It is a free game after all so i’m not going to be demanding and entitled as the rest of you but i will say that i think their resources should go to PvP and end game dungeons more than anything else.

Add statistics
-Points per match
-Assists to kill conversion ratio
-Total assists
-Objectives per match (only applies to objective gametypes)
-Total objectives
-Games played
-Time played
-K/D
-W/L
-Wins
-Longest win streak
-Highest scoring match
-Longest kill streak
-Most played gametype
-Average life length
-Average damage taken while in combat
-Average dps while in combat
-Avg place on team in kills, assists, deaths, and points
With leaderboards for each stat
If Anet added these stats publicly viewable by everyone. I GUARENTEE this game would be 10x more competitive 10x more replayable and just alot better and more fun overall.
Please consider this Anet. Its really not too much work and would make this game that much better.

maybe you should change the title of your topic into "game is good but no reason to keep playing for me ".

Not everyone needs competitive pvp features to enjoy the game in the long run.

but a lot of people do want more competitive features, not just me

guild wars 2 is without a doubt the best mmo out there. the level of innovation and customization especially is what sets this apart from stale mmos such as wow. the game is good, not great there is still some tweaking and polishing to do, but for the most part gameplay is fine.

its the lack of competitive pvp features that make this game hard to play in the long run. i feel like theres no reason to play this game other than achievement points. There isnt a win/loss, k/d, ranking, general leaderboards, or anything of the sort. tournaments are the only semi-competitive atmosphere and even then, wins are not very rewarding. There is no gauge of skill in this game, no reason to keep playing or improve your game.

the gameplay is good im not denying that, but everything about this game just feel so un-competitive its almost like a single player game. not asking for much just a few features that might make me want to play for more than a game or two.

So this game is pretty fun but...

Simply put, I just dont feel like theres much of a point to playing. This game is really great and easily the most fun mmo out there. But without any sort of leaderboards or stats i feel like im playing well and winning games for no reason. Like i said, the gameplay itself is spectacular but theres absolutely no recognition for those who play this game well. No stats, no leaderboards, no sense of achievement or mastery, no anything…

You cant even see how much damage, how many kills, or how many deaths you had in a game. You cant see how many matches youve won, you cant see the avg amount of points you score each match, you cant even view another players rank, the only sort of tangible stat current available. you dont have any sort of k/d and most importantly there arent even any real leaderboards to see how you stack up with everyone else.

Such a good game but no modern competitive multiplayer features… Please anet give us something to work with so i can pound face and actually feel like theres a point in doing so

I’m sure at least a few of the things you listed are already on their way.

Lets hope so. And i say the faster the better, this game is losing more and more players every day.

I know the mmo genre has always been more centered around the pve aspect of things rather than pvp. i hate to say it but gw2 certainly follows trend and is really lacking in the pvp department. Pve in gw2 is probably great (im strictly a pvp player so i wouldnt know) and im sure many people love it, but for me at least (and im sure im not the only one) pvp is where the real replay value of any game comes from. Pve is only as interesting as the newest content while pvp is as entertaining as long as there are other real players to compete against.

All this being said, it no secret that players are quickly getting bored of pvp in its current state. If Anet really cares about the longevity of their game, and im not saying they have any incentive to, heres how to unarguably improve gw2 pvp. Note: these are ALL of the things i believe pvp could benefit from. I know gw2 is free-to-play so i dont expect everything i mention to be added, its up to anet what they feel is worth it. i can tell you this much though, the more of this they add the better pvp will be..

-Comprehensive stats w/ viewable pvp profile
-Leaderboards
-Skill-based ranking system
-Variety of gametypes
-More maps
-Duels
-Arenas
-Real matchmaking
-Guild vs. guild

Anybody else miss "punishing" games?

If games were punishing the developers couldnt get the maximum profit out of the game. Developers dont care how long you play the game they just care about if you buy it period. Thats the problem with game these days. Theyre money making machines and have very little depth or skill involved.

My one request: pvp statistics

This is the one thing i think this game is missing. Ive always been strictly a pvp player when it comes to mmos and something like this would really give the game that long term replay value for me. As of now, i have no problem with the game in terms of balance, mechanics, etc. etc. but with the 3 maps and 1 gametype we currently have, i can see this game getting old for me quickly. For me at least, stats are what gives a game that competitive feeling. I love seeing those ridiculously good players with crazy good stats and i strive to be like them. I also like comparing stats with virtual and real life friends always competing to be the best and gain the admiration of my peers. Now to answer a few questions…

Which stats should be included? IMO the most important stats for any video game would be avg ppm (points per match) which represents how involved a player is in matches, k/d (kills per death) which represents the individual skill of a player, and w/l (wins per loss) which generally represents how much influence a player has on the outcome of the match.

How should the stats be displayed? I’ll leave that up to the developers but preferably these stats should be viewable in game, by anyone, at any time. For example, when you pull up the action menu on someone (whisper, invite, ignore, etc. etc.) you can have an option right there to view someones pvp profile which can include a plethora of statistics and ranking.

Why do we need something like this? Stats give competitive players something to work towards and give players an idea of who is skilled at this game, who isnt skilled at this game even if they think they are, and which players are the players that just play the game casually. Either way stats are what makes multiplayer competitive and gives games that extra intensity. The game is fun and all but i can only do the same thing so many times before i wonder, is there a point to playing this game? or over the long term, am i improving at all?

To arena net: Do you see something like this happening in the future?

Thank you!

With all these negative posts going around i just wanted to say thank you arena net for an awesome game! I believe GW2 is the best mmo to date so keep up the good work and just know that some fans are thankful for all the hard work and effort youve put into this project.

Make more varied Boon/Condition Icons

I agree. Color coded boons and conditions would be much easier to recognize. That being said the boon/condition system in this game is a huge step forward from having to memorize over 100 different buff and debuffs icons like in wow.

There should be a ranking system once paid tournaments are enabled. Or, at least, there was in the original Guild Wars.

Also, claiming something like, “There should not be a ranking system because it encourages player ego” is hardly a valid reason to suggest it not be implemented. Some people PvP solely for fun and others because of the competition.

There is nothing wrong with allowing players to see how they rank among their competition.

Agreed. Some people play games casually and some a little bit more seriously. I think its wrong to think just because you play this game casually, the more competitive players cant have anything they want, even if it doesnt affect your style of play at all.

Rotten title – if you want to complain about PvP make a thread in the PvP section, this is the suggestions section and its hard to fathom just what your suggestion is.

Complaining? Im just trying to help the devs make this game the best it can be and im sorry if you felt that way about my post. Like i said before… my suggestion would be to add some sort of leaderboards, skill-based ranking system, and/or publicly viewable pvp statistics character profile to the game. I believe it will give much more replay value to pvp.

Mainly being a pvp player, i wish there were stats or leaderboards in this game. The mmo genre has never really gotten the same level of multiplayer attention that most other competitively played games have gotten. I hoped that would be different in gw2 but it still lacks any good matchmaking features and any sort of publicly viewable/shareable character profile.

Your pvp options are very limited in this game and it feels like everything i do, i do for nothing other than some sort of currency that i can buy a bunch of useless stuff with. Theres no team/personal ranking or rating system other than a purely exp-based level system which cant even be viewed publicly. With no dueling and no arenas, pvp in its current state will get old quickly.

For me at least the replay value of a game is all in the multiplayer. While the gameplay of this game is great, theres only so many maps, so many gametypes, so many times i can do the same thing over and over again. With stats like kill/death, win/loss, points per match, etc. not only do i feel like im always playing the game for a reason but i also like to work towards a goal and improve my gameplay.

Achievements are nice but theyre more pve oriented. Like achievements players want to show off their level of skill in pvp which IMO is why adding some sort of public pvp stats/leaderboards would make this game very much playable even with only the 4 maps and 1 gametype that are currently available.

Im not bashing this game, i think its a great game but i wish there were just a little more there on the pvp side of things. Just because theres never been an mmo with advanced multiplayer support doesnt mean this game has to follow trend. Just a few additions to this game and it could be the best mmo for years to come.

If theres one thing i learned about this game so far its that if your good at your prof you you can beat any player no matter what prof they are. Ive played a mesmer, ranger, and guardian so far and ive found no class to be stronger than the other. Each class is better and worse in certain ways.
