome for stacking bleed.

I try this build about 3 days and I like it. I love LB/GS power ranger but by my opinion power ranger for tPvP (ESL) is a bad choice. I have one question. What do you think about this build. Is viable for tPvP(ESL)? If not, please tell me your opinions.

Ok, thank you for post and question… do you use piercing arrows? I using trait for range and velocity increase. They dont want mele for me at any cost, but when I dont want mele its hard to stay without hunt signet away from mele.

i start run wvw with my wvw guild (about 8-15 members at one moment). And I need some advices about build for it. Iam a sniper which killing casters etc. I tried classic build 6/6/2/0/0 with berserker trinkets armor and weapon with healing spring, signet of the stone, entagle, wild signet and zephyr but when I have to be in close combat…. I have 9s stabillity (without support from my guild mates) and 6s un. from stone signet.. and it is over. Do you think that…. for example change my armor from berserker to soldier is solution for this runs?

I meant to reply to your PM, got distracted by a tumbleweed, and it totally slipped my mind. =[ Your build is solid, but I’d recommend replacing Elasticity (Illusions VII) with Invigoration (VIII) so you can shatter more often, I think Invig will be a bigger boost to your damage, defense, and overall usefulness.

It can work, the issue with it is it has sword. Sword was bad in PvP to begin with, with this nerf it’s almost 100% useless.
You have GS which is a good weapon to use for PvP, then sword and torch:
Sword
Autoattack – you never use it, it’s a good autoattack but you go in melee range in PvP and autoattack, you will take so much damage, you’re squishy, you get hit, it’s like being hit by a truck, autoattacking in melee range will get you hit a lot.
Blurred Frenzy – you can use it for defense but then again, is having an entire useless set worth this one skill? Offensively isn’t not too good. You go in, which you were able to do with ileap, but now, since the clone gets instakilled, you really can’t anymore, then either walk out of the point which takes time and you will take a lot of damage or blink out which is a big cd waste.
iLeap – It sucks now as the clone gets instakilled by cleave/aoe in PvP.
Torch
Prestige – Pretty much only good for escaping. You can use it to do a surprise stealth burst, even then, if we take that bf is actually good, you have 2 semi-ok skills on an entire weapon set vs. 4/5 on staff, + the staff skills are 100% useful, none are semi-ok, except the phantasm there.
Phantasm – plain out sucks..
Also, as a shatter mesmer, you don’t really go on point too often, you’re mostly ranging with greatsword, so sword basically is an unnecessary hassle Staff gives you more mobility, defense and utility than any other mh+oh weapon combo. The only 100% viable builds we have for PvP now are staff + gs lockdown (which is basically shatter but you take 6 out of illusions and put it in chaos then take interrupt traits to benefit from interrupting) and the shatter build. Oh, also PU condi but that one isn’t good for anthing other than sPvP and it takes a while to learn how to rotate with it ect.
I’d be more than happy to meet you in game and help you out with staff + greatsword shatter. I don’t know if you read my guide, if you didn’t do check it out, it should help you a lot with the build(It’s in my signature). I’d also recommend watching Lord Helseths stream. It will help you out a lot since he does explain what he does and why, what his role is ect. somewhat often, also, his kiting guide on foefire is a lot of help. You instantly become 5x better than you were when you start using those tips. Have a wonderful rest of the day mate!

I don’t really agree with a lot of this…

The sword is still a good weapon. The nerf hit it much harder for WvW than in PvP. Sword 3 isn’t useless, and people really shouldn’t be so dramatic about the change. It hurt, but it didn’t break Sword. Sword Auto is underrated and does good damage in addition to stripping a boon. While obviously you won’t be using it THAT often, being able to squeeze an extra 2k+ here and there really comes in handy and starts to add up. Each hit of Sword auto, if it crits, does over 1k and the final hit can nail around 2k if the enemy has no boons. Blurred Frenzy speaks for itself (dat retal tho) and sword 3 still works, it just has to be used more thoughtfully then just sending it out whenever you please.

The torch just rocks for PvP. Prestige alone makes it worth it -you can pull off some nasty shatter bursts with this and it makes for an excellent escape tool and our only BLAST Finisher- and the Phantasm is shatter fodder if nothing else.

Shatter Mesmer can fight on point, especially when using sword. Using Sword+Torch/GS gives you both powerful melee and ranged options and you should take advantage of both these tools depending on the situation. Jump into fights with a heavy Prestige shatter burst, bail out when you need, range with the GS before you get there or versus an opponent you don’t wanna melee (like a Warrior).

Why not more bouncing Angel? I think that it is better than refresh shatter per minute or not?
And do you agree with traveler runes and utilities combination?

yes I read your guide.. I read almost 10 guides + Helseths videos + ESL streams and videos. I read all guides about mesmer at this forum but.. I Idont know Iam maybe just bad player… I know that staff is just better.. but —> I meet warrior… basic rotation… his attack → blink and Iam dead. Hammer or insta 7k dmg from axe is death for me and I dont have endless of dodges. Thief is death after 2-5sec for me. Heartseker.. or condi all of them because I have only null field with 40sec cooldown —> 8 stacks of bleed and I going down pretty fast. Necro… words are useless here. And Helseth guide at foefire? I just dont know how it he doing… I tried “blink” with staff skill from those rocks to that bridge… and nothing for once… and 100x nothing.

I play with boon maestro from Mr ChaosAngel and i like it.. but I love that agressive playstyle of shatter. I dont like staff/GS shatter (helseth) build… it is ofc good build but.. i absolutely dont know how i have to play with it. I training with that build for min 2. weeks and Iam still so bad. I need advice about PvE build on my ranger. I already have 30/30/0/10 with activate signets (stone, wild and hunt) berserker stats and scholars in gear. I using this build in fractals (20lvl+), dungeons and in livings etc. But I had build 25/20/0/25 with frost spirit but without too many crit. dmg and with runes of ranger with less power.

What do you think about that?

Thanks for yours opinions and thank you very much for tip with Beastmaster trait because health treshold 50% in pet is very often. But I dont know if is better 15 points in wildnes survival (I think that this trait bonus to coldown -20% is good and more dodge.. but without regenerate and share bonus with pet) or in nature magic. And in melee… I dieng often. Iam trying to use dodge with sword with combinate axe/warhorn. I still dont know what is better in offhand .. axe or this warhorn…

I need some advices from you for my PvE build on my lovely ranger :).

I using now clasic bersekers build on PvE (fractals, dungeons, living and sometimes WvW but on WvW I will want PVT build in future) with power/prec. and crit. I have 3 ascended trinkets and 3 normal with berserkers stats. I have 30/25/0/15/0 in my traits (It is good in combination with toughnes signet or i will do retrait this 15 points to wildnes survival and instead +healing and share bonuses with pet + 50% endurance and faster coldown on offhand skills for warhorn/axe) and I DONT KNOW what weapons I will use.

Now I deciding between LB/sword+warhorn and LB/sword+axe(dagger???). But I love DPS from sword and awayding. I love LB with range bonuses and piercing bonus from traits. I love 5 skill on offhand axe in some situations and I love buffs from warhorn… Please advise me which combination :/. I wanted use PVT build from WvW (30/20/20/0/0 with PVT rings and vitality instead crit on armor) but I heard that this build is on ranger in PvE bad.

+ Please which food for this sort of builds? I using food with 70 vitality and healing and food which take me some healing from criticals (66%) or +100power and 10% crit dmg
