Well it’s definitely sound related.
I’ve followed the advice here: http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/zvv45/if_youre_struggling_with_fpsperformance_issues/
And found that it “corrected” the FPS drops and my CPU usage stays normal (around 45-50%).
I hope they figure out what the issue is though, because playing without any sound whatsoever is not a long-term solution.
My sound is being provided through a Planatronics Gamecom 780 usb headset and I’m using the drivers that came with it, so I should be bypassing any onboard sound or soundcard issues I think (correct me if I’m wrong).
I’ve been playing the game without much problem until about a week ago. I’ll play for about 30 seconds without any problems, FPS around 30ish. Then the sound will start stuttering and have a noticeable echo to it, and the FPS will drop to 1. It’s definitely worse in groups. I’ve noticed that it corresponds to my CPU going to 100% usage for all four cores on my processor. Here’s a dxdiag of my system. Any help would be appreciated.
