Since I’m kinda new to GH, from my perspective this is a good matchup to see the heart of Gunnar’s Hold. Obviously we can’t match the numbers PS and AM field, but we have to adapt to the situation and do our best.
We have been in situation’s like this before and there will be the same faces and Guild’s that will be mixing it up and will never give up the fight, I count myself and my Guild amongst that number. It’s one week of pain but the lesson’s learnt are well worth the bruises.
We are a good solid server with a great community, fighting Abbadon and Piken will stand us in good stead.
Get the stupid GvG out of WvW and stop wasting slots.
To be honest I think you are under estimating the importance of our WvW Guilds. While they are fighting each other they are not wiping your PUG whilst you are trying to cap towers. Also roaming WvW guild’s are quite capable of wiping PUG group’s much bigger than themselves.
I have been roaming with my own guild and there is no feeling like wiping another guild group or a PUG group with more number’s than ours. As for 15v15 or 20v20 GvG I honestly don’t see a problem with that, you can’t get better unless you test yourself against other Guild’s.
I can see your point but the benefit’s far outweigh the negative’s. I often run with PUG’s if my Guild are not having a WvW event and it’s fun to just go crazy but nothing beat’s an organized group kicking some kitten .
I have nothing but respect for the guy’s on BT and WSR who have turned out in WvW day after day against bigger numbers. We have been there ourselves and we know how hard it is to continue the fight when you are being swamped day after day.
It takes a lot of determination and gut’s to wipe and dust yourselves off and go out to get wiped again and I salute you guy’s for that.
The numbers we are against is nothing new, just about every week we face servers with larger forces than ours, thats fine, we just like to get some fun fights and get better as a guild.
Whats annoying, for me anyway, is when groups like the one tonight who outnumbered us anyway, we were 15 in voice comms with a couple of pugs tagging on, feel they need to put ACs and Ballistas up in a supply camp.
Yeah I know what you mean, sometimes the guy’s get a bit carried away. But I hope you believe me when I say there is nothing malicious in it, it’s just we have learned some hard lesson’s from bigger server’s and sometimes we will put up AC’s in a camp to protect it, I’m sure the guy’s who did it were just erring on the side of caution.
Oh and to the Norn who was afk outside the keep last night, forget which one, I apologise about you get kerb stomped by 30+ people but when the guy’s blood is up there is no stopping them.

Personally I think the arrow of causation points the other way: when we get a lot of people in WvW we start winning!

I agree. If we can keep the momentum going and show some of our PvE Guild’s that W3 can be fun and rewarding even when our back’s are against the wall, and it will happen again sooner or later, then it can do nothing but good. W3 isn’t just about the point’s, at least on Gunner’s, it’s about the community.
What I love about Gunner’s is that even when we are battered and bruised and down on one knee taking the blows we still fight and we still have fun and do crazy stuff just for the hell of it. I would love more people on Gunner’s to be a part of that.
I want to win, of course I do, and I would also like to be toe to toe with the top 5 server’s but to be honest I wouldn’t swap a server like Gunner’s for any of that.
When the going is good our fair weathers come out of their PvE holes.
There is an element of that I’m sure but I also think we learnt a lot of hard lesson’s when we played Piken-Riverside that are perhaps giving us an edge this time around.
Also we have much better pug co-ordination than we have had for a while thanks to our commander’s that is doing us a world of good.
Can’t speak for other guild’s but the interest in W3 in MM is on a surge and I can see only good thing’s going forward.
Well it’s been a hell of a week, we were on the back foot almost from the get go. We fought as hard as we could for as long as we could and I’m proud to have been a part of it.
To everyone on Gunner I fought beside, and died beside………mostly died beside to be honest, I salute your grit, your determination and your tenacity. To our commanders who struggled all week to bring us together a special thank you. To our WvW guilds who kept the pressure on the Borderlands and helped keep them off our back in EB.
It was nice to see plenty of old guilds from my WAR day’s HoB, VII and I’m sure I saw VoP in there as well.
Thank you to our enemies this week we learnt a lot and that will stand us in good stead.
We did our best ……… can’t ask for more than that.
To be honest this match up has been very positive for Gunner’s. Fighting against bigger numbers tends to focus the mind some what and we have come up with tactics and ways of taking keeps that before we would never have thought of.
We move better than we did and seem to be more aware of what is happening and are reacting quicker than we ever did before. Our zerg is more disciplined and I’m sure our WvW guilds have taken a lot of good from it too.
I don’t feel any animosity towards any of the servers we have faced this week, we all play the game differently but we have taken a lot from this and to be honest I feel sorry for whoever we face next week.

Don’t normally post on these forums but I just wanted to add something to the conversation. We on Gunner are used to fighting against the odd’s, getting stomped is nothing new for us, but we pride ourselves on dusting ourselves off and trying again.
We, in my opinion, have some of the best PUG commanders anywhere who come into WvW day after day and sacrifice their guild runs and 10v10 time without any thought for themselves and I wanted to pay tribute to that.
Everyone knew we would not win this matchup but I don’t think anyone thought we would do so well either. We have the weekend out of the way now, always the hardest time fight wise and now we have the war of attrition that is the rest of the week to come. If we do as well for the rest of the week then we can hold our heads high and have the satisfaction of knowing we did our best against two hard charging servers.
Over the weekend we have fought number’s double what we can raise ourselves and come out swinging, hell a couple of time’s we managed to wipe those numbers too.
I’m enjoying the fight and hope it continues for the rest of the week.
If any fair weather WvW Gunner’s read this, well get your arses into WvW, we need you lol.

And to RUIN: please don’t bash FS. You do see we have litteraly no one in WvW the entire night, and wake up to not only EB, but also ALL bordelands 100% in your control? That’s not because we lack skill, is it? We are good at daytime. but its limits to how much uphill back-capping we can do with such a huge lead. People don’t even bother going to WvW anymore until late afternoon because no one cares to join a map 100% conquered by the enemy server.. Atleast with vizuna sqaure we still had some keeps since they didnt have morning cappers. :/
The reason you see us falling so behind at prime time now compared to this weekend is simply that people don’t bother anymore. At least that’s my impression after talking to alot of WvW people in our server. we have been fighting bravely and optimistic against nightcapping servers for weeks, and its getting stupid.

Ruin isn’t bashing FS, we are just forming our own observations of the fighting we are getting at night. To use this weeks battle to compare, even though we may end up owning everything at a certain point at night we will still be dealing with a Kodash zerg that borderland hops, attacking towers, supply camps and anything possible to get point gain. We would love to see FS doing the same thing, which would actually force us to split our forces and most likely would lose some ground. But FS doesn’t so it basically becomes 1v1 which we are able to deal with by counter zerging.
Again, from what we were told Far Shiverpeaks was the server to beat in this tier and we’ve just been a bit disappointed by the turn-outs we are getting from them at night.
tl:dr We aren’t bashing FS, we want them to get better.
I’m curios, what the hell were you expecting? It’s common knowledge that we have no night cover and here you are looking down your nose at us and saying how disapointed you are with the fights you get at night. Hello? We have no night crew, if we did we would be having this conversation. I’m not sure if you are trolling but your ham fisted attempt at being condescending smells of troll to me.
