im on sorrows furnace log in around 5pm pst btw nothing was empty except malchors leap untill plinx nerf
for the past 3 days i have found more enjoyment surfing the forums here and writing posts that i have in gw2 ad havent even logged in in 2 days. at least sitting here is more entertaining than siting in la looking for group for fractals since i cant farm for gold or run de’s due to lack of population in level 80 areas.
Perhaps you just aren’t in a position to get a legendary. May have to face the facts and let it go.
no i want my loan its easier. wow gives welfare epics gw2 can fix gold farming or give me welfare loan for gold 19 year payment plan!
Its as simple as this… grinding gold cuts into their revenue earning potential. The last thing they want to do is have you trade gold you farmed for gems instead of purchasing them through their store. Is this explanation clear enough for you?
if this is the case let us farm gold like in gw1 and take the gold to gem exchange out!
i am loged into gw2 abut 3-4 hours a day. when plinx got nerfed i had 30g to my name across all toons because i had just spent 3 days farming plinx to buy all my exotic gear for my other 80 who still needs 30g worth of runes. since plinx has been nerfed i have spent about the same amount of gold as i have made running fotm and a couple other dungeons. atm i have 32g across all toons. how am i progressing toward getting infused or legendayry gear thats a 2gold gain in 2 weeks. lets do the math. im a semi-casual player i make 1g profit a week it cost about 500g to make a legendary. this is 1×500=500 weeks so ill have my first legendary in about 9.5 years…. ty for the high apr anet ill take that 500g loan now and make a 19 year payment plan out of it.
Remember Touch Rangers or any of the other gimmick over powered builds?
Haha touch rangers… rofl they were awsome and gw1 made them awsome because we could use skills from other professions. unlike gw2 where we have cookie cutter skills that cant be changed on the first 5 hotkeys.
gw1 had just as many players as wow during its peak. would it have been so bad to steal some wow players and bring back All the gw1 fans who left after a year or 2 of eotn? and just leave the game ply alone adding the world dynamic events and closing the single person instancing? several years ago when gw2 was in development all i remember them saying was they were gonna change the graphics engine not the entire game im just feeling let down and depressed that gw1 is gone forever.

i have enjoyed gw1 for 6 years without complaint. there was only a couple little thing i didnt like about it.
1. you couldnt jump.
2. the world was instanced so you could only run a certain amount of people in your party.
3. hmmm cant think of 3.
ok here is why im so pissed anet fixed those 2 issues, then proceeded to entirely change and get away from gw1. wasnt profecies game of the year at one time? im sure this was during a time when that other popular and still popular mmo was running. why change what wasnt broken?
in gw1 we had dungeons that required skill and dungeons which required less skill for those who wanted to run them due to casual player skill.
our builds required skill.
it required skill to get some of the skills to make skillful builds.
if we were happy exploring the world so be it! if we wanted to make some money on any particular day we could solo farm or join a group in an elite dungeon.
gear stats were all the same! no matter what kind of gear you made there wasnt any difference other than the looks every state was plateaued at level 20.
speaking of level 20. yes we could get to max level in a day but… it took days after to explorer the world and cap and learn all the skills you needed to join dungeon groups or farm. it wasnt a grind because you chose what skills you wanted to learn or cap.
how about the fact that every one in gw1 was happy and considerate of other people which was also demanded in guild chats. when a person needed help people wanted to help and show off their awsomness. their cool heros and builds and group making abilities their cool gear they spent hours farming for. people were proud of what they had.
speaking of heroes! gw2 is a group based world with dynamic events and lore all around. why then would they make soo many dungeons and ignore the playable world? if they do this than all the level 80 areas would be dead! oh wait… they nerfed plinx and added FOTM so they already are.
why are we being Forced into doing dungeons we dont wanna do just to make a scrap of gold which in a day could possibly pay to craft one single piece of exotic gear. on the other hand why offer cool skins if only the gold buyers can afford to buy them from tp.
imo this game is for the irl rich people since im an adult i have adult responsibilities and have enough sence to pay 70$ for a game and refrain from gem store.
why cant i have fun too? and why did you kill the dreams of all the gw1 fans by taking away the game we loved so much!?
i have a more important question. why oh why do we have MF gear if there is DR on loot….
thousands of people played the same gw1 content for 4 years and its audience barely diminished untill the day gw2 came out. it did not have a shelf life it needed an update or xpac.
because all our gw1 friends are in gw2 complaining about the same stuff as we are here. so were gonna just stay in gw2 until its better or dies and then linger off to quit gaming until another gw1 comes out.
Instancing has a negative effect on a game’s community. I don’t know why developers refuse to see that. They seem more inclined to take the easy way out when developing content by simply making it instanced instead of large enough and detailed enough for a lot of people.
I could easily make an argument the other way . GW1 was entirely instanced and had the friendliest community i ever saw in an MMO .
the instance these people are taking about are the dungeons. not the personal world gw1 offered us. and yes gw1 had an awsome community because it was designed to please every aspect of game play we wanted so we were happy to help each other achieve our goals. instead of ridiculing each other about how crappy our gear was instead we ridicued each other about our skill set up and helped each other get the right skills with temps.
If they released a GW1 expansion, I’d be all over it in a heartbeat.
GW2 successfully did 2 things for me: A) made me realize that if I’m going to play a gear grinder, I should play WoW or something more established and
made me realize that GW1 really is a unique gem that will never be repeated. Even the company that made it failed to recreate its glory and had to fall back to the industry standards of themepark MMOs.
i love this comment ty! bring back gw1 or redesign gw2 to be more like it was supposed to (gw1)
i played gw1 and wow at the same time and i always quit wow for gw1. i got bored with wow because of the elitism that comes from bigger better gear and always looking for a dungeon group. i played on the top server in wow MG for 2 years. but gw1 always took over. i loved how all the gear was the same stats and all was different was how it looked and the runes we put in it. i loved how we could immerse ourselves into to game content with heroes if we chose to or join a group for dungeons and elite dungeons to grind for gem sets and rare weapons to keep or sell for platinum. wow was too much politics and could never find groups for leveling and i hated doing dungeons cause you might not get the gear you “needed.” gw2 has become more like that other game. i waited for gw2 for 6 years! now that its here im unsatisfied about how its turned out. i dont wanna be forced to do dungeons i wanna farm to get the best “lookin” gear and do dynamic events. im depressed for the fact that noone plays gw1 anymore or id quit gw2 and go back
as i said in my post “farming and dead zones” i love the multi player dynamic event and offered suggestions to make the world better for those of us who do. i dont like dungeons i would rather farm dynamic events and run dungeons when i need a break kind of like a treat. noone cares what your wearing in DE’s and we all work together and it dont matter when someone gets dc’d or leaves as in fractals of the mists where if someone gets dc’d or leaves on the 3rd instance your screwed and have to start completely from the first instance again.
i miss gw1 where all the gear had the same stats and all that changed between different pieces was the look and what runes we put into it
i wasnt sure where to post a suggestion but here it goes.
i turned 80 on my second toon i decided to make and mf build for my guardian. soon i found the plinx event and started to farm that because i was making about 1-2gold per run. each run was about 20 minutes (this was after having full mf gear and getting a good group). this was good enough money to buy a gear set every 2 days not including runes and sigils.
now that plinx has been nerfed i have been hard pressed to be able to make any gold. i tried fotm and with frustrating results i gave up because i spend more on repairs than i make and i normaly run it 4-5 times before actualy completing a level because of people leaving or getting disconnected.
so my suggestion: there are several “dead zones” in game for example cursed shore, malchor’s leap, and the new sea of sorrows. these areas are unpopulated because people cant find groups for the events and the wp’s are always contested and fresh 80’s cant get their karma gear because no one wants to be there for the events because we cant make any gold or get any descent drops from the mobs. what im suggesting is to change the timers on the events and or make new events so people can farm them like they did at plinx. if you guys would make each zone drop specific rare and exotic crafting materials different for each zone and raise the amount of rare and exotic wepons and gear drops then people will play the group events and farm the area according to what they need creating more game play for these zones and utilizing the dead spaces opening up karma vendors and giving players the option to make the amount of gold they expect from the amount of effort they put into farming.
this will in turn drop the price of some crafting material and lower prices on tp making everything affordable for everyone who puts in the effort. also possibly making crafting professions capable of making gold also by making gear to sell.
i find myself being bored all the time and logging out of the game because i have nothing to farm and if i remember right anet wanted gw2 to be a game for EVERY game play style and person. dont get me wrong i got bored of plinx and went to dungeons just to help out guildies but now i feel like im being forced to play dungeons because there isnt any place to farm anymore. why cant farming and grinding be apart of game play if a person wants to play that way? just make it our choice instead of a requirement to play the game.
please leave other suggestions and thoughts i am curious how other people feel.
this is a good area where anet could fix the confusion of events that never get completed. drop the timers and make them farming events. so people will go there to make money. for example make each zone specific to different rare or exotic crafting materials. this way there wont be any events being wasted and the price of materials will go down far enough to make money from crafting.
i agree. the new dungeon is a grind especially since it normally can’t be completed by 4 people and if someone leaves or gets disconnected you wind up running it several times before its completed.
1. When did you begin playing? (post bw’s)
a little bit in beta
2. how many hours total do you have? (/age)
433 hours
3. What’s your most gold banked so far?
30 gold
4. Do you have a max level character (s)? (number if more than one)
2 level 80’s 1 warrior and the other guardian
5. List 1-3 areas / zones / events / tp; where you spend most of your time for income.
atm none. i was doing straights of devastation zerg but no one parties for mf and there arent anyother zerg mf farming runs since plinx was nerfed.
6. Do you mainly use MF or not?
yes i use mf at all times except on bosses in dungeons
7. Have you ever got an exotic weapon from a mob? If so, how many and total?
i have gotten a level 78 exotic pair of boots one time from a mob with max mf and after several hours of mf farming.
8. Have you ever got an exotic weapon from a chest? If so, how many and total?
none ever
9. What’s the most number of rare weapons you have looted in one day or 8hrs time?
none since plinx was nerfed. before the nerf i was getting 3 rares per run. rare crafting items are included in that statistic.
10. How many rare or exotic weapons do you “expect” to loot in one hour of time?
6
11. How many lodestones have you looted total so far? (all types)
probably 10 no more than that
12. Do you craft? If so, do you have a 400 crafter? if so, how many?
no i dont craft. the price of mats vs. the price of the crafted item make it impossible to make money often times losing money if you dont just sell the mats.
13. Do you sell your looted crafting mats? (specify optional)
yes all t5 and t6 crafting mats get sold on tp anything less gets saved for the future if i decide to level my crafting which would be decided only if Anet decides to make crafting a viable money making skill
14. Do you feel your return, (in terms of items, completion, income, etc) for your time, has been worth it?
absolutely not! i am tired of making 2 gold per day since the plinx nerf and watching the prices on everything on tp sky rocket.
15. In ONE word, what needs improved most; from your perspective?
gold
